JK Rowling's writing is galloping downhill after her 4th book. 4th is my most favourite of the series. 5th was terrible explaining all those Hospital descriptions and rules. 6th was plain boring with not much happening like Dravid batting.
7th was much anticipated and frankly I was hoping a book which serves as a bridge between all previous 6 books. That shows the real skill and how well she has thought it out.. But Alas!! It turned out to be just another story very thinly related to previous series.
I still cant digest that Greatest wizard like Voldemort did not know so called laws of wands.. the most elementary things. There was nothing so complex about these "laws". Also it also was excellent example of writer is a true God of characters and can bend story as per will.
I found it very irritating that Dumbledore kept referring to Voldemort as "Lord Voldemort" instead of Tom or simply Voldemort. He will hardly do such honors to infamous student of his.
People have already dwelt at length on how did Naville obtained that sword which was supposed to have been stolen at Gringotts.
What was the point of introducing Dumbledore's bro or sister etc ? It did not serve any great purpose except for showing little gray shades of Dumbledore.. Really amount of time and pages spent on it was not worth it.
Harry Potter with 2 lives (just like Matrix I) was another joke. Where did Dumbledore come from. Why do they meet at King's Cross station.. It was so ill-thought.. again shows lack of respect to reader's sensibility.
The whole concept of Horcrux itself is not very appealing.. I am sure she has borrowed this idea from countless fairy tales but so called "technical explanation" of the process made it more and more confusing and unbelieving. Harry Potter himself being one such Horcrux supposed to be a shocker but fizzled out with barely audible pop due to strange story of "little splitting of the soul."
Harry Potter finds out all remaining Horcruxes so easily.. The story was supposed to be primarily slowly presenting clues for Horcruxes and then finding it and destroying it but Harry gets clues so suddenly that the whole objective of the book is defeated.
The encounter with Dumbledore's portrait in the end was another strange episode. If the portrait can talk and feel like Dumbledore why did Harry not ask it all the questions..
Why did she spend so much time on unnecessary wedding details ? another mystery..
Harry has no great fighting skills.. He is selfish .. even doubts Dumbledore based on some nasty piece of journalism. How can he even think of Ginny just after people died to get him safely. He is unreasonably harsh to Lupin and Ronnie.
Harry Potter does not emerge as hero and this is the biggest drawback of the series.
I think overall the writer has failed and logical pitfalls are gaping.
