Part 7
Ishita had barely slept that night and had stayed awake till almost 3 am, completing the report. Even though it was due on Wednesday, she finished it beforehand, since she was very sincere about her work and did not believe in leaving things for the last minute.
It was a bright and sunny morning. Ishita got up feeling groggy. Her eyes clearly showed lack of sleep and exhaustion. However, in spite of all this, she proceeded with her chores for the day. After taking a bath, she got dressed. She decided on a blue shirt and a pair of charcoal-coloured trousers and tied up her hair in a ponytail. She looked as fresh as a flower, her face showing no signs of the toil she underwent.
Ishita reached the reception area of her office after punching-in for the day. She greeted Simran.
Ishita - Good morning
Simran - Good morning, ma'am
Ishita - Offo! Don't call me ma'am please! Just call me Ishita!
Simran - Oh alright. Good morning, Ishita
After chatting with Simran for a while, she headed to her working desk. Raman, on the other hand had already reached office before her and was waiting for her to arrive. He stood behind the glass partition in his cabin; looking through the blinds occasionally to check for her arrival. On seeing her, he signalled Sarika, to tell her to meet him. She entered his cabin and Raman's eyes widened with joy.
Raman (to himself) - Oh Ishita! I must say that you have a great dressing sense! Anything you wear makes you look hot! But still why do you tie up that hair of yours? Open hair make you look so sensuous and seductive!
Ishita - Mr President, you called?
Raman - Yes Ishita. I hope that you haven't forgotten about the report and presentation tomorrow
Ishita - Yes, Mr President. I have completed both the things before schedule
Raman was shocked. He did not expect the work to get completed so soon. He guessed that she must have stayed up the previous night completing it. However, he seemed to notice no signs of tiredness.
Raman (thinking) - Wow Hottie! You really are something! I created so much trouble for you. In spite of that you completed everything! And that too before schedule! I will surely have to think of something else! (to Ishita) - Well the thing is that Ishita, you will have to present it today itself!
Ishita was shocked at the sudden change in plan. She wasn't expecting this to happen!
Ishita - But Mr President! I have not prepared at all! How can I present like this!
Raman - I have told you this before as well, it is an order not a request! I will give you an hour to prepare if you wish but you must present it today!
Ishita - Mr President, may I know the reason for this sudden decision?
Raman - That is for me to know and you to guess. Now go and prepare, I want to see you in the conference room in one hour!
Ishita nodded in approval and left the cabin on the verge of crying. Raman was giving her a very hard time.
Ishita (to herself) - How can he do this? President ho company ke toh kuch bhi kar sakte ho kya! He is evil, selfish and his only aim is to see me breakdown. But I will not let that happen. He hasn't seen the real side of Ishita Iyer! I will show you what I am worth!
Raman on the other hand was waiting in his cabin, as an evil grin graced his face. He knew that preparing for a presentation in one hour was a tough thing to do. However, his only aim was to get back at Ishita for his insult. She had bruised his ego and no one had ever dared to that! He wondered how the entire presentation would pan out.
Raman (to himself) - Oh Ishita, I want to see the pain on your face after you fail at that presentation! I will be truly victorious then!
Suddenly, Shagun entered the cabin. She hugged him tightly and noticed the grin.
Shagun - Kya hua, Raman? Such an evil smile, kisi ko marne ka iraada hai kya?
Raman - Haan bas yun hi samajh lo! I have a murderous streak today!
Shagun - Who is your victim then? Sarika? Parmeet? Or your receptionist Simran?
Raman did not want her to know of any of his intentions with respect to Ishita. And definitely, it would be better if she didn't have any knowledge of his hatred cum fantasies of her. He wanted Ishita's existence in Shagun's eyes to be only limited to her being an employee.
Raman - Arre koi bhi nahi. Mere gym ka boxing bag was my victim today. I just kept punching it. And after I go home today, I want to punch it more
Shagun - Oh okay! I thought kiski shaamat aayi hai aaj. Anyways, you continue with your work. I have to go talk to Parmeet regarding some work
An hour had passed by swiftly and Ishita had managed to prepare herself pretty well. She proceeded towards Raman's cabin when she met Sarika.
Sarika - Oh hi Ishita. Kya hua? Why are you in so much tension?
Ishita - Hi Sarika, Mr President asked me to show the presentation today which I was supposed to tomorrow. Isiliye tensed hoon nothing else. Tell me, does he trouble you also like this?
Sarika - No not all. But I must say that I have noticed a difference in his behaviour after you joined. He is easily distracted and very irritable. I wonder why
Ishita (to herself) - He must be plotting against me, what else? Doesn't he have other things like his family or Shagun to worry about? (to Sarika) - Oh achcha. Anyways, I gotta go otherwise he will kill me!
She entered his cabin. Raman told her to sit while he attended to some urgent work. After sometime, both of them headed to the conference room. The peon helped Ishita set up the projector. She noticed that among the numerous chairs in the conference room, only one chair was occupied.
Ishita - Mr President, is anyone else going to be here apart from you?
Raman - No Ms Ishita, only I will be present here. Now could you please start with your presentation?
Ishita opened the presentation file on her laptop. The first introductory slide read MARKETING - Perception and Understanding by Ishita Singh'. She began by saying that how marketing was very important to ensure the sale of a product.
Ishita - Marketing is more than advertising or selling. It is a complex process involving three steps: (1) determine what customers want or need; (2) supply the customer with the goods and services to satisfy these wants and needs; (3) do so at a price that shows a profit to the business. Good marketing starts before a product is produced or a service delivered.
First, determine if there is a market for the product or service. This is one of the most critical questions for any business. Then, analyze the market to understand customers, competitors and the supply network. Next, look closely at the product or service. Try to be as objective as possible. Ask the following questions:
- Is the product or service in constant demand? Is there a need?
- How many competitors provide the same product or service?
- What is your competitive advantage?
- Can a demand for the product or service be created?
- Can the business compete in price, quality and services?
- Can the product or service be priced to generate the projected profit?
Business is profit and risk. Understanding the market can lessen the risk. To be successful in business, identify the target market, determine benefits customers perceive to be important, and communicate those benefits to potential customers.
(I really have no idea about Marketing or anything since I am a Science student and it is like trying to learn Hebrew for me! So forgive me if I have written anything out of context as I have copied this from some website)
As Ishita spoke, Raman kept looking at her lips. He noticed that she had a slight pout every time after finishing a sentence. He was hardly listening to what she spoke but rather kept admiring her womanly form. All the features on her face were perfect; her big, rounded brown eyes, her slightly sharp nose and a pair of lips that could even put Angelina to shame! He noticed her broad but slender shoulders. They made clothes look really good on her while wondering how halters would look on her. His eyes flicked at her two rounded, well-shaped and well-placed breasts. Perfect!' he thought. Her waist was slim and slender and her slightly broad hips were perfectly in line with her shoulders. Perfect hour-glass!' his mind spoke. Meanwhile, Ishita went on with the presentation, unaware that she had lost his attention.
Ishita - Market perception is the consumer response to a company's products and services. A company with positive perception may be considered to offer products and services with good value, and to be a sound buy for investors. Negative impressions indicate that consumers and investors do not view a firm favorably. Companies can use a variety of tools to research consumer response and develop plans for improving their position in a given market. Consumer impressions of firms play a key role in their success. A company with products and services considered to be of superior quality and value can earn a higher market share, and may attract interest in new endeavors as it expands. This is particularly important when market mavens, people believed to have an inside track on information, have a positive perception of a company. Early adopters in the tech industry, for example, can determine whether a new product catches on or is ignored by consumers.
Afte completing her presentation, she asked him if he had any questions. Raman, who had been distracted by Ishita's beauty, snapped of his merriment. He saw Ishita looking at him intently and was embarrassed to be caught unawares. Though he had been paying full attention in the beginning, he got lost in her eloquence and couldn't stop himself from thinking about her further. He was truly left smitten by this girl, who was a combined package of good looks and an amazing mind. But every time he felt this way about her, he reminded himself about the insult.
Raman - Well, Ishita that was an amazing presentation! You prepared very well for the limited amount of time you had! Very impressive!
Ishita (to herself) - Thank God! He at least liked it. I proved him wrong again! (to Raman) - Thank you, Mr. President! I am glad that you appreciated it!
Raman - Okay Ishita, you may leave now. Oh wait, what about the report?
Ishita - I have it on my laptop and need to print it out. Is it fine if I give it to you by evening?
Raman - Okay, evening is fine
Ishita disconnected her laptop from the projector and left the room. Raman kept sitting in the same place and could not stop smirking.
Raman - Ishita the Hottie! Aur kitna deewana banaogi? Jitna bhi tumhe niche laane ki koshish karta hoon, utna hi tum oopar uthkar aati ho! But even I won't give up! I will keep trying till I have shown you your place!
Ishita was pleased and had a wide smile on her face. She was at her desk, taking print outs of the report when Sarika and Simran came there.
Sarika - Hi Ishita! How was the presentation?
Ishita - Sarika, kya batau, it was awesome! Mr. President praised it so much! (to herself) - And I shut his mouth proving that I could do it!
Simran - Arre tell me also, kya hua tha?
Sarika then told Simran the entire story.
Simran - Oh okay, congrats Ishita
The trio continued talking and Sarika invited Ishita to have lunch at her desk. They kept chatting, laughing and making merry. Raman could easily see the three women from his cabin and smirked looking at Ishita's carefree and smiling face.
Raman - I promise myself, Ishita that one day I will take that smile away from your face!
Lunch break soon got over and Ishita was heading towards her desk when she met her father and told him about everything that happened. He patted her head and told her good going beta'. Raman saw this from the cabin and felt a little envious seeing all the love between them, as some memories flashed by. He could not help but notice the special bond that Ishita and her father shared. It would definitely pain her father to know about all the suffering he was inflicting on his daughter. But she would never tell her father anything at any cost.
The day at the office went by quickly. It was evening and Ishita took the report to his cabin.
Ishita - Mr. President, here is the report
Raman took the huge stack of papers which was the result of her hard work.
Ishita - Okay, Mr. President. I will take my leave
Raman - Wait Ishita, you think I will let you leave my cabin without giving you more work? Here take this file. It has all the things you need to know for your conference call on Friday. Make sure you read it and make your own file on similar lines. You need to make a budget for your department and hand it over to me at the earliest.
Raman then gave her some more work while she nodded in response. She was irritated but had no other choice.
Raman - Okay Ishita, you may leave
Precap - Ishita's conference call.
