"Damn" Dhruv cursed the moment he took a secret look to find Arnav holding Khushi now. He groaned and quickly buttoned up the buttons of his shirt and straightened himself, tidying his hair.

Now how did Arnav jump in the picture all of the sudden? He shook his head and closed his eyes inhaling a deep breath in fury.

Arnav's narrowed gaze dropped down onto Khushi who was clutching his shoulders as if her life depended on him now. He looked up straight to find the corridor empty and then back to Khushi.

"Bhabhi?" he whispered now holding her by her shoulders gently.

And then it hit her that she was almost hugging him, she snapped open her eyes and slowly moved back with Arnav's arms wrapped around her shoulders.

She was too weak to even handle her own self and save herself from the fall and the moment she had collided with him, no doubt she instantly felt safe and protected. She just wanted to hide herself somewhere away from Dhruv so she made Arnav's arms, her hideout.

Khushi didn't care to look up, her long brown hair kept her face covered and hidden from him.

"Bhabhi? Are you alright?" Arnav asked, absolutely concerned and worried for her, seeing her in a slightly disheveled state.

"She is alright" Arnav looked up and found Dhruv walking towards them.

Khushi wiped her tears slowly and touched her cheek and winced at the burning sensation. Arnav glanced at Dhruv and then turned back his attention to Khushi moving closer to her.

"You don't look fine?" Arnav spoke placing his hand on her shoulders.

"She is just feeling ill and nothing else Arnav" Dhruv raised an eyebrow at him, patting on his shoulders.

But Arnav wasn't satisfied with Dhruv's answer. Her state was narrating another story not matching with Dhruv's answer.

Dhruv suppressed a smile at Arnav and moved towards Khushi.

"Why don't you go to the poolside sweetheart? Get some fresh air. I'll join you" he said in a husky low tone but enough loud for Arnav to hear.

Khushi clenched her fist and jaw. He was disgusting! But now speaking up wasn't a wise decision and especially not in his presence.

Khushi nodded slowly and left from there, descending the stairs hurriedly.

"But she doesn't look fine Bhai. Let me check on her if she needs any..."

"Chote i'm here for her" Dhruv tilted his head now folding his arms.

Arnav sighed and looked away.

"I know you are getting a little concerned but don't worry Chote she is totally fine. She is kind of feeling nausea" he said and Arnav nodded glancing back at Khushi.

"You go and get some sleep. You have a big day tomorrow" he said and Arnav nodded again.

Dhruv smiled at him and patting his back again, he followed Khushi to the poolside.

Arnav turned around and watched through the glass doors of the poolside far away from him, as Dhruv went and stood beside Khushi.

Something was weird about them - he thought and kept staring at their back for some time.

And just as he was about to make his way towards his room, the sight of Khushi shoving Dhruv's hands away stopped him.

And something struck him as he went down the stairs with light steps and quietly sliding the glass doors to a side, he stood in a corner watching them curiously as well as suspiciously.

Something was making him curious.

Dhruv flared his nose and was about to manhandle Khushi again when his eagle eyes caught the sight of Arnav's black color slipper behind the bottle green color curtain.

He clenched his jaw and his hand remained hanging in the air. He tilted his head and then placed his hand on her shoulders, slowly turning her around, making her face him.

Khushi wiped her fresh tears and glared at Dhruv, she was going to shove away his hand again when Dhruv quickly pulled her towards him and patted her head lovingly while Arnav watched them.

Khushi writhed and tried to get out of his arms but he tightened his hold on her more.

"Stop moving and keep your mouth shut. Arnav is watching us" he gritted angrily and Khushi stopped, a lone tear escaping from her eyes now.

She sniffed and Dhruv caressed her hair, with a smile.

"Everything will be fine. I'll take you to the Doctor morning...huhn?" he muttered.

Khushi kept quiet. She was feeling dirty in his arms.

"Are you feeling good now?" he asked and Khushi nodded slowly wiping her tears.

She wanted to scream a big NO'

Arnav stood there for some time, watching them and then shaking his head he went away from there. The moment, he left Dhruv pushed her away.

"You are saved" he stared at her.

"Thank Chote for that" he gritted and left, stomping his feet leaving Khushi all alone.

*

Khushi looked at her reflection in the mirror. She looked so lost. The last night was horrible and terrific. It had affected her to a great extent. A night she would never and ever forget. The night had spread darkness in her life, she didn't have those twinkling stars and not even the guiding and glowing moon.

Khushi caressed her bruised lips gently and a sarcastic smile broke out on her lips. The strawberry gloss was successful in hiding that bruise. It was in the morning, she realized his finger marks on her cheeks which were hidden too because of the concealer she was wearing on her face.

Everything seemed fake. The make-up, Dhruv and even her. She was fake too.

Hearing the shower tap turn off, she adjusted her hair on her shoulders and left from their quickly. She didn't want to ruin her morning so soon seeing Dhruv's face.

*

Arnav stared at Khushi, his gaze fixed upon her as she came to the dining hall, smiling at everyone and having her seat near Deviyani.

She seemed well but a little weak and dull. The glow was hidden somewhere.

"Good Morning Bhabhi" Arnav greeted flashing a smile.

Khushi who was spreading the butter on her bread stopped and looked at Arnav, the last night incident flashing in her mind. What could have happened if Arnav hadn't appeared there at the moment? She would have lost her dignity and sanity.

Thinking about Dhruv's mere touch on her body filled her with disgust.

He had unknowingly saved her last night, well just like every time.

And ultimately, a very faint smile crept on Khushi's lips exclusively for Arnav.

"Good Morning" she replied back.

"How are you feeling now? Better?" he asked and her smile dimmed.

The clatter of plates and spoons faded as now everyone turned attentive and looked at Khushi and Arnav.

"What happened to Khushi Ji?" asked Anjali immediately.

As Arnav was about to answer, Khushi butted in.

"Nothing. I was just not well last night. I think it's because of those frozen mangoes i ate " Khushi spoke.

"Exactly. That's why i am taking her to the Hospital today" Dhruv sat beside Khushi and smiled at everyone before leaning over Khushi and whispering "Are you better now?" in her ear.

Shyam's gaze wiggled between him and Khushi as he tried to capture every emotion on Khushi's face. Something didn't make him feel right, well if it's about Dhruv, there is nothing always right.

This is what, Shyam thinks.

"No..." Khushi replied immediately.

"I am not going with you. I am perfectly fine now" Khushi smiled and glared at him secretly.

"Why not Khushi Ji? I think you should go" said Anjali.

"No Di, i'll be better here around you people. I think, visiting the Doctor will make me more sick" Khushi faked a light chuckle.

"As you wish" Dhruv smiled at her and sat straight.

"I'll ask Hari Prakash to make a Kadha for you" said Deviyani with a smile and Khushi nodded.

"Umm...I am going to the Kitchen. I'll tell him" Aakash got up and left hurriedly whipping out his Mobile phone from his jeans pockets while Manorma's curious gaze followed him.

Dhruv cocked an eyebrow at Shyam when he found her observing Khushi ever so carefully. Shyam rolled his eyes and looked away shaking his head.

"Okay then. I'll leave and take care of yourself Bhabhi" Arnav got up hurriedly sipping the last sip of his fresh orange juice.

Khushi smiled and nodded at him.

"Best of Luck" Khushi wished him and he smiled mouthing a Thank You" to her.

"Bye Chote and Best of Luck" Anjali wished and smiled.

"Best of Luck Arnav"

"Hamri Shubh Kamnaayien aap ke saath hain Chote"

And Arnav thanked everyone orderly.

"Aakash. I'll drive today. Come out soon" Arnav shouted and left from there.

"I'll leave too" Dhruv muttered after a minute passed and got up, staring at Khushi lingeringly while Khushi totally ignored him.

"Baaaye Dhruv" Dhruv nodded at Anjali, averting his eyes away from Khushi.

He didn't miss her teasing tone.

*

Shyam looked at Khushi as she continued shifting in her place and fiddling with her fingers. She seemed quite uncomfortable at the place. Everyone was so busy in their chit chat to even notice.

And she was quiet too..

Not that he knows her well, but the way she mingled with everyone at the party had undoubtedly amazed him and made him believe that she wasn't really a quiet person and so seeing her restless confused him.

Khushi looked at everyone and sighed. She badly wanted to go back to her Bua Ji; Madhumati, hug her, and sleep for hours.

She was missing her so much.

And after the last night, she had gotten more restless than she was already.

Finding everyone engaged with each other, she decided of escaping from there and get some time alone and think deeply into this complicated matter.

Dhruv didn't seem a mentally stable man to her anymore.

As she fled away from the Lounge, Shyam stood up too and followed her. He really wanted to have a nice talk with her.

*

Khushi badly wished to have life full of calmness and peace just like the water in the pool, with no disturbance at all.

Her life was so good before but after Dhruv's entry everything messed up and went upside down. Was he going to revenge her so cruelly? For that smack on his cheek which he actually deserved that day?

It did surpri-

"Hi" Khushi turned sideways, slightly taken aback to find Shyam there and smiling at her.

"Can i join you?" he asked a mug of coffee in his hands.

"Yep. Sure" Khushi smiled back and moved aside to give him space to stand.

"Thanks" muttered Shyam.

"Well, Khushi i heard from Anjali that you belong from Lucknow too; LDA Colony" he asked and Khushi nodded, smiling again.

"So..."

"...how's everything going?" he asked and Khushi stopped for a moment before nodding again.

"Good" a monosyllable.

"Really?" he asked and Khushi shot him a look.

"What's you actual story Jeeja Ji?" Khushi asked.

Shyam closed his eye for a brief moment, inhaled a deep breath and then spoke.

"What's the story behind this cut on your wrist?" he asked, his gaze focused on her.

Khushi looked at her bruised wrist and then at him, giving a calculative look to him.

"You know something. Don't you?" she tilted her head and asked.

Shyam gave a nod and placed his Coffee mug on the small table behind him and looked at her, folding his arms.

"So there is something?"

"Something what?" Khushi replied very quickly.

"Actually i have been noticing you since the day one...i find you strange" he whispered.

"Well...i find you strange too" Khushi replied and Shyam smiled.

"Can we have some clarity in our conversation?"

"Um..yeah"

"Are you happy with your marriage with Dhruv?" he asked and Khushi went quiet.

How can she just say him the truth without even trusting him?

"You can trust me" he spoke after a minute of silence.

And it seemed as if heard her.

"You know something" Khushi was curious and her tone raised as she took a step towards him.

"Well i know.."

"Tell me"

"Answer my question first?"

"You know it"

"Did he force you?" Shyam asked, his gaze softening.

Khushi sighed and looked away shaking her head lightly.

"I..i knew it. Because Marriage and Dhruv? They totally contrast each other. Dhruv doesn't believe in marriage" he said and Khushi stared him.

"Then how i am supposed to believe that Dhruv was desperate to marry a girl named Khushi. And they got married within two weeks. This is totally out of my wits Khushi and seeing you restless daily is proving me correct" he added.

"How can you say so much about him?" she asked cocking any eyebrow.

"Because no one knows Dhruv better than me. I know he is not a marriage item" he replied.

"What do you know about him?" Khushi asked.

"I know a lot but first tell me your side of story. I am sure he has forced you but the question is why?" Khushi stared at him.

"Look Khushi. Take me as your brother for some time. Trust me" he said and Khushi was a little touched.

She looked down missing Rohan and Chutki. Her Bada Dhamaka. He always used to protect her just a like a brother does. She missed them.

She looked up at him and spoke.

"We had met in Lucknow; LDA Colony. It wasn't a good meeting. He wanted us, the colonials to vacant that place but i was an obstacle in his way. He ended up misbehaving with me and i ended up slapping him" she muttered and Shyam gave a sarcastic smile.

"And..."

"And for him, it's a disgrace to his self-esteem to get insulted publicly, so to play a revenge game he married you" he said and Khushi nodded slowly. Her face expressionless.

"And you so easily got married to him..." he tilted his head questioningly.

"There is only my Bua Ji in my family and i love her endlessly. I can bear any pain for her. She is a mother figure for me.

Dhruv had started coming to our house regularly, and giving a golden chance to the colonials to open their big...mouth. My Bua Ji is a Heart Patient and Dhruv's threats to ruin my life and bring disgrace to our small family had affected her badly.

She was even hospitalized for some days. It's painful to see her like that on the bed, so weak, frail and helpless. It was only those days when i got married to Dhruv though Bua Ji was reluctant...

I was helpless too, i couldn't watch my Bua Ji like that and It was difficult for Bua Ji to bear Colonial's baseless accusations.

I just...gave up" Khushi whispered, her eyes misty while Shyam kept staring at her.

"And now what?" he asked after a long pause.

"Is your Bua Ji happy now?" he asked.

"At least she doesn't need to bear all those accusations" Khushi replied swiping a finger near her both eyes.

This is the most important chapter till date for the story I guess.
Awesomely written Vaanu!👏

Why did Dhruv come up? 😡
I wanted Khushi to be with Arnav for little more... As she herself said, she feels comfy with him.😳
This story is getting intense!
I loved Shyam's part. At least he's not a snakewa in this story! 😆
Khushi married Dhruv while her bua ji was reluctant?😲 That has just increased her bua ji's gloom I think. And of course, Khushi ki khud ki life has turned disastrous

I feel bad for Khushi.. Why doesn't Arnav do something?
I hope Shyam turns a savior for her now...😃

PS Tune foul mood mein bhi itna accha likh dia aur main acche mood mein bhi bura hi likhti hu 😭

PPS Tune abhi tak mujhe tere foul mood ki vajah nahi batayi...

Love you 🤗

At last a friend for Khushi with whom she cn share her pain, I really hope Shyam helps uncover Dhruv misdeeds .

Now we know he is not marriage material it may not be long before he seeks solace and pleasure away from home..
Arnav too has an inkling something is amiss, but they are brothers and I am not sure where Arnav's loyalty may lie for now..
