Hey Everyone 😊

I just recently watched the KWK show that featured Ekta Kapoor and her band of boys... 😉... I mean three fine actors from the telly world... Ram Kapoor, Ronit Roy and Hiten Tejwani. Yes, I know that show aired a while back but I just watched it recently. Anyways while watching it something came to my mind. Can telly stars ever be bollywood stars?

Let's see... all three men on the show as well as others are immensely popular and talented. They play many different characters on different shows and have a huge fan following. People watch them day after day yet never seem to get bored of them. All these actors obviously have the talent, the personality to draw people towards them and the stamina to work many hours a day. So why is it that we don't see any of them making it big in Bollywood? Why is it that they only get cameos to play in movies, roles that if you blink you miss them?

Is it b/c Bollywood is currently ruled by Star son/daughters and models who will not allow the entrance of a TV star?

Is it b/c most tellystars have already tried their hand in Bollywood and failed so they are happy with just working on Television?

Is there some difference b/w bollywood actors and Tellywood actors?

If your fav. Televison actor was doing a movie would you spend the money and time to go and watch him to support him???

And what if I were to ask the reverse question what about Bollywood stars coming on Televison, in a daily soap not game show... would they make it???

And lastly and most importantly do you think Bollywood is still bigger than Tellywood? (Maybe these actors are just not trying for bollywood any longer b/c Television is better medium to conect to the viewers with?)

****The only exception to all this is SRK who has made a success on all mediums... hats off to him!!!!****

Exactly, sharukh i think was the only exception. But there was another girl who made it to films. She was in lagaan and in munnabhai mbbs. I know she was in tv before but i cant recall the serial. But i havent seen her in any films recently. I think tellystars becoming bollystars is less likely now especially as you said cuz of all the star sons. I guess television is tougher, cuz serials run for years and a movie takes approximetley 3 months to shoot. You can also be doing more than 1 serial at a time. I think the television industry bigger because there are alot more people who watch tv, then people who watch movies. There is also alot of channels producers and serials. Lots of competition aswell. A show getting the best TPRs and channel earning more money. I think, im not sure but telly actors must get paid more than actors. IF ofcourse they are a part of a really popular tv show. I think its much easier to be cast for a role in a tv show than a movie. There are lots of bollywood actors who do tv. Pankaj kapoor did tv, and he is an actor.

Yah her name is Gracy Singh, she was in the show Amanat on Zee tv... she was a great actress but didn't go too far b/c she did not want to expose what so ever.. I guess that is a big issue these days as well... especially for female actors... 😕 ... but u make a good point about Pankaj Kapoor.. he has managed both well... 😊 ... while serials go for years... in Bollywood you get more opportunities as an actor since you get to play more characters... with each new movie...

yes they can become but usually they don't become as popular they were in tellywood having some exceptional or they don't want to take such a big step...i think its quite difficult to make your name in bollywood...so many new actors come in bollywood every year having done good nobody know them...and when anyone realted to star comes this media make big hype about it...like you said bollywood is being ruled by man stars son/daughter or any other relative but their are few who made their name without having any bollywood background...so its quite hard for a newcomer to make his/her name...like if a star's son/daughter come in a movie usually people go to watch the movie to see if that person good is like his/her mom,dad etc...but when a newcomer comes usually people think twice if they want to go and watch movie
i think we have some extremely talented telly actors who way better than some of the bollywood ones but they won't get a chance to make their name in bollywood...in end i think its just hard for people to digest that telly star can be a bollywood star

well , i think that these days the television stars are more popular.........and no offense but a lot of them can act better too
all or mostly all of them are famous ...just about all the soap operas are a success...and today all most everyone house (dezi) has at least one person watching one soap opera...
i can tell you in my house we watch like all of them
i feel that tv stars are also seemingly more nicer and not so stuck up........ even as far as makeup, jewelery, saris, and salwars they are so pretty ad lavish and the makeup is done so much better on tv than movies...
Today most people might be able to live without watching movies , but they would get so into waiting for their soaps on Saturdays ... as we see on each of the forums on if ...as we all make the crazy predictions......

for the most part they can't because they don't. shakrukh khan in the only actor i can think of that went from telly star to movie star. tellystars have only recently gained lots of fame before television, espacially ones who work with ekta in her saas-bahu shows. tv on india for a while time was a dumping ground for actors who didn't/couldn't make it in movies and thats still atleast a little true.

hey sregama-fan! kudos to u for this topic? to be honest yaar,i think telly stars have become more popular than there bollywood counterparts.millions and millions of people tune into there couches to watch there fav stars.Especially with the sudden boom of tv in these years,tv is no longer a step brother of tv.Infact tthey have much broader reach.just see how popular are stars who work in soaps especially those of ekta's...be it tulsi, parvati, prerna etc...,millions of people idolise them. But sometimes this goes against there favours sometimes. When a character becomes extremly popular with the audience ,they just refuse to accept the same actor playing something else on big screen. Most of the time our telly stars are offered miss and blink role on screen and hence they do not get to showcase there acting talents.

But there is an other side of the coin too.Even the many successful bollywood stars have failed to create there mark on tv arena, the same way in which our telly stars have failed on big screen.there are so many examples-anupam kher, karisma kapoor, raveen tandon, manisha koriala any many others. The only successful actors of bolly i have seen who cud leave there mark are AMITABH BACHAAN ,SHARUKH KHAN AND OF COURSE KJO WITH KOFFEE WITH KARAN.

SO u see it does not mean that if ur a successful bollywood star,u can easily make ur mark on tv.Infact its more difficult and kudos to our telly actors who are able to glue zillions of audience to tv even if they are potraying the same character for years👏
