The Seasons of Jodha Akbar

Jodha Akbar (and most serials) are like seasons ... first there is:

- a spring of novelty, where we were intrigued by Jodha and Jalal and who they were as individuals

- the summer of heightened drama and passion, as Jodha and Jalal were embroiled between love and hate (this happens to be the longest season in most serials as it was with Jodha Akbar that I got sick of the heat for a while 😆)

- The beautiful autumn air, as the color of leaves brightened with their love

- but then winter is inevitable, where the CVs run out of ideas and leaves that were once fresh, dry out and fall off the trees

I have no clue what turn this show will take ... but there is always a hope that once all the leaves wither off ... the CVs will have to think of something new. After all, umeed par duniya kayaam hai.😆

But till then, we can try to learn to enjoy winter sports ... or in other words the upcoming Salim-Anarkali track. That would be like skiing in the snow ... but me and skiing 😲, no that is not going to work 😆 ... I can't even walk on land.

... So, I am going to remember the fond memories from spring ... and continue my first anniversary posts. I hope people do not view this as salt on wounds ... but just remember the happy times of this show and this forum. Also, I had told Anjali (Harrybird) that I would do it for the October 24^th, 2013 episode as I never had the chance to write a Take 5 for that episode. But, don't worry, I was secretly following the forums back in the day.

Back then folks were worried how Jodha could tell Jalal to die elsewhere and then Jalal casually watching her dance ... look how our worries have multiplied now? 😆

So, let's jump in to the world of "Oohs and Aahs":

1. One thing is very sure, Jalal is very lucky when he comes to Saalis (except for Shivani) ... they always tip him off with the important stuff ... that there might be some interesting things to watch at Sukanya's Mehndi ... and so he proceeds to watch Jodha dance with his signature smirk ... now this is where I was in a dilemma, should I admire the smirk or the Jodha ...😉

... what was that exactly on Jalal's face, I will never really know. And when Jodha notices him, he just smirks and sneaks out like a cool cat 😎 ... making Jodha look a bit silly for stopping dancing.

Now, back in the room, our cool cat is obviously thinking something ... as he takes hold of her green duppatta ... notice his quick expressions as he puts the dupatta back when Jodha enters right into his trap ⭐️

2. Oh Jodha , oh Jodha, why are you so innocently cute? She thought she came to taunt him but fell right into his trap. She said she will not punish him as he had forgiven Maan Singh for breaking the rules and visiting the harem. Point.

Counterpoint from our Jalal. Maan Singh made a mistake unknowingly but I did it knowingly.

Checkmate.

3. And just how beautifully did Jalal corner Jodha ... he stood up and took her hands (oh his hand-holding fetish 😳) ... and said with a smirk ... that if Jodha did not punish him, he will assume it is because she has feelings for him. 😉 Yeh huyi na baat!

(And notice the extra second he holds that one finger of hers ...)

4. By now, completely Jodha is fallen into Jalal's trap ... she has to punish him as she vehemently denies any feelings for him ... and she thinks of push-ups ... Till date, I will not get how she thought of that ... but I will thank her for it.😆

Jalal now completely has Jodha in his trap ... first move, starting to remove his jamaa ... Jodha looks shocked that she might be witnessing a strip tease ... but no, our Jalal is just getting ready to do push ups.

Oh and then it gets better with the "Oohs and Aahs" ... with Jodha absolutely scandalized at what others will think. Not only does she rescind the punishment, but also ends up getting punishment!

He gets a head massage for a headache that mysteriously appears ... or rather conveniently. And then the next round of "Aahs" began ... and Jodha leaves in a huff. And the final touch ... a "Shabha Kher Jodha Begum." 😳

5. And the nok-jhok continues in the morning ... with some beautiful sentimental moments as Jalal recalls his wedding moments watching Sukanya's dulha welcomed by an Aarti. Jodha, remembers too. In the tilak, Jalal gets kum kum on his nose ... Jodha tries to signal with her eyes, but Jalal does not get the point. Saali #1 comes to the rescue to advise the "buddhu" to clean his nose. (I love the way Jalal tells the Saali Sukriya).

Now, how could Jalal let Jodha have the last word? He starts signaling that there is something on her nose ... with a completely serious face. Jodha is very worried what happened to her nose and starts scratching it... while the Saali #1 is visibly amused. Jodha finally realizes she is being tricked ... and Jalal gives a smug victory look.

And do I love the Saali, who states how Jodha-Jalal are always in the same boat whether they like it or not - both red in the nose albeit for different reasons

And Jodha cannot help but break out into a smile... and that is when we though Hasee toh Pasee though it took a good 8 months later.😆

Now, what really surprised me was I was able to write this take even before I watched the episode again ... it was etched in my memory so much. That is how priceless the memories of Jodha Akbar are.

Leaps are always painful in every serial ... but they sometimes stabilize into a new story after a period of tumult. What we have with Jodha-Jalal will never disappear ... and I am glad Ekta Kapoor spared us the plastic surgeries, extramarital affairs, memory losses, comas ... consider ourselves lucky compared to her other serials 😆

Now, I want to see how this Akbar will react to Pyaar Kiya to Darna Kya ... and who knows we might even see a childhood love story between Salim-Anarkali sponsored by Ruquaiyya .

And then by the time we get used to that, we can get ready to see a new history of how the Taj Mahal was built ... now that I want to see! Maybe actually Ruquaiyya gave Khurram / Shah Jahan the idea as Jalal never built her a monument 😆
