Having watched 4lions Geet, IPKKND, Arjun & qubool hai & enjoying them & hating them all at some point I feel something isn't quite right with Hamsafars.
I must add that I am still enjoying the show & Harshad, Sebhan & Shivya are doing wonderfully & I'm enjoying watching them. Shivya has come a long way & I'm really loving her Allah Knows!!
Casting as usual of the main characters is great - Harshad, Aarzoo, Zaki are excellent; others I won't comment on too much apart from Kurti Appa, she is a problem; she needs to go. Simple. Also, Aarzoo's family needs to move back!!!
We all know Gul's Maneet, Arshi, AsYa(original) & Saahil are amongst people's best ever loved Jodi's but GUL was mainly at the helm of these shows? The love stories were the heart & soul of the shows. She understands romance better than most producers & executes amazingly onscreen.
On the other hand, Gorky's main project was Arjun. I realise that it was of a different genre but one thing Arjun couldn't quite do was replace Riya as Arjun's love interest - more focus was given to his dead wife etc etc. The track was stagnant & became yawn boring, Also, a story in Arjun didn't span longer than a couple or so episodes due to its nature of being a crime/detective show.
My understanding is that Gorky is behind the cameras (I could be wrong!) in Hamsafar whilst Gul is working on QH or schmoozing with KSG 😆
Is this the problem and the reason there is no real flow in Hamsafars???? GUL needs to move to Hamsafars for a while at least and explain to hubby dear you are great at cinematography but editing & the flowing of the love story is lacking.
I understand the reason for the building of a relationship with Zaki & Aarzoo be it for one sided love, friendship etc. Unfortunately, this has become the selling point of the show right now & another thing to note, there is chemistry & if it were to be explored I think would work brilliantly - Zaki is extremely charismatic with a grin/smile to make any woman melt!! However, Harshad is the focus; that one smile in the pool made me change my Twitter name to Sahir ki Hamsafar. So please work on showing more of this awesome actor?
I would like to know why we are not seeing more interaction of the leads? Looks, presence or reference fair enough but we need more dialogue. For me this is were Gul's other shows piqued huge interest - look @ Arshi, Maneet & AsYa?? Crazy dialogues, meetings, frustrations - In Hamsafars, the pool, the fashion show & the jail scenes helped but not enough. I'm not sure if that's down to the editing team? they are awful - too much jumping around leaving viewers on a roller coaster ride of confusion? Also the promo of Sahir reflecting on Aarzoo caused too much confusion as people rushed onto jealousy whilst I personally felt it was awareness - this needs to be portrayed better.
A word of advice: your negative characters can be normal looking people - they don't need to look like hocus Pocus characters or other freaks of nature - Latif may have worked in Qh a but the husband & wife duo are just awful as are your negatives in Hamsafaars.
Whatever may be the reason the show is lacking, Gorky, you must bring GUL into Hamsafars & tidy it up, focus on the actors you have and smoothly let the characters evolve and the story unfold. Fluidity is very much needed!
