I have started to work on the next update so hopefully I will post it later today or by tomorrow. Thanks for being so patient with me! Sorry again to keep you waiting for so long!

I gave you two updates together to make up for the long time that I made you wait. Hope you enjoy them! 😃

Chapter 15:

The soft rays of the early morning sunlight hit Rachna's face, awakening her from her slumber. She sat up in bed and smiled shyly as she thought about the previous evening that she had spent with Kabir. It had been the perfect way to close the chapter of separation in the lives and begin anew. Thinking about the way that Kabir had danced with her gave her goosebumps. It had been a magical moment for her. His eyes had reflected back the immense love that she felt in her heart. And the moon-lit walk on the beach afterwards had just been what you could call the icing on the cake. For a few hours last night, Rachna had been able to forget all the chaos happening in her life with the accident, divorce papers, and court case. It had been a perfect evening; just what she had needed. They had spent so many months apart from each other and yet, it seemed as though nothing had changed between them.

----------------

Later that evening, Rachna got ready for Chaya's sangeet ceremony. She was wearing a simply elegant white lehenga with silver and navy blue accents and a sleeveless navy blue blouse with a sweetheart neckline. She draped one end of the white and blue net dupatta over her left shoulder and tied a corner of other end to one of the bangles on her right hand. She accessorized her outfit with a few silver bangles on both hands, a diamond pendent, and the matching teardrop-shaped diamond earrings.

Arriving at Chaya's house, she found the atmosphere buzzing with excited energy. Everyone was running around to finish up last minute preparations before the groom's family came. Rachna quietly snuck past everyone and went into Chaya's room, where she found her best friend getting ready. Chaya was wearing a bright, sparkling orange floor-length anarkali to match her vivacious and bubbly personality.

"Rachna! Thank god you're here! Help me!"

Rachna smiled at her friend's overdramatic outburst. "You look gorgeous! Chirag won't be able to keep his eyes off of you tonight! But why are you so stressed?"

Chaya rolled her eyes at Rachna. "Rachna just look at the side of this dress. Rhea came in a few minutes ago with coffee and she accidentally spilled it everywhere."

Looking closely at the dress, Rachna indeed found a dark brown coffee stain. Frowning, she grabbed some tissues and tried to wipe away the stain, but of course it did no good. Putting a reassuring hand on Chaya's shoulders, Rachna calmed her friend down.

"Okay okay, I got this. Don't panic. I'll fix it somehow."

Saying this, Rachna got to work. She tried several different ways of draping Chaya's dupatta to hide the stain, but nothing seemed to work because the dupatta was too sheer to hide the stain. Suddenly Rachna remembered something that Kabir had once done at a fashion show when the model's dress had been ripped at the side. Rachna rummaged in Chaya's closet for a stole that would go well with the orange anarkali. At last she found what she was looking for. She pleated it quickly and draped the gold stole over Chaya's left shoulder. She then twisted the sheer orange dupatta in a braid with the gold stole, pinning it in place to cover the stain. When she finished, she moved out of the way so Chaya could see herself in the mirror.

"Wow Rachna! You are a magician. This dress looks much more beautiful with the touch that you have added. Thank you so much!" Chaya hugged her friend tightly. Rachna merely smiled back at her friend and mentally thanked Kabir for the idea.

----------------

Chaya walked downstairs with Rachna and Rhea by her side. The sangeet festivities began with great fervor as the DJ played some quintessential wedding songs to get people on the dance floor. Someone proposed a friendly dance competition between the bride's and groom's families and everyone became immediately excited. There was a performance by the Chirag's aunt and uncle and then two of Chaya's aunts also performed. Then Chirag's sister did a solo, and Rhea followed it up by doing a duet with Karan. The parents' of both the bride and groom did a small performance, after which it was finally time for the bride and groom to dance. Chaya and Chirag danced to the playful song "Ainvayi Ainvayi" to match their quirky and fun love story. Rachna enjoyed watching the performances and she cheered for Chaya, but at the same time she felt like an outsider in this cheerful environment.

The DJ then began to play a romantic love song and invited all the couples to enjoy a slow dance. Rachna looked on at all the couples on the dance floor, wishing more than ever for her own love to be by her side. Rachna suddenly felt a pair of hands at her waist dragging her onto the dance floor. Looking up to see who had the audacity to behave with her like this, Rachna's anger quickly transformed into shock. Dressed suavely in a white shirt with a blue velvet blazer and black trousers, Kabir teasingly smiled at Rachna as he put his hands on her waist and began dancing with her. Rachna was at a loss for words; she could only stare at him with a look of utter disbelief and confusion.

He smirked and whispered into her ear. "If you keep your mouth open like that, then surely a fly will go in." Rachna closed her mouth, but her eyes were filled with questions.

"Looks like it's a much smaller world than we thought Rachna; your best friend is getting married to one of my close friends."

A wave of understanding passed across Rachna's face. "Chirag? He's a friend of yours? That's why you're in Mumbai?"

He merely nodded at her and stared into her eyes. She smiled and laughed lightly at the coincidence.

"By the way Mrs. Tripathi, you look quite ravishing today. I always told you that white does wonders for you. And it seems that we have unexpectedly managed to coordinate our outfits."

Rachna blushed as she realized that their outfits were indeed color coordinated; they looked like the perfect couple. The song soon came to an end; Kabir and Rachna moved off of the dance floor as the DJ began to play some of the latest hit songs from Bollywood for the younger crowd.

As they were exiting the dance floor, they were spotted by Chirag, who wanted to introduce his soon-to-be-wife to one of his close friends.

"Hey Kabir! Nice to see that you could make it today man! This is Chaya, my fiance. And Chaya, this is Kabir, one of my close friends from college."

Kabir and Chaya greeted each other cordially. "Nice to meet you Chaya. I must say that Chirag is a lucky man. You look beautiful. That's an interesting way that you have draped your dupatta."

"Thanks Kabir, nice to meet you too. And you can thank Rachna for this style. She saved the day today. By the way, do you two already know each other?"

Kabir looked towards Rachna and winked at her, a teasing look in his eyes. "Is that so? Well Rachna, it seems like quite an innovative design. I wonder how you thought of it. And yes Chaya, Rachna and I worked together in Benaras...she was once my...design assistant."

Before anyone else could say anything, they were joined by Karan and Rhea. "Hey bro! Glad to see that you made it here! Such a small world isn't it?"

After a quick round of introductions to acquaint everyone with each other, the six of them moved to a table to chat over a round of appetizers and drinks.

---------------

While the guys went to the bar to get the drinks, the three girls sat at the table.

Rhea began the conversation. "So Rachna, it seems that you already know Kabir hunh? I saw you two dancing together...you two looked so close."

Rachna was at a loss for words; she didn't know how to possibly even begin telling Chaya and Rhea the story about her and Kabir. "Ummm, yeah we've known each other for some time now. I've worked with him in the past."

"So you're just working professionals or friends or...you know...something more than friends? I mean you guys seem to have coordinated your outfits for today which is totally a cute couple thing if you know what I mean." Rhea teased.

"Stop it Rhea...don't tease Rachna like that. Her and Kabir have just worked together for some fashion shows. Besides, if she was involved with a guy then I would totally be the first to know. Right Rachna? After all, we're best friends."

Rachna shifted uncomfortably in her seat. She merely nodded at Chaya. Rhea diverted the conversation to talking about how much her shoes were hurting her feet. She was complaining about her painful heels when the three guys returned with the drinks.

"Thanks baby." Rhea held Karan's hand as she sipped her pina colada. Chirag sat down next to Chaya and gave her the martini that she had asked for. Kabir slipped into the only remaining seat, the one next to Rachna and placed her drink on the table in front of her. "A mimosa with pineapple juice, just the way you like it my dear."

More than a few eye brows were raised at the table seeing the exchange between Rachna and Kabir, but thankfully for Rachna, no one said anything.

After a few rounds of drinks, Rhea decided to go dance with Karan and both Chaya and Chirag went to greet their other guests, leaving Rachna and Kabir to themselves.

"It's quite loud and crowded in here, isn't it Rachna? If you feel up to it, how about we get out of here and go for a drive?"

Rachna intertwined her fingers with Kabir's and gently smiled. "I'd like that."

After giving their wishes to the couple of the night and saying their goodbyes, Rachna and Kabir slipped out of the sangeet unnoticed by everyone else.

Chapter 16:

Kabir rolled down the windows of his car as he sped off on the nearly empty highway. They drove in silence, with Rachna loosely holding Kabir's hand and resting her head on his shoulder. After some time, Kabir rolled up the windows.

"So...why's my wife so quiet today? Something wrong?"

Rachna moved her head off of Kabir's shoulder and sat up while she continued to hold his hand. She shook her head in the negative. "No Kabir. I was just thinking."

"Penny for your thoughts?"

Rachna sighed loudly, "I've messed up so much that I don't even know where to begin to sort everything out..."

Kabir turned into the parking lot of a garden and parked the car. He got out the car and opened the door for Rachna, gesturing her to come out. "Come, let's take a walk."

"In these clothes Kabir? I'm kind of overdressed for a walk in the park don't you think?"

"And I'm not? Come on though...it'll be fun."

---------------------

The park was empty at this late hour in the night. They slowly walked hand in hand, their path illuminated by the harsh street lamps lining the sidewalk. Kabir guided Rachna towards the playground and made her sit on the swing while he stood behind her. He softly pushed the swing for Rachna and looked towards the night sky as he recited a poem for her.

"Aap khud nahi janti, aap kitni pyaari ho...jaan toh humari, par jaan se pyaari ho...duriyon ke hone se koi farak nahi padta...aap kal bhi humari thi, aaj bhi humari ho..." [Translation: You yourself don't know, how lovely you are...this life of mine, you are more precious than it too...distances don't matter...you were mine yesterday, and you are mine even today].

"Rachna, we all make mistakes. You've made some, I've made some. But the more important thing is that we work together to fix these mistakes. And they only way that we will be able to do this is if you stop blaming yourself for all this. I thought we cleared all this up yesterday."

Rachna stopped the swing with the heels of her feet. She got up and stood in front of Kabir. "It's not that easy for me Kabir. I just can't stop feeling guilty. The fact of the matter is that I've hidden the truth about the most important person in my life from everyone around me...I just don't know how to overcome this guilt."

Kabir pushed Rachna's chin up with his hand, causing her to look up at him. "And you think that this is entirely your fault? Have I not played a role in all of this? Rachna, I promised Sneha mausi yesterday that I would get to the bottom of everything. And I have started to piece some things together, which is why I asked you to come on this drive...so we could talk."

He held her hand and led her over to the bench on the side of the playground. Brushing off the dirt with his hand, he laid his handkerchief down on the bench. "So your dress doesn't get dirty."

Rachna smiled at his sweet gesture and sat down on the bench next to him. He turned towards her and began to talk.

"This morning I called my lawyer in Delhi and had him fax over the divorce papers that you and I had supposedly signed. I took them over for verification to another lawyer here in Mumbai and I found out that they are actually fake. In fact, even the court notice that you and I got, which said that our divorce has been finalized, is fake...it was all a fraud pulled off by that woman."

Rachna looked at Kabir, quite confused. "What? But how does that make any sense? I just don't understand what she would get by doing all this."

"Even I don't understand why she would do all this Rachna. But she has to have done this with some motive because I know Gayatri Tripathi really well. And she wouldn't do something this big if she didn't have a plan behind it."

"Well now what Kabir?"

"We have to figure out who is actually responsible for your parents' accident and how that woman is related to the accident."

Rachna looked away, her eyes filled with tears. Kabir held her hand and she immediately turned towards him, burying her face into his shoulder. He let her cry because he knew the pain of losing a parent; he knew that these tears were the only remedy to her heartache. When her tears had dried, he held her hand and they walked back to the car. The drive back to Rachna's house was a silent one, for they were both engrossed in their own thoughts. She was lost remembering her childhood memories with her parents, while he was pondering about the ideal way to reveal his newly discovered knowledge to Rachna's family.

--------------

Rachna and Kabir walked into the living room, where they found Sneha, Akash, Pihu, and Murli deep in discussion. They all stood up as Rachna and Kabir walked in to the room.

"Kabir beta, please come and have a seat. Would you like some coffee or tea?"

"No thank you Sneha mausi. I'm fine. I actually wanted to talk to you all about something."

Everyone took a seat. "I'm assuming that everyone in this room right now knows who I am and also the truth about me and Rachna." Kabir looked up at everyone and tried to decipher their expressions. They all just stared back at him blankly.

"Ummm...I...I uhhh. I found out something this morning, umm...a rather shocking discovery I guess you could call it. I found out that the divorce papers and court notice were all fake. This divorce case was never registered and nor was the divorce ever granted."

This new bit of news stunned everyone. Pihu broke the silence with her cheerful voice.

"So that means that you are actually my jiju? Then, are you not going to check out your aadhi gharwali, your saali (sister-in-law)?"

Kabir looked at Pihu with a surprised expression, while everyone else burst out laughing.

"Kabir, please don't mind my wife. You'll very quickly learn that she's a little bit crazy." Murli apologized.

"Yes Kabir, please don't mind Pihu. Anyways, that's really good news. But I guess my immediate source of confusion is who did all of this fake drama and why?"

"I don't know Sneha mausi. This entire matter is a lot more complicated than I originally thought it would be."

Sneha was about to press the issue further but Akash held her hand and stopped her.

"Sneha. I think that's enough discussion on this topic right now. Come on, get some sweets for everyone. After all, there's going to be a wedding soon."

Rachna and Kabir looked at Akash confused. "Mausa ji, a wedding? Whose?"

Akash smiled at the couple. "Yours Rachna beta. We were all talking about this before you two came in; Sneha told us everything. I am of the opinion that if Kabir and you love each other, then you two should get re-married. Or now that we know that you are still legally wedded to each other, you could renew you vows...with your family's blessings this time."

Rachna's eyes filled with tears. She got up and hugged both Sneha and Akash. A simple thank you was all that she could choke out between her tears. Sneha wiped away the tears from Rachna's face. "A bride needs glowing skin so no more tears."

Kabir also took the blessings of Sneha and Akash. "I really can't thank you enough for accepting me and our relationship."

Sneha lovingly touched Kabir's cheek. "You are perfect for my daughter Kabir. I never thought that anyone else could love Rachna more than me but I think that you may have proven me wrong."

Pihu returned from the kitchen with a plate of laddoos in her hand. She walked towards Rachna and fed her a bite. "One bite for your good news, and now take one more bite for my good news." Pihu stuffed the entire laddoo into Rachna's mouth. Once Rachna had swallowed the huge bite, she asked "Your good news?"

Pihu moved towards Kabir and fed him a bite of the laddoo. "I guess now this baby will have a maasi and mausa ji in its life." She smiled brightly.

"Oh my gosh!!! Are you serious Pihu didi? Congratualtions!!!" Rachna hugged Pihu tightly and fed her some sweets also.

Kabir followed Rachna's example, feeding Pihu another bite and teasing her. "Congrats saali sahiba..."

Pihu blushed and thanked him. Kabir and Rachna congratulated Murli as well. Sneha added to the celebration by bringing in a tray of coffee and cake for everyone. Once he had finished his coffee, Kabir stood up to leave. "Okay, it's getting pretty late. I should get going now. Thank you once again for everything. And congratulations once again Pihu and Murli ji."

-----------------

Once Kabir had left, Rachna went into her room to change and freshen up. When she came out of the wash room, she found Sneha sitting on her bed.

"Mausi ji. You didn't sleep yet?"

Sneha moved over so Rachna could sit next to her. "I wanted to talk to you. I wanted to set the date for your marriage, or rather your vow renewal."

Rachna sat down next to Sneha and smiled. "Oh ok. Well we got married on Christmas so..."

"Christmas? Okay...that's perfect. You can renew your vows on Christmas then. I'll talk to Akash and make all the arrangements."

Rachna nodded and hugged Sneha, thankful that everything in her life was finally settling down again.

Once Sneha had left, Rachna laid in her bed, waiting for sleep to come. Just as she was drifting off to sleep, her phone rang and woke her up. Checking the caller ID, the sleep vanished from Rachna's eyes when she saw that Kabir was calling.

"Hello..."

"Good morning. Were you sleeping?" Rachna checked the clock, surprised to find that it was 1:27 am.

"No...well, I mean I was trying to fall asleep but it doesn't matter now. Tell me, did you get back to the hotel safe?"

"Hmmm. I got back around 40 minutes ago."

"Okay. Ummm, Sneha mausi just asked me for a date for our vow renewals. I told her Christmas. Is that okay with you?"

Kabir paused for a moment before he answered. "Our second wedding anniversary...it's perfect. Although it will be the first anniversary that we actually spend together..."

"And it will also be a new beginning for our relationship."

"Yeah...that's true. Okay listen. I actually called you to say that I'll pick you up and we can go to the mehndi ceremony together."

"Okay, I'll be ready. See you tomorrow. Good night. "

"Actually I'll see you later today and good morning!" Kabir laughed as he ended the call.
