ppl in the potraits cn move from one potrait to the other..and if the potrait is charmed,the person in the potrait wud knw all the latest happenings..

well in this case..when dd and harry were discussing the prophecy in the ootp the potraits were wide awake and cud hear everythng..

so ,if sirius' gr8 gr8 grandfather cud go to his other potrait in grimmauld plc...wht guarantee that other headmasters or headmistresses will not go to any other plc...??i mean lets say if one of them are related to the malfoys and have a potrait at malfoy mansion ..wud they not b able to leak out facts..??

i was just wondering..if this cud b..bcoz dd and harry were discussing real confidential stuff..

I dunt think dat untill and unless dumbledore was 100% sure he wud have discussed such confidental information in the room. So defintly he was sure dat he discused dis near all the potraits. And i dunt potraits can really tell secrets.. 😳

well that's a good point. I think the headmasters wouldn't say that to everyone.

well i guess the potraits at the headmaster's office are bound to be at the current headmaster's service and hence are bound to obey orders to the stricktest possible extent, so maybe dumbledore might have forbidden them to speak anything they heard in the study to anyone else...its like kind of the magical contractual binding, even if they wanted to tel they had no choice but to keep quite...

They could if they wanted to because they can visit other portraits of them selves and in DH Sirius's Grandfather fed information about the trio's whereabouts to Snape!!
