So how could Gautam and Upen have picked 2 supporters each from 3 people, since Sushant is not a legit option in this task?

Only option was Puneet had to play and if he had to then why can't Gautam pick him if he thinks that will help him win the task? One of them had to pick Puneet, so Gautam did.. Puneet didnt have a choice in the matter as per instructions unless he was sick or critically injured..not like Praneet with lame foot injury

Ok. Thanks. Idealistically, in my scenario, the person would have gone with option 1. But if the person had no allies, a forfeit should have been called before the duel rather than even going through it.
