Veebha Anand, the girl who was better known as Sugna from Balika Vadhu' a few years back has now won youngsters' hearts with her Navya act in MTV's latest show Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan'. The actor was in giggling spree while speaking to Pinkvilla.com. Find out how Charlie, her co-star scared Veebha out of her wits, her secret wish and more. Read on:
From playing a village belle in Balika Vadhu' to a modern youngster in Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan', how has been the transition?
I always wanted to be part of a youth based show. I was only 16 when I did Balika Vadhu' and I was playing a bahu. It was a very mature role and I felt matured too. I felt like by playing a daughter-in-law and a wife and a mother, people wouldn't connect with me. I wanted a crazy role and Navya in Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan' is just that. But the journey has been very beautiful.
When did acting happen for you?
In 2007 I came to Mumbai. After one year of struggling, finally things fell in to place.
Did you always want to be an actor?
When I was 2 years old, since that time I wanted to become an actor. We laugh when at childhood we talk about our future plans. We fear that our friends might laugh hearing our plans, but I was very adamant about it. And my family supported me throughout. I felt acting is in born in me.
What are the similarities between you and Navya?
I share many similarities with my character Navya. Navya is focused about her dreams. Sometimes when I mouth her dialogues I feel like this is me...Veebha talking. The purity and the simplicity that Navya has, is in me as well. But at times she loses track and goes after blind love which is unlike me. I also love the fact that she has the guts to accept any challenge. As no one can dominate her dreams, no one can tell me what to pursue and what not to.
So many young actors are on sets. Any clash of ego or misunderstandings? How is chemistry with your co-stars?
You wouldn't believe if I tell that we never have any ego clashes in spite of being such a young lot. We gel up very well. We are all very matured. At times you'll find all of us locked inside the vanity van and if a person needs some sleep, he won't get it for sure. Our crew members come and disperse us. We eat our food together, gossip and its fun on sets as well.
Any pranks played on you?
Oh yes! And Charlie and Ayaz had ganged up against me. Once we were shooting in a bungalow in Malad and suddenly Charlie had locked up herself inside the washroom. When the door opened we found Charlie behaving strangely and it looked as if she has seen something scary or something is inside her. I got scared and started crying. And then suddenly everybody started laughing. When I got to know that the joke was on me, I didn't talk to Charlie. It was scary and funny.
Are you eyeing Bollywood?
We all wait for that perfect project. Same with me. Right now my focus is Kaisi Yeh Yaariyan'. May be next year something works out for me.
Who is your inspiration?
My father. Throughout my life he has inspired me.
So many youngsters fall prey to crimes due to misuse of technology. Any message for youngsters on the safe usage of their cool' gadgets?
People have affairs on Internet. At times it starts there and ends there. Only suggestion would be not to get carried away on Internet without knowing the person face-to-face. There many uses and misuses of technology. I would like youngsters to see the advantages and practice safe usage of technology. Don't trust anyone blindly.
What is a normal day in Veebha's life like?
My normal day is very boring. I have late night shoot and then on my off-day I sleep whole day. Even my parents complain as I am not able to spend time with them. Even on my off-day I go out with my co-stars who are my friend as well. So my personal and professional life has got mixed up. We go out for long drives and lunch or dinner.
