Song Selection?

They should chose a song that is not an ABC song but a moderate to difficult song to show their singing ability. Imho 'Ye hosla', 'hawa hawaii', 'kaho na kaho', 'In dino dil mera', 'jhoomro', 'mitwa', are examples of difficult songs.
On the other hand even a college singer can come on stage and sing 'I am the best', 'chama chama', 'bijli giri' or 'dil keh raha he'..

It should be something the public will like
should suit their voice and personality. should show their range and most importantly should be unique and each week bring out versatility.

I like the song selection in srgmp show. The contestants of II could do the same. A good theme and some work on voice modulation and sing openly. So far in the galas I have only like Amit, Emon, Puja, Deepali and to some extend Ankita. Others are singing like in school function.

Look II is supposed to give the industry a bumper singer. Its a singing competition after all.

Last year Karunya sang some amazingly difficult and very unpopular songs but he managed to reach the Top 2 just because great judge Sonu Nigam was supporting him all the way. The judjes like Javed Akhtar should encourage contestants to take up difficult songs and display their abilities. Sonu did that for past 2 years but that is really missing this year. Except for Udit, none of the judges have appreciated a contestant taking up a difficult song (Udit did that for YE HOSLA when prashant sang it).

Most contestants are singing ABC songs which is taking away from the chaska of the program. Last year all contestants like Karu, Amey, Sandeep sang some diffficult songs and it was fun to hear them.
