OK, this has been a new sensational campaign in our country.
The clean campaign isnt new, albiet this the only programme that has reached the public like never before - when Indian government already had Total Sanitation Campaign(Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan) that did work out successfully. Modi ji has a knack for commanding people's attention ey? 😛
Anyways, PM holding the broom, speaking a few words, requesting people wouldnt do it...although some sensible people would be reminded of their responsibilities as a citizen, as a human.
The programme has to be community-led(like TSC)...since many people did respond positively to PM's campaign, is there a change in people's mindset? Are you(personally) more cautious about your own conduct, your own surroundings? Do you have any ideas on how to keep your own colony neat and well-ordered?? Do you have any ideas or suggestions on how Indian Govt, your local municipalties are ought to tackle this dirt menace everywhere(your colony atleast) keeping in view the funds and technology constraints? 😆
Sorry if this topic is boring 😛

People like 'humne kya desh ka theka liya hua hai?' do exist unfortunately. People need to know charity starts from home and that many single drops make an ocean.Education is the need before the broom.

^ oo... one reply for this 😆 sooo agree with charity begins at home.
Before education or awareness, it is basic aesthetic sense a human ought to have. IDK why and how there are millions who lack it.
People blame it on government, for lack of dustbins, for no timely cleaning etc. But I believe when the civil society is strong, makes it's demand clear enough to the municipalities(letter-writing, etc)... things will definitely change. Sadly very few civil societies are strong in the country :(

From what I've observed is that there are only two things that greatly affects this country & people care about: Cricket & Bollywood.
From what I've seen people complain about their country but never take initiative to change the wrong. & More than charity, it's change that begins with you/yourself. If charity begins at home than change begins from within one's self.
People mostly fail to understand this, & even if they do, they never want to act upon what they believe. Mostly its like " joh garajte hain woh baraste nahi" type of thing.

(& this is completly my POV & opinion, no offence to anyone or thing in particular)

The SBA is a trigger for social change and for it to succeed, it requires a massive unified attempt to clean up, and this initiative was long due... let's see how long this social change lasts!

big failure. Indians aren't like that to get "inspired" by a few celebs moving their broomsticks. they need to have it instilled in them by means of fear, not shame nor any sense of righteousness.

First off, it just is a series of ads and other campaigns where it tells people to not litter or defecate. That's not enough.

First off, we need proper waste disposal mechanisms to show people what it looks like to have a clean city. Then maybe they'll feel like keeping it clean and wont litter at least, if not take out their brooms. This will need huge investment in personnel, machinery, vehicles and whatnot.

Also, we need PROPER investment in roads, pavements, driveways, etc. make it look beautiful, so people will FEEL LIKE KEEPING IT CLEAN. Chances of them wanting to keep it clean is more if it is nice to look at.

And we need proper waste disposal units, not that open smelly green can.

Also we need improved drainage systems, and I mean IMPROVED.

Finally , we need strict laws for littering, spitting, defecating etc, just like it in singapore. Jail time along with payment of a fine. Then again we need a proper police force for this, not some lazy, potbellied men.

Anyway these have been my thoughts about the campaign brewing in my head for a while. Thought I'd share. This seemed the right place. :)

Nice topic.
