My dear Kunchu,

Here I am at long last, and I think it is perfect to take chapters 55A and 55B together, adding the epilogue, for in a way they form a composite whole, and wind up the story very neatly. But then excellent endings have always been your specialty!

More important, these 3 chapters demonstrate, perhaps more than anything else in this charming little tale that has always been one of my favourites, your mastery over emotions - big, small, gentle, loving, romantic nostalgic, the works. That is your forte, my dear girl and this low key saga of the many shades of love has let you showcase this talent of yours far more than the exotic, tense Adhuri Kahani or the dark thriller Farishtey.

The scene between a drenched Arjun and Jhanvi in their bedroom is pitch perfect in its unaffected sensuality, but what touched me the most, and said the most to me about their relationship, is the part when Jhanvi comes into his office to comfort Arjun after his gruelling, violent interrogation of that ugly pervert. I wonder if he was just slapping the creep as you say, or you have toned it down for us, for slapping is far too mild for such a vile wretch.

Anyhow, I loved it that after the initial shock of seeing Arjun's violent avatar, Jhanvi picks herself up and is able to reach out to him, comfort him and leach away at least some of the helpless rage that consumes him when he thinks of that poor violated, murdered child. The scene at the beach that follows is the perfect finale for that segment, and the perfect demonstration of the almost symbiotic bond between the two of them.

Pari's gift is not just absolutely beautiful, it is also surprisingly thoughtful for such a lively young girl. I was also impressed and pleased that Adi is mature enough to value it at its true worth, and to cherish it as it should be cherished.

So here we are, my dear Kunchu, at the end of what has been one of your best efforts. It is like a pointillist painting by Cezanne, who was one of the Impressionist school of French painting in the 19th century, along with Van Gogh, Manet, Monet and many others. In the pointillist school, the painting is composed entirely of coloured dots, and the actual picture can be made out only from a distance, for up close one can see only the dots, not what they convey.

Similarly, as one traverses this tale of yours, there are so many vignettes - colourful, charming, moving, distressing - but it is only at the very end, seeing your whole landscape from the end, that one can make out the real theme, the thread on which all your pearls are strung. It is the love that gives and gives, and asks for nothing in return, and for that very reason, gets love back in abundance.

Brava! That is not a misspelling, it is the feminine of Bravo.

PS: I was amused, and charmed, by the gremlin in your machine that has Adi talk all the time of, and to his "dairy", but perhaps it was no bad thing after all. For a dairy is full of milk and butter and cream and a whole lot of good things, just as your tale is full of the milk of human kindness and warmth and unconditional affection!
