Part 8 ~ DAY 1

The real part of "30 days to make you stay" starts now ! Enjoy day 1!😃

In the morning in sohum's room : the two of them are sleeping with a big distance in between and their back turned at one another. When sohum starts to get up, it awakes rajji. She jumps out of the bed as well and starts to get ready (readjusting her clothes and such). Sohum comes towards the closet but he bumps into rajji who was going towards the footboard of the bed to rearrange the covers. Rajji puts her hands up as an apology with an expression of shock. Sohum shakes slightly his head as to say that it's okay. He continues toward the closet but stops and calls rajji. She turns around quickly, her eyes wide open, she is still a bit weirded out by sleeping in the same bed as him and it's weird for her to not be ignored totally for once.

Sohum : "I'm going to take a shower. Please, get my clothes ready for me." Then he goes into the bathroom without giving her a second look. Rajji is happy. When sohum gets out of the bathroom, the bed is made and his clothes are on it. Rajji is standing next to it.

Sohum : "thank you rajji." Rajji is very happy to have succeeded. Sohum is brushing his hair in front of the mirror and says "Rajji... If you don't mind, would you please... go and make me a cup of tea?"

rajji : "I'm going right now!" and gets out of the room. Sohum turns towards the bed and looks at his clothes. He is lost in his thoughts. He is not happy or sad, he just feels tired already as he realizes that he took a step on a tiring path but he had no other choice. It's tiring him to pay so much attention to Rajji and integrate him in his morning routine by any means he can.

When he comes out of his room, Simren and Angad are already sitting and they are looking at him very happily. To them everything is back in order and they are very satisfied with the current situation. Sohum is glad that they're not mad at him anymore but he is under stress because he feels the weight of being married and committed to someone. His mind is constantly gravitating towards Rajji, thinking about what to do and what to say to make her happy or at least to not make her disappointed in him. He starts to feel empathetic towards her because now he realize how stressed she must have been when buhajee was here.

Rajji comes out of the kitchen with his cup of tea. She hands it to him and he says "thank you rajji" repressing a sigh. She notices but she doesn't say anything and sits down. Then angad starts to say how great it is that she is finally back with them because the few days she was gone, her absence felt like a burden and the whole house was quiet. Simreen agrees and Rajji smiles timidly. She looks at sohum but he has no expression on his face, he is drinking his tea silently.

Cuggi comes in and says that today they have some business meeting at the farm and that they should hurry up and go. Sohum drinks rapidly the rest of his tea and hands the empty cup back to rajji. It makes her happy that he actually drank it. "Thanks again rajji. The tea was really tasty." He attempts to smile (a fake smile to make her happy) but doesn't feel comfortable, especially with everyone watching him so he rushes outside, dragging cuggi while rajji is going into the kitchen.

As they are walking towards the field, cuggi asks "what was that?"

sohum acts innocent "what was what?"

cuggi mimics sohum words to rajji "thanks agaiiin rajjiii. The tea was reallyyy tastyyy THAT!" he says, putting his arm over sohum's shoulder.

sohum pushes him away and says "what yaar... I'm trying to make things right with her. I'm tired of fighting all the time."

"But what happened so suddenly that you want to make things right?" he is half joking and insinuating things.

Sohum : "Are yaar baas kar! It's just that she deserves better. And there is no point for me to still think about bani who is away in canada with her Parmeet" Sohum looks sad suddenly and cuggi stops joking.

Cuggi : "Yaar, you're making the right decision. Rajji is really a nice girl." "Yah" sohum replies then they walk silently.

At home when rajji come out of the kitchen, she is smiling, holding her husband's lunch. Simren and angad at smiling at each other because of the "thank you rajji" scene but then they stops when they see rajji coming out with the packed lunch. Rajji looks around sohum is gone, she feels defeated (things were going so smooth up until now and seeing that sohum still doesn't want to eat her food is quite saddening for her).

Simren gets up, "Aye bagwan! Yeh laddka bhi to! Lunch ko bhull hi gaya! Rajji, go after him and give it to him!"

angad gets up too and he is angry "Nahi simren. Rajji already did her part of the job, she made him his lunch. If he is determined to ignore her efforts, then he deserves to starve. There is no need to bring him food that he won't eat."

Simren is worried "But..."

Angad interrupts her "Rajji, go put if back in the kitchen, we'll eat it later."

Sohum is still walking with Cuggi when he realizes he forgot to take his lunch. "tssk. I forgot my lunch at home!" He puts his hand on his hip and the other one on his forehead.

Cuggi : "Yaar, itna pareshan khi kya baat hai? We'll order something near the keth!"

Sohum : "Naa thu samajh nahi raha hai. I need to go back"

Cuggi : "Kya? But we have a meeting to attend, we can't be late!"

S : "I know yaar. Listen, I'll go home running and I'll try to be back before they arrive. You go ahead in case they arrive early." Cuggi starts to protest but sohum is already running in the opposite direction.

Rajji goes back in the kitchen and starts unpacking the lunch lost in her thoughts. She feels sad because she is sure that sohum didn't just forget his lunch, he was probably really eager to get her out of his sight. Suddenly she ears someone calling her name "Rajji!" She turns around and sees sohum panting at the door. "... Rajji... Lunch...Forgot... Quick!... meeting..." he speaks without being able to catch his breath. The word "forgot" gives rajji all of her hopes back. She ties the lunch quickly and hands it over to him. He takes it and without saying a word, starts running away. Rajji laughs softly.

At the keth, Sohum meets some businessmen. They discuss a long time and the businessmen who are NRI are very impressed with sohum's work and ideas. They are talking about sending Sohum to Canada this month so they can show him their own business then decide on a partnership.

At night, Sohum is thinking about the discussion at the keth and is preoccupied about the whole situation. Going to Canada would be great but at the same time scary. And he can't go now since rajji just came back.

During dinner he is very silent. Only rajji notices that.

When they're alone in the bedroom, Rajji tries to ask him what preoccupies him but Sohum gets irritated with her and tells her that he doesn't want to talk. Rajji is hurt so she goes to sleep without another word. Once again, Rajji reminds herself that she is no one to sohum so she shouldn't care about him because it only makes him more angry. She cries silently part of the time and finally falls asleep very late.

Part 9 ~ Day2

In the morning Rajji is quiet as she is still thinking about what happened between her and sohum the previous night. Sohum notices that she is avoiding his eyes. As she is putting his clothes on the bed, he calls calmly "Rajji?"

She says "yes?" without looking at him

Sohum : "Hmm.. I wanted to apologize... if last night I've been a bit rude. It's just that there is a lot going on at work lately so I was a bit tensed..."

Rajji : "that's okay."

Sohum "no. I shouldn't have lashed it out on you. I'm sorry."

Rajji feels better so she smiles gently at him at him meaning that she doesn't mind. He gives her a small smile back.

From there, everything is very smoothes between Rajji and Sohum. They get along in the house fluidly and don't bump into each other. After the breakfast, Angad asks sohum if he is going to the keth but Sohum says that he has to go to the bazaar, angad says that then he will go to the keth.

Sohum starts going out when Rajji comes after him. "Sohum..." He turns around slowly, surprised to hear her calling out his name so boldly.

Rajji realizes what she just did, she gets shy "Wo...kuch nahi"

Sohum :"Bhollo"

Rajji feeling more confident : "I needed some things from the bazaar. I mean... if you have the time. No it's okay if you can't, I'll understand. Forget what I said -she shakes her head "that's okay"- I can go by myself, I'll take the bus."

She starts going back but sohum calls for her "Rajji. You can tell me what you need, I'll bring it for you."

Rajji says "I need some carrots, and boundi, and matter and wo pilak and okras and..."

"Rajji. I won't be able to remember all of that. You should write it down for me."

Rajji agrees shyly and starts to go back inside but Angad is behind her and he stops her. "Sohum. Maybe Rajji could go with you, don't you think?" Rajji looks a Sohum.

Sohum sighes and say "Haan. Rajji you can go with me... if you want."

Rajji looks at Andag and he smiles and nods at her to give her approval. Rajji says "I'll be ready in two minutes. Just two minutes!"

Andag puts his hand on sohum shoulder, still smiling. We can see that he is proud of him. "Accha, I'm going then. See you in the evening."

Rajji comes out a few minutes later and sohum turns on the engine of the motorcycle. Rajji sits back but too far from sohum so that she is unstable. Sohum notices it and looks back at Rajji. She understands his looks and gets a bit closer and put her hand on his shoulder to have more stability, sohum nods and off they go.

They do all of Rajji's groceries. Rajji notices that sohum is looking at his watch. "Sohum?" He looks at her surprised "Sohum, I'm sorry I'm taking so much time. I should have come by myself... Sorry" He takes a second and says that it's not that. It's just that he has to go do some administration papers and the office closes before 12pm. Rajji says that she'll do the rest of the groceries alone since she only has one more thing to get, meanwhile he can go do the paper work, then they could meet up right in front of the office and go home. Sohum hesitates but Rajji says that she is fine. Sohum goes.

When he gets out of the office he doesn't see Rajji. He waits but after some time she still isn't here. He starts to worry and looks around. Eventually he starts to walk around. He walks along the building and at the corner he sees Rajji waiting. Then he notices two young men harassing verbally Rajji. She looks very unconfortable. He runs towards them and starts a fight with the guys "What is wrong with you two? You're trying to harass my wife?". They took off running.

Sohum then turns to Rajji and says angrily "We agreed to meet at the entrance of the building didn't we?"

"But Sohum... this building has an entrance on each of the four sides. I didn't know which one it was."

"Well that's right... but you could have phoned me to tell me where you were at. I was waiting for you just there. When you didn't see me coming, why didn't you phone me?"

Rajji doesn't answer.

"Rajji. I'm asking you something!"

"Wo..."

"Wo... What? Bholl!"

"I... I don't have a phone." She is looking uncomfortable. Sohum is afraid she might start to cry so he stops shouting immediately.

"Rajji. I'm sorry. I forgot you didn't have one. Let's go." He takes her bags and they start walking in the opposite direction of the motorcycle. "Sohum? Where are we going?"

He stops walking, turns around and says "We're going to buy you a phone. Come on." He starts walking and she follows him intimidated.

When they get back home, simreen asks rajji if she found everything that was on the groceries list. Rajji says yes. Simreen asks what is on the pink paper bag. Rajji looks at sohum.

Sohum starts to speak "Babhi... Wo rajji ke pass mobile phone nahi tha to mene socha ke mein usko ekh lekhe doon."

Simreen smile "Accha kya tumne Sohum. Having a phone gets really handy."

At night, Rajji is looking at her new phone. Sohum comes near her and stretches out his hand. Rajji looks at him and give him the phone. After a few seconds he gives it back to her saying "here." And he gets out of the room.

She sees on the screen his name and his phone number. She holds the phone on her heart, smiling.

Feeling bad for rajji but she is calm n composed..
