Chapter #Three

Baldev's fingers hover in the air as a lone drop of tear falls on his palm. Veera wipes off her tears and approaching nearer, she places a gentle, soft kiss on his forehead. A sense of overwhelming emotion engulfs her. Unable to hold back any longer, she stands up and turns around. Covering her mouth with her palm, she cries her heart out.

"Veera!" Baldev whispers. She faces him quickly and smiles to hear her name in his voice. She starts loving her name when he says it. It just makes her feel so special. She is lost in trance of thoughts until he holds her shoulder and shakes her. "Oye Veera! Tu theek hai na? Itthe ki kar rahi hai? Kisi ko pata chal gaya toh bawaal mach jaayega. Jaa yaha se aur aainda khud ko khat---"

Veera placed her palm on his lips, shushing him off. Baldev is dumbfounded. Somewhere he understands what Veera is going through but he holds back always, fearing if he loses his happiness again. After all things in his life always go haywire and he is always left alone.

Baldev looks in her eyes that are red, quite swollen and full of guilt, desperation, restlessness, helplessness and loads of depression. She isn't the same bubbly Veera who used to be the lioness of their village. As he realizes that, his heart sinks.

"Kinni buri haalat ho gai uski!"
