Though I cant justify his act, I do see what he is going through and this was one of his desperate attempts to tag her as his own. His disturbed mind state, the alcohol, his bitter past, his insecurity, her conversation and closeness to Mani...everything just added up and made him act in such a manner.
Even a normal husband would start doubting his trustworthy wife if ever he comes across such closeness of her with another guy...and here Raman already has such experiences. So its quite natural for him to doubt Ishita.
I only wished that he directly spoke to her about Mani rather than pointing fingers on her character and vaguely accusing her. She is been shown ignorant and dumb to all his accusing hints.
And as u said, he could have easily forced himself on her if he really wanted to but then he didnt. I felt it was more of a spur of the moment, an angry out pour of his unrequited emotions but in such a bizarre manner!
