A couple of episodes ago, Abhi was beating up Suresh as if he was a real husband who got cheated upon.
To think back, Abhi had this instinct to claim Pragya as his wife many times in the past.
The way they pictured Abhi's character initially showed he was not someone who wanted to marry, settle down at that point of life. He had a girlfriend, so when Daadi forced him to marry, he went for Tannu. But didn't seem like he cared much about the institution of marriage or having a wife.
When he married Pragya, he was the most bored groom ever.
Whether it was Pragya effect, or Bhagya effect, slowly Abhi had come to acquire "wife" feelings for Pragya despite his never ending MUs, hate and assumptions.
One of the first instances was when Aaliyah was buying mangalsutra. When he looks at mangalsutras he remembers Pragya and his marriage and goes thinking about it. Tannu was right there, trying to choose a mangalsutra but he is hardly noticing her.
Also, there have been several situations here and there where he finds himself getting used to the perks of having a wife, the caring that comes with it. The coffee, his stuff that Pragya keeps in order etc.
When Abhi is restaurant with Pragya, and a guy makes obnoxious remarks regarding her, his instinct was to claim that she is his wife and he will kill him if he even looked at her. He could have just said "get lost" or something else to that guy but he had to bring up "my wife" term!
The coporator in the KB hall saving episodes got the worst beatings when he called names on Pragya. And he was so protective in saving her from policeman's baton.
When Pragya was fainting during Karva Chauth, Abhi who was ridiculing her for the whole day, went to hold her and make sure she was okay!
Now, no wonder when he saw her "sleeping" with Suresh, he is finding it impossible to digest it. Somewhere he has put her in the position of his "wife" subconsciously.
Yes, what Abhi does when he is acting according to his thoughts is entirely anti-Pragya, but his reflexes say something else.
