Just as the lyrics of this beautiful OST,I feel HS has its own share of dhoop and chaun.
First off,I haven't watched the show completely, since you know Anne literally threatened me to wait until it actually airs. ( Where are you woman?) Ive seen 6 episodes s far and here is what I think of it.

What didnt work:

Let me be honest,Humsafar's story is nothing new. its pretty much average and it didn't impress me. Arranged marriage. Two perfect strangers are (forcefully,if I may say so) married and how love blossoms is the focus as of now.

Also,I cannot help but be annoyed with the way the wedding was managed. How is right to get ur daughter married just bcoz she would no longer have any immediate dependent left? There were several other ways one can be taught to move on in life without being stuck in the past due to someone's death. Khirad could have been encouraged to study further, make a name for herself you know? I cant help but think about ZGH here. This is why ZGH will always be the most powerful story I have ever come across.

What worked :

That being said,Humsafar has something very new to offer. There is this certain charm in the way Asher-khirad scenes are handled. Kudos to FK-MK and the director. A very very fresh perspective on two perfect strangers working towards making their marriage work and developing feelings towards each other.

Very raw. Very subtle emotions, but the way its been executed,it gives you the *feels*. I get it now, what everyone kept telling me about. Khisher scenes are extremely gripping. 👏

I've heard the second half would involve some tragedy. And something tells me I would be much more impressed by that in comparison to the first half I have already watched.

That being said, another negative comes up. AK scenes are the only ones which interest me. Why so? No,I say this not just bcoz there is no Fawad in other scenes, but quite honestly. Hmm. Interesting.

Predictions :
Since Ive been told that the second half involves tragedy,I believe its got to be involved with Asher-kHirad's love story going horribly wrong? Hmm,the worst case scenario for any love story.

ZGH for me was more or less about why it is necessary to let go of one's guards at a certain point in life, why it is necessary to give ur chance to fall in love, not always do bad things happen to you,u know? So ZGH explored the positive aspect of love. Also,ZGH was more about loving yourself and your life, and loving ur partner was because of that. and not vice versa.

Humsafar I believe would explore the opposite. It would describe , why afterall it is necessary to guard urself, why is it necessary to not be completely dependent on someone else?

Handling both perspectives isnt easy. The tragedy aspect has a an even tougher job bcoz its been tried and tested way to many times,so how would it stand out?But with the way its going so far,I have a feeling tragedy too will have a new face with HS? Eagerly awaiting to know what happens in the latter half!

My box of tissues are ready, lets see if HS makes me use them or not. 😉

Lastly,my teenie weenie thoughts about Fawad :

Needless to say,this guy just...I cant even...Sigh. ❤️

His body language changes in every show of his, doesnt it? His eye contact, his stance...just,kill me now 😳

Oh god,why are all the good guys taken? 😡

The way he is around Khirad in the last two episode sis just out of the world. His rather purposeful sitting, right beside of her. and that 60 degree bend of his shoulder towards her. Would make any girl nervous 😆

I really really am keen to see the second half. Gussewaala FK would be just Yes,romance is good, but the gusse mein passion increases, trust me 😆

Man! Good to find SOMEONE here who hasnt already seen HS a million times already. I feel so out of place. 🤔
Anyways here is my brief take from another thread:
The first episode Fawad seemed more like a side character. But after that its been only been a Fawad show. He dominates even if he isnt in the scene...the show revolves so much around him. I found the first 4 episodes gripping with good direction. The romance part has been a bit boring for me. I personally prefer more conversational chemistry rather than eyelocks variety. Mahira was fine as an actress in episode one. After that she hasnt done much. I see only effort from Fawad's side. Fawad I feel is good...but I am kinda spoiled by his performance in ZGH and even Khoobsurat which I felt were much more nuanced and polished. So far watching the show strictly as a Fawad fan rather than its merits.

Adding more: Fawad looks yummy as always. But I feel he looked his best in ZGH. Here the styling is a bit amateurish. Fawad looks really thin and most of the time his clothes look 2 sizes bigger. ZGH his styling was perfect and ofcourse Khoobsurat.

Even I wrote a similar thing in what didn't work for me.😆
But yes the romantic scenes have some kind of charm in them. They are very subtle and different from what we have seen till now.In the pre-leap phase only this was what could hold me on because Sara's scenes had become a bit monotonous and boring for me by then.
But it was able to grip me only after post leap and u'll know why after watching it.

I found Mahira good in the first episode too. And initially the "khudaari" in her reminded me of Kashaf. But the way things were handled later on,khuaari gayi bhaad mein, abla naari zindabad But im glad Khirad finally voiced her opinion and spoke about it with Baseerat, which Asher over-heard.

Which brings a questionif Asher had not heard this conversation,do u think he would have as much tried to understand Khirad and work on his marriage?

P.s : I forgot to mention about the styling 😆 I agree. Especially with the suits,I just go err...Looks way better while at home though in t-shirts. Also I think its bcoz HS aired in 2010 ish,a bit old in comparison to ZGH

Mahira was way better in the post separation phase.
And same here, the 'khuddari' thing reminded me of Kashaf-ZGH's hangover.😆

Asher is really a sweetheart. Even before he overhears that conversation he tells Sara that just like him even Khirad has been pushed into the marriage. His irritation is less with Khirad's background or circumstances of their marriage and more to do with Khirad's lack of response to his efforts. Any person would get annoyed in his place. To make a marriage work effort has to be from both sides. But Khirad is like 'Oh he thinks I am not good enough for him and has been forced to marry me so let me be a statue around him'. As if that will improve the situation.
If Asher wouldnt have overheard I think the situation wouldnt have improved. Atleast when he heard her views some of his misconceptions about Khirad(which she herself created btw) would have remained till she voiced her opinions.

PS: Fawad trousers are very loose. Its as if he is wearing someone else's clothes. 😆

I think instead of a forced marriage I would have preferred if Khirad stayed with Basheerat's family as his niece and then Asher and she fell in love and got married. They could have had a story very similar to the current one without the forced marriage bit.

@bold : Let me just laugh on this first 🤣 In that swimming pool scene at night when he finds Khirad crying, those grey tracks he wore would have fit Khali 😆

Hmm,I see your point there about Khirad's lack of response. Which btw,was a result of herself over-hearing asher's conversation with his friend prior to their marriage 😆

I think Asher deserves credit for taking the first step towards working on the marriage, but I absolutely did not like him discussing his marital problems with Sarah. Best friend or whatever, the girl attempted suicide because she couldnt have you, common sense, man. That being said,if it was purely on a platonic friendship kind of a way,it was okay I guess.

Whenever they show his backside its very distracting...and its not the gande khyal wale distracting. 😆But I have to say he looked so delicious in the second episode when he goes to Sara's house. I wanted to eat him there. And that white pathani. Hai! Hai!
Ok coming back...yes that was a result of she overhearing Asher. Though I wish she would have still gone in there and spoken to him esp when she knew that even he didnt want it. If both would have objected it would have added weight.
Asher is too much of a golden hearted guy I guess. He takes Sara at face value which he obviously shouldnt. He had to say it to someone I suppose and he was telling his best friend.
