Part 2
Suneheri was in a panic. What on earth just happened here? Aahil wanted to get MARRIED again? It turns out that his marriage to Sanam was a contract and it's about to end? Not that legally it meant anything? But I supposed he wanted to do the whole marriage thing in the right way this time? It turns out they got married because of a stipulation in his Father's Will? Who would have thought Romeo ki aulaad, Aahil's marriage to Sanam was a marriage of convenience? She wondered if he had fallen in love with her after they got married. It's not like she can ASK him? He will think she lost it? Not to mention the fact that it would blow her cover?
Funny how some people got married to the same person twice, and she didn't even get to get married once? She had never thought that marriage was on the cards for her? But after meeting Rehan and falling for him, she had entertained such thoughts? "More fool me" she thought. She was going in search of Razia, when Aahil had called her to the room and dropped this bombshell on her? Now she HAD to look for that Paan ki Dukaan. Because there was NO way, she was going to get married? This was ridiculous? Is this a con job, or is she acting in some Saas Bahu Saga? Evil Mother in law, crazy relatives, lover boy husband, weird servants, and everyone after the Hero's money? The only normal person here was Rehan? She had no idea how he lives with these people either? Aahil was not too bad, but his love for his wife was a headache for her, coz she was NOT his damned wife! THAT was the problem.
Razia came to her room, and she told her about Aahil and his plans for marriage? She told her to "Just Do It?" What was this? A F****ng NIKE commercial? She had laughed at Razia. "No Way lady!" she had told her. She was not going to get married to some women's husband for money? She had offered her another 50 lakhs? But still NO was the answer. She had to clear her head? Think of her next strategy? She should try and get those papers singed by Aahil somehow in the next few days, so she can get her money and leave! GET Married? That old women was insane?
As she was making her way down the hall, she saw him! Rehan was looking at something? Oh My God...that was the receipt from the Dhaba? That Dhaba that she had taken him to and ordered enough food for an army at?How puzzled and exasperated he had looked? Suneheri smiled. "I bet he never met a girl who eats so much? Probably only knows girls who eat like birds, so they can keep their figure? If you ever knew what going hungry felt like, then you know the value of food?
Shushipal uncle and Rosie aunty may be bad people, but at least they had taken her off the streets and given her a sort of home? She didn't have to go hungry anymore? Not know where her next meal came from? In exchange for a certain amount of security in her life, she had become Shushipal uncle's apprentice. She had helped him with his cons, helped him steal and he had taught her all the tricks of the trade. How to break locks, how to get people to trust her. Also, being a pretty girl, everyone underestimated her. They never realise that a pretty girl can actually be a dangerous criminal as well? Stupid people? Even Rehan? He had not thought for a moment that she might be a criminal? That is why he had stopped his car and helped her? She shook her head. Rehan was a good guy? So he trusted people? He had trusted her, and she had broken his trust? But here he was looking at that Dhaba chit? Looking at it like he was remembering something? Remembering her?
Suneheri stepped forward and called out to Rehan. He smiled at her. No he smiled at Sanam! She asked him if what he was looking at was significant. She looked at him, eyes hopeful? Eager to hear his response. Then he crushed her with his next words. "No" he said. "Nothing worth remembering". Her face fell. He threw the bill away. "It was all a lie. It's better to forget someone who is nothing but a pretender". Suneheri felt tears sting her eyes. "He hates me!"She thought.
"Yes Rehan. Such people are only worth forgetting. You shouldn't even remember them, even if they are dying".
She walked away from there. What more was left to say? He didn't love her anymore. No one did? But why was she surprised at this? All her life, she had had no one? She had been used to it? What was so different now? But those days, that is all she had known. She didn't know anything else? She had nothing to compare with. If ONLY she had not found out what it was like to feel like she belonged? For the first time in her life, she felt like maybe even SHE Suneheri, can have someone in her life that cared about HER? Someone she can call her own? She gave a sarcastic smile. More fool her? Girls like her never got a happy ending? Only girls like Sanam did? She seemed like this nice, decent girl? Comes from a good family and all. That is why a Nawab like Aahil had fallen for her? She was not a con artist, thief like her? Living on her wits? Street wise? But for ALL her street wisdom, she had broken the most golden Rule!
"NEVER get emotionally involved with your Target! Never fall in love!"
Love was for fools! Suneheri was no fool. Rehan didn't love her? FINE. "Don't love me Rehan. Yes I am a liar, and a thief. I don't need you anyway. Thank you for showing me an impossible dream! Thanks a LOT Rehan!" She thought vehemently. She suddenly remembered a line from an old Shah Ruk Khan movie. "Khabhi Kushi Khabhi Ghum". In that story, Shahruk's character Rahul was being told by his wife Anjali that they should reunite with his family? Leave London and go back to India. He looks at her with sadness in his eyes. He tells her.
"Tum Nahin samjogi Anjali! You don't understand what it's like to be accepted by someone in one moment, and then rejected by them and told that you are no one to them! You don't understand that pain. But I do".
Shahruk's character was adopted, and his adoptive Father rejected him and broke all ties with him, when he married against his wish. He told him that he had proven he was "Not his son" by going against him. Rahul hearing this, felt that his Father no longer accepted him as a son, and left his home and family for good. He never looked back. Anjali might not have understood, but SHE, Sunehari understood.
She never had anyone, and Rehan was the first person who accepted her as his own? Wanted to have a relationship with her. He had proposed to her? Wanted to marry her. "Rishta jodna chatha tha who mere saath!" Finally, SHE was going to have a "Rishta" in her life. But in a moment, all that had turned to dust? Acceptance turned to rejection. It seems he was never going to look past her past? She was nothing to him now. She wiped her tears. This place was not for her. The sooner she left here the better.
She entered her room and Razia was there, waiting for her. She asked her what her decision was? Suneheri was quiet. She didn't know exactly what to say to this women? She didn't want to marry Aahil? But what if that was the only way she could get her money? This money would make her life? She wont ever have to steal again, and she can live a normal life? A peaceful life? Not always running? It's not like she was going to have a family ever? At least if she had some money, then she wont have to worry about THAT in her life? Maybe she can go overseas for awhile even? Forget all this?
Razia was going on and on. She was saying that Billo Rani was after Sanam? She will NEVER let Sanam and Aahil be, and she will never let their relationship succeed? So WHY is SHE worrying so much about it?
"Don't be under any illusions that YOU can save their relationship? Billo Rani will ruin it. Their relationship is doomed? Why don't you get that? Weather you marry Aahil or not, it will make NO difference? So why not do it? Why not do the job, and get the money?"
Suneheri was quiet. She wished this Paan Ki Dukaan would stop talking?
"If you marry Aahil, you will have even MORE influence over him. He will listen to you and even sign his death warrant. This is your best chance to get the documents signed. Yeh Kaam karo, aur Humari life bhi banjayegi, aur thumhari bhi". Said Razia, smiling sarcastically.
"DOH CRORE".
"Kya?" said Razia, the smile wiped off her face.
"Doh Crore. Cash. I want it in advance. Before the job is done. I will wait till the Nikah, and after the Nikah I will get Aahil to sign the documents, and I will leave on the SAME night! Job done! End of story!"
"But all that money in advance...?" Said Razia.
"Those are my terms? Do you want your money or not? After all... Tum toh Caroro main kelegi na? Toh mere payse muje abhi chaiyye. Warna...deal is off!"
"Fine. You will get your money".
"Good. Now leave me alone" said Suneheri, looking squarely at Razia. Razia shook her head, and left.
"I am a bad girl Rehan. A liar. A con. A theif. I am not worthy of you! THAT is what you think right? Well guess what? Your right!" said Suneheri bitterly. What was the point of being good? Nothing came out of it? No one appreciated the good sentiments of a Con Women? They only expected the worst from people like her? Well she was going to do the job and take the money and run.
"Then you will never have to see me ever again Rehan. I will be out of your sight forever!"
