Last year Karunya sang some amazingly difficult and very unpopular songs but he managed to reach the Top 2 just because great judge Sonu Nigam was supporting him all the way. The judjes like Javed Akhtar should encourage contestants to take up difficult songs and display their abilities. Sonu did that for past 2 years but that is really missing this year. Except for Udit, none of the judges have appreciated a contestant taking up a difficult song (Udit did that for YE HOSLA when prashant sang it).

Most contestants are singing ABC songs which is taking away from the chaska of the program. Last year all contestants like Karu, Amey, Sandeep sang some diffficult songs and it was fun to hear them.

i have to agree, but in order to win i think it's best that you choose songs which have some appeal to the voters. If you choose difficult songs which have zero appeal then that's also not going to work. I like what Amit's doing, he chooses old songs which are hard but yet upbeat and populor. but when he chooses new songs he chooses one which are hard but yet slow and romantic. This way he appeals to the older crowd( like my dad is crazy about his singing) and the younger crowd( like i'm crazy about his singing). This seems like a good strategy. Emon did a good job with song selection before the gala's but after the gala's began he hasn't shown a lot of improvement in that area. Last week was good but he could have done better. Deepali is also good when it comes to showing versatality through singing. Prashant needs to focus more on songs which suit his voice and not take songs just cos there hard. He's song selection has been always tough songs but he would do much better if he chose simple songs for which he can give a way above average perforamance.

i think a gud singer is liked more than his song
a variety of songs different songs will do the trick but unless u r a gud singer u can't win the audence
karunya sang sum very unpopular songs but was always appriciated as he was a gud singer
on the other hand parleen, ankita choose songs that r popular and easy ans get appreciation
prashant chooses songs that r difficult but ends up spoiling them
and amit has sung all kinds of songs and did justice 2 them

all i want 2 say is that amit and karunya will always b better singers than ankita and parleen just b'coz they r better singers and watever songs they sing will b a treat

but singers like ankita and parleen have 2 depend on a popular song 2 get them through
