Jodha- Akbar Postponed!!
[27 Jul 2007]

The release of Ashutosh Gowarikar's magnum opus ' Jodha- Akbar' has been postponed to January next year due to delay in completion of shooting of the film due to various factors. Earlier, the film was scheduled to a release all over during the diwali vacation in November this year. The film, which stars Hrithik Roshan as the Emperor Akbar and Aishwarya Rai as queen Jodha Bai, has still some days of shooting left. Even after the completion of that spell, the post production work of the film is expected to take around ninety days.

As a source from the Jodha- Akbar unit reveals, ' All decisions about the film are being taken by director Ashutosh Gowarikar himself, and it is his decision to delay release of the film. Besides, there are quite a few days left for the shooting of the film. A period drama like Jodha Akbar will take more than three months for the post production and processes like colour correction.'

Aishwarya Rai's marriage to Abhishek was one of the main reasons for the delay in shooting of the film as she took a long unforeseen leave for her marriage and European honeymoon. Then there were also problems regarding management of a large number of horses, elephants and other beasts required for the war scenes.

However, another reason may be the line up of big films like Shah Rukh's Om Shanti Om, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Saawariyan and Aamir Khan's Tare Zameen Par for the release during the diwali week.

Perhaps, Ashutosh Gowarikar wanted to save his film from the tough opposition of these biggies …..no?? Ashutosh bhai dar gaye kya….. what say??

Jodha Akbar delayed?

Apparently, Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha Akbar, scheduled to release this Diwali, has been postponed to January 2008

Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodha Akbar, which was slated for release around Diwali this year, may get delayed and in all likelihood release in the first week of January 2008. While Ashutosh Gowariker was not available for comment, UTV, the producers of the film, declined to comment on the release date. Said an industry source, "All decisions are made by Gowariker, besides, there are quite a few days left for the shooting of the film. A period drama like Jodha Akbar will take more than three months for the post production and processes like colour correction."

The film, that is yet to complete its shooting, has been facing logistic problems too. From Hrithik's accident to Aishwarya's unforeseen marriage, the delay factors have marred the shooting of the film. Also, the fact that multiple releases are proving disastrous at the box-office this year would have prompted the producers to shift the film. Industry experts indicate that it's been a year of surprise hits and none of the supposedly big films have actually made it good at the box-office. We're not sure, but the presence of other big films in the same period, like Om Shanti Om, Saawariya and Aamir Khan's Taare Zameen Pe, may have also have prompted the producers to shift the release to the next year.

it's not official that it has been delayed. It's all speculation so we'll have to wait and see.
