So here it goes...NEVER LET GO!
The story starts from the night when Ishita was insulted at the bachelor's party. Raman brings her home and then leaves to talk to Shagun,
Raman...
He had to find out a way to make Adi understand his mistake, repent and regret about it. He had to settle scores with people who were actually behind this conspiracy as he already knew that Adi wasn't big enough to have come up with this plan. His doubts rested on Ashok and Suraj but he had to confirm and punish each culprit for doing this to his Jhansi Ki Rani!
The very thought of a shattered, weak Ishita caused a tremble in him as well. His heart had shattered seeing her so weak and fragile. She was a broken woman. He had left her in his mother's company and went out to blast Shagun.
He suddenly felt that every other thing could wait. She should be his only priority now He hurried back as he felt that she needed him the most. Yes, he had been a little idiotic to have left her alone. Nothing was as important as consoling and giving her strength now. He smacked himself as he drove back.
Once at home, he saw the entire family worried and talking about the incident. He quickly dispersed them asking them to rest the matter then and there. He asked them not to broach on the topic henceforth and not even a word to Ishita about it.
He quickly excuses himself and sprints up the stairs to her, his Jhansi ki rani.
Ishita...
From the moment they came back home, she hadn't cried. She had suppressed every pain within her as she didn't want her sorrow to affect the family. But she had broken down when Toshi ji enquired about it. She couldn't help but tell her what happened. But soon, she tried hard to gather herself and assured Toshi ji that she was alright. She requested Toshi ji to stay calm and go to sleep. She promised that she wouldn't cry and would sleep too.
Soon, Toshi ji left and she was left to her own company. She didn't try to sleep as she knew that sleep was a far fetched dream that night or even several nights to come.
She cursed and accused herself guilty for being so stupid and not having double checked the party venue with Mihika. She had blindly went by the SMS that Shagun had sent. She was the one to be blamed for the mess she landed in. She smacked herself!
Due to such a foolish slip from her, she had been through the worst nightmare for any woman and this nightmare was enough to steal away her sleep forever. She was even scared of her own shadow now. The slightest movement in the room or the ruffle of the curtains horrified her and made her doubt that some man was there to torment her again. She felt so lonely and lost.
She felt scared and also scarred from deep inside. It wasn't something that she could forget so easily. Memories of the nightmare was bound to come back and haunt her.
Everything that happened revolved around her head. Her getting trapped in the wrong party. Random men rounding her up with hungry staring eyes.
The smell of the alcohol, the intoxicated men commenting on her, demanding her to dance with them. Param's lusty eyes making her feel dirty from inside. She had pulled on the pallu over her bare shoulders to hide herself. At those moments, she had smacked herself a thousand times for having worn such an exposing off shoulder blouse. She wished the ground just split and she went deep inside so that she would escape this most insulting embarrassing, horrid situation.
Ashok, Param, Suraj...their devilish laughter, their lusting eyes, their roaming hands trying to touch her, their insulting words of her being a frustrated sex starved wife, attention seeking woman! Every damn thing echoed in her ears and oscillated before her eyes making her feel dizzy and all the more weak. She felt dirty inside out.
Their tacky glances and forceful brushing against her were as if she was a call girl who was called in to satisfy their demands, their wishes and their raw needs. It was an utterly disgusting feeling as if the men there were literally raping her. That was the last straw of her controls which broke rather mercilessly.
She closed her eyes and screamed "NOOO", cradling her head between her hands.
"ISHITAAA", the next instant, he was by her side trying to hold her. She shrugged off his hands. Every man's touch disgusted her now. Every man's touch felt alien now. In her despaired disoriented state, she didn't even recognize her husband's voice or touch.
She yelled, "Don't touch me...dur raho mujhse"
He felt a killing pain in his heart, not because his wife had pushed him away but because he realized how deep her hurt was, how intense and unbearable her pain was. He painfully realized that the incident had left an irrevocable & harsh impact on her. It had totally disheveled her stable self and left her in a total mess.
All he could reply was, "It's me Ishita...it's me...your Raman"
The last part was however a mild whisper but she heard it and it gave her immense peace that he was there with her. She looked up instantly and the moment her eyes met his and her fingers caught his, she felt relieved and as if a lost, wandering soul found its sole threshold. His fingers curled up around hers assuringly, silently promising that he was there now and she had nothing to worry.
That wasn't enough for her to calm down. She inched towards him, simultaneously pulling him closer too and forced him to sit by her side. The instant, he sat next to her, she crashed into him letting out all her sorrows and breaking the suffocating blankness, the silence that had engulfed her when he wasn't there with her.
She sobbed against him, stammering out broken sentences, "Raman...woh...mere saath aise kaise kar sakte hai? Mujhse?? aise baatein? Maine..."
His hands engulfed her in a protective embrace and his chin rested on her head. He hushed her, "sshhh...kuch matth socho..."
He could feel a tremble inside her and he kept patting her to console her. Consoling her wasn't easy and he realized that.
Her sobs didn't stop and it wasn't so easy to stop thinking about what happened. She buried into him as if hiding her face and ranted, "I feel so dirty Raman...they have maligned me with their words...I feel so disgusted Raman...maine poori family ka naam kharaab kardiya...aapka naam kharaab kardiya...Its all my fault...sorry Raman"
He tightened the hold on her, grabbing her closer if at all that was possible and replied, "Aisa kuch nahi hua...Why are you sorry?? its not your fault, understand? and whose words are you taking about? Woh log jo khud maligned hai, aur jinnke khud ki koyi izzat nahi??? Don't even think about all that...your tears are precious Ishita...dont waste them over such perverts...they are not worth it...they aren't worth your goodness"
She was inconsolable yet and was ignoring his comforting words, "Main kuch din kahi baahar chali jaati hoom Raman...Mujhe yahaan nahi rehna...kahi dur bhej dho...I am a disgrace to you Raman"
She went on and on with the same rant and her dishevelled state brought tears to him too as he kept saying "shhh nahi , nothing like that..."
When she wasn't stopping or hearing to him, he parted a little from her as a final attempt to gather her up and shook her vigorously, "SHUT UP Ishita...You are a strong woman...tum aise kaise toot sakthi ho? Kahi chupne ki, yahaan se bhaagne ke baare mein kaise soch sakthi ho? aur tum chupogi bhi kyun? Bhaagne ki, chupne ki zaroorat toh unn kameen** ko hai kyun ki unnka aisa haal karunga ke tumhe kya koyi bhi ladki ko aankh utaake nahi dekhenge..."
She just stared at him, not sure of how to react to his words. His thoughts for revenging the wrong doers wasn't making any difference to her at this point. The woman inside her was insulted and no revenge could undo that reality but she stopped crying as she had seen how much the man before her, her Raman as he had worded it, was hurt seeing her so shattered. No matter what state she was in, she couldn't ignore his pain at these moments. Her sorrows were pricking and torturing him from inside. She could sense that pain and also his love for her, his care and concern for her. The thought that he was with her and was trying to console her was giving her the much needed solace. Even if the whole world conspired against her and insulted her, her husband was by her side, supporting her with all his heart. He was with her and that was what mattered the most. He trusted her and wasn't even blaming her once for what happened. His honest love for her was the only truth that stood before her at this juncture. So her tears ceased and she became silent all of a sudden.
She wasn't speaking or neither was she crying now. Oblivious to reasons, her silence worried him now more than her venting out. He didn't ask her anything but just welcomed her into his arms again voicing, "Come my sherni madrasan"
He just hugged her back again tightly, allowing her to cry her pain out. If that's what will calm her, then be it.
She silently stayed close to him, feeling his warmth as he closed his hands around her in a securing hug. All he wanted now was to snatch away all her pains, do away with all her tears and worries, and keep her hidden from all the evil eyes which plotted against her.
With immense pain, he realized that the first person he had to work with and try a peaceful reconciliation was his own son Adi. His wife Ishita loved Adi and he was sure of it but Adi? Shagun or perhaps Ashok or was it the circumstances that filled Adi's mind with so much hatred against her. Whatever it is, he would find a way to protect Ishita from the entire world and he would work on setting things right between Adi and her as well. Perhaps, he was to be blamed for the matters blown out of proportion and so he had to take the responsibility of resolving it.
Ishita had completely stopped sobbing or ranting as she felt heaven in his arms. A heaven where it was just goodness and nothing else.
At those moments, if she felt solace and calmness, it was in his arms, with him holding her so close protectively. The disgusting feeling, self pity and the bitterness that filled her up seemed to slowly drain away. Perhaps his hug, his touch of love was doing that magic!
When he realized that her tremble had left her considerably, he tried to part from her but she was snuggling closer even when he moved back.
She voiced when she felt her freeing her, "Don't go away from me Raman...please"
He smiled as he patted her assuringly and promised, "Never meri Jhansi Ki Rani!"
Her lips curved to a cute smile at that. His addressing her as Jhansi ki rani, madrasan, paagal aurat or whatever he called her, even if angrily or as a taunt, she knew its real worth now. It was bliss to hear it from him. His one liners gave her the smiles, the laughs which nothing else could give her.
Long moments later, he forced her to lie on the bed and one of his hand caressed her hair slowly while the other hand was on hers promising her that he would never leave her.
A long hour passed by and he was almost dozing off. He tried to get up thinking that she had slept but whenever he tried that, she murmured and caught his hands tightly.
So he said without a choice chuckling, "arre yaar, restroom toh jaane dho...warna problem ho jaayegi..."
She couldn't help laughing at that and that made him realize that she wasn't sleeping but just pretending to sleep.
"Toh tum acting kar rahi thi, huh?"
She sat up smiling but replied in a serious tone, "Sorry Raman...Main so gayi aur aap chale gaye tho?"
That was a serious reply which told him so much about her weak mind state and her fright. Though he hadn't seen what happened to her, he could sense the depth of horror that it had instilled in her.
But he didn't want to get serious too and make it more emotional. So he replied to lighten it, "toh seedhe seedhe bol dehti ke Jhansi ki rani ko Raavan Kumar ke bina ab neend nahi aathi, huh?"
He winked and a slight blush crept in wondering if that's what she really meant while he added, "Accha teek hai...main yun gaya aur yun aaya..."
She nodded and freed his hand while he muttered, "Paagal madrasan!" making her smile more. Her smiles relieved him immensely. He could see that she was slowly coming back to being normal.
He freshened up and changed quickly to get back to her. She waited till he came back. He sat beside her and she held his hand tightly and snuggled closer into his warmth.
He pecked her hair as gently as possible and whispered, "Ab so jao...main yahi hoom...Good night!"
She smiled as she felt his gently soothing kiss on her hair. He had literally touched her soul then and gave her inner most peace.
When she felt that peace, her calm mind allowed sleep to overpower her. Sleep finally happened and she drifted into it slowly but before that she had mumbled, "thank you Raman...ab aap bhi so jao!"
The formal thanks did irk him but he just hummed back, "hmmm" as he too slid down beside her. After 6 years of solitude and disturbed sleep, he felt a unique comfort and serenity when he lay with her so close to him. The feeling of this oneness gave him an assurance that she was his and this bonding was forever and ever after.
That night was a night of realizations and promises. They both felt the touch of each others undying honest love and promised to themselves that they would never let go of this feeling of oneness and togetherness no matter what. They also realized that come what may, they would only feel bliss and solace in each other. They realized that their being together was the only therapy that could heal any wound and do away with any pain!
Hum tere bin ab reh nahi sakte
Tere bina kya wajood mera
Tujhse juda gar ho jaayenge
Toh khud se hi ho jaayenge judaa
Kyunki tum hi ho
Ab tum hi ho
Zindagi ab tum hi ho
Chain bhi, mera dard bhi
Meri aashiqui ab tum hi ho
They promised silently that they would never let go of each other at any cost!
