What is happiness to you ? -- being aware and appreciative of the simple little joys of life. like when i am with a loved one and we are perfectly happy and comfortable just being together.... when someone who loves me can read my mind and thoughts without me having to say a single word. when some one goes out of their way to do something sweet or thoughtful or nice for me.....Awww geee a whole lot of other stuff too...guess i am just easily pleased.

is it more normal to be unhappy ? --not really, but its human nature to pursue happiness as a long term goal with such vengeance that we forget to live in the moment...

Why we tend to remember sad moments more than happy times? -- It's not that we don't remember happy times...but that most people usually prefer to dwell on their sad moments. most people think " It's not that there are others with problems bigger than mine it's just that my problems are MINE"

what is more important for happiness to love or to be loved? -- Both. not to be loved is quite frustrating and lonely. Not loving anyone at all makes you a cold and selfish person.

majority of people are unhappy or atleast percieve themselves unhappy .. is it more normal to be unhappy ? 😊

i think they love themselves more tha n anyone / anything else. occasional bursts of unhappiness on a normal day is okay, but being unhappy all the time is not normal.

Oh I dont' mean anywhere the abnormal levels of unhappiness here.. I mean in general when we talk with people .. you may find them unhappy about system , friends, inlaws , boss , work , american life style , desi life style , politician😉 etc. you hardly find complete satisfaction with every aspect of life internal at spritual level or social from home to country to world .

It is important to love. Over 90% of the times, it will be returned and you'll be loved in ample.. Love completes me and is prime ingredient of my happiness. I have met bitter people in RL who cannot love anyone more than themselves. Even their kids are secondary to them. I would be very unhappy if I were that kind of a person. Happiness to me is to love and cherish.

nicely said ..... you'll be loved in ample if you love ..😊

but by this definition one would expect love in return too ?

as you give an example of people who love to themselves not to others .. if only to love is important than it shouldn't be a matter with whom they love .. either to others or to themselves untill unless "To be loved" become compulsory part of it. cause such people ultimately wouldnt' be love by others at some point .

Happiness is something which comes from within.

There are happy and sad times in everyone's life and it is part of life. As long as we learn to accept them and cherish them for what they are we definitely can have smile on our face 😊.

Negative people bring others down along with themself 😔.

Even though one could be loved by everyone but for some reason if there is no self love they will feel unhappy, not content and miserable. In that process will make others around them miserable too. My 2 cents 😳

very nice post as usual Varsha didi 😊

I think to define happiness is certainly a very difficult thing .

My question is .. if it is something from within than the outer stimulus shouldn't affect it or have minimal effects .. what you say is it true or not ?

very nice response Gauri 😊

How would you differentiate satisfaction of desires with happiness . to have someone to love is satisfaction of one desire .. to be loved another satisfaction .

as I replied Cutes in detail I am not including people who are by any means need medical attention 😆

because I hardly see any one who are in perfect level of peace /satisfaction /happiness

Thanks Vinu .. .. different response😊

this questions come up in my mind several time.. our body tend to maintain a balance...homeostasis.. ideal situation for body to be in workng condition ..

so if I apply the same rule on brain .. so what should be the point of homeostasis for brain .. peace/happiness/ satisfaction or unrest of anykind .. cause if we are satified in every sense our thought process would be forzen ..which may not be an ideal situation for brain ..so m still wondering ..what is our default condition at higher level😆
