"I don't usually do this."
Sanam spoke as she sat down on a chair which Aahil had pulled out for her.
"This is not my style." She simply shared as she took a look before her. Aahil sat down opposite of her from the table and smiled slightly upon her statement.
She couldn't believe that she had agreed on going on a dinner with the Nawab - Aahil Raza Ibrahim.
It was a quite fancy place, as she noticed that it was decorated beautifully. There were tables covered by white cloths with candle lights, wine glasses and cutlery as well. He certainly knew what class was.
She, on the other hand, didn't know what to expect. Was it even a good idea to come along?
His deep voice brought her out from the trail of thoughts.
His eyes met hers. "I know. It's not my style either. But there was something about you which I couldn't help resists asking."
She nodded.
"Although, I know it took a lot to convince you. It gives me an idea of how different you are compared to others."
"Compared to others?" She asked suddenly very interested in hearing his answer.
He sighed slightly.
"Having a famous name and then be given a business to handle is not always a blessing. Once in a while you come across people you will take advantage of you."
"Only if you let them."
He wondered if she always had a clear answer to everything. Was she always this straight forward? Maybe he'll get a chance to find out tonight.
"The world doesn't always work that way, Miss Khan."
"I thought we were passed the first names, Mr. Ibrahim."
A light grin was visible on his lips. "Very well then, if that's what you want Sanam."
"It's what I want Aahil."
They shared a long look with each other, before she broke the eye-contact.
"So, you were talking about something interesting - that you never took advantage of anyone. Not even a woman?"
He leaned back into the chair and tapped his finger on the table ever so slightly. "Interrogating are we?"
Sanam leaned forward with a small smile. "Why? Am I making you nervous?"
Oh, the woman had already started a fire in him. And truth to be told, he found it rather attractive about her.
"No not at all. I have nothing to hide so you can ask right away."
She shrugged her shoulders, "I'm merely asking."
"And Ill tell you the same thing I told you last time. Never trust what's written in the newspapers."
His eyes lingered on her for the first time since they had arrived at the place. He took an opportunity to drink her up with his eyes.
He knew that it took a lot before she could loosen up in his presence. At least they were making progress.
She was looking stunning yet simple in her black long sleeved dress which went under the knees.
She didn't wear much make up only a bit of mascara and a light colored lip-gloss. Her hair was swept gently to the one side.
Aahil felt drawn to her from the very first moment he had laid eyes on her. It was her personality he was attracted to and the fact that she had a certain way to do everything in her own way.
It had taken four months of convincing before she finally agreed to have dinner with him. She was stubborn and strong willed woman, so he hadn't really expected anything else.
Their project was already settled which benefited the both Companies - just like she predicted. She was back at handling a new project at her old company where she worked.
Sanam took a look down at the at the menu card to see what the place had to offer.
Aahil caught himself getting too lost in her beauty so his eyes wandered elsewhere.
He coughed lightly. Since when did Aahil Raza Ibrahim feel nervous?
"Maybe we should order something?" he asked.
"Yes, we should."
A waiter came and took their respective orders as they were left to themselves.
His eyes were turned outside the window in the dark filled evening. Watching how people were passing them being in their own little world.
Sanam took a silence glance at his way and absorbed him. He was styled perfectly just the way he always was, with a slim fitted white shirt and black dress pants.
Her gaze lowered slightly and saw the usual two buttons undone - giving a peek of his perfect sculpted chest.
His eyes went up to his strong jawline and saw the slight stubble he had grown. It suited him well.
It made him look more handsome -if it was even possible.
Sanam Ahmed Khan was feeling attractive to the man before him. She couldn't hide the feeling which was slowly invading her thoughts.
Meanwhile, a waiter had come and placed their drinks on the table. She took a small sip from her drink which consisted of plain ice water with lemon.
"So what else does Aahil Raza Ibrahim?"
"You ask too many questions."
She tried her best to come up with a respond. "I like to know who the person is I'm with."
Aahil reached out for his glass of water and took a sip.
"I like to be surprised," he said with a twinkle in his eyes.
She met his eyes as they were both too busy trying to read each other's thoughts.
Sanam shook her head. "Do you always flirt like this with everyone?"
"Who's flirting?" He asked with a slight smile.
She rolled her eyes.
He remained quiet for a small minute. "Would you believe me if I said no?"
She nodded. "Point taken."
Before they could carry out their conversation, their dinner had been served and began to eat. He had ordered a steak with potatoes.
She had ordered a chicken with pasta.
Sanam raised her gaze and saw him staring.
"What? I'm a food lover. I'm not going to starve myself with eating green stuff."
He chuckled heartily. "I like it."
The more he got chance to know the woman sitting in front of him, the more he felt he had a connection with her.
It had definitely sent a calm feeling inside of him because he already realized just how different she was from others.
45 minutes passed as they finished their dinner in a calm and relaxed manner.
"Aahil? Aahil Raza Ibrahim?" a light voice spoke a few feet away from the couple's table.
They both raised their gazes on to the person the voice belonged to.
"Fancy seeing you here," a woman with wild curly hair spoke as she approached them.
Aahil groaned silently and greeted her with a straight face. "Sonia, hi."
Sanam moved her eyes between the two as she could sense something was unspoken between them.
"Wow! I was rather waiting for your call, but you never did." Her eyes moved to the other side, where Sanam was seated.
Sonia smirked. "Looks like you've found someone new to play with."
Sanam raised her eyebrow feeling rather offended.
"Excuse me?"
Aahil gave the woman a hard glare.
"Sonia! Just because you see me here, does not indicate for you to behave in the way you want. There is a place for everything. Don't you have any self-respect or least who you're talking to and where?"
"Oh I have respect, Mr. Ibrahim. Looks like the one here doesn't really know you at all, I mean does she even know how you behave with women?"
Aahil stood up from his seat and led Sonia further down the restaurant. "What the hell do you think you're doing?"
Sanam sat silently thinking of what just happened. She shook her head by the bitterness she felt at the moment.
She stood up from her seat and threw the napkin down on the table and quietly stormed out from the restaurant.
She ignored the gazes which she received from the tables as she made it through the front door.
She had enough!
Just how could she even believe that... God, how could she be so foolish?
She continued to make it outside toward the parking lot, ignoring the calls from Aahil, who was now walking right behind her.
The black haired man tried to reach out for her arm. "Sanam! Listen to me."
"Enough, Mr. Ibrahim!"
She turned around with hint of disappointment and anger burning through her eyes. She couldn't control her words anymore.
"It's what you do, isn't it? You buy them dinner and you expect them to just fall for your charismatic personality? Well, I got news for you, Mr. Ibrahim. I am not them!"
He stood silently listening to her - allowing her to speak whatever her mind was put on to.
"I don't care who you are, but you should get one thing straight. I am not one of those women. I will not get played. I am not them."
"If I thought you were one of them I would have taken you straight home to me," he said not even ashamed of what words he had let out.
"Hell, they wouldn't even care about dinner!"
Sanam looked at him alarmed with eyes wide open.
"How can you say something like this.. Just what do you -"
"Stop interrupting will you? I hate people who interrupt." He told her.
"The few women you may have seen me with always wanted a piece of the man who was rich and lived a luxury life - Not the real me. The woman you just saw is someone who I had a few problems with in the past."
He took a small pause and took a deep breath.
"Look, I knew you were different, alright. I didn't take you here to impress you or give you any kind of wrong idea. I simply liked your personality. I saw a strong willed woman behind those eyes and I wanted to get to know her better. That's all." he said with a strong serious filled voice.
Sanam swallowed trying to inhale all the information. Should she believe it?
"I'm not going to force you into anything therefore the rest is up to you. Because frankly, forcing someone is not my style."
He took a few steady steps back, and decided to leave her by her car.
Sanam took a small breath as she cursed slightly. Her mind was too busy trying to figure out whether she had made a mistake or not.
Damn it!' she thought and unlocked the car and got inside.
Her eyes opened as a name crossed her mind. Yes, the person would know what to do. She reached for her phone through her bag and dialed the familiar number.
She heard someone pick it up from the other side. "Seher."
"Hey Sista, what's up?"
"Nothing much. What are you doing?"
"I just arrived home a few hours ago and for once I'm home - so no complains this time."
"Okay, what else?"
"Nothing apart from I'm reading one of your boring books you have. What about you? You were on your date right?"
Sanam took a moment to respond as she was still seated in the car at the parking lot. She sighed loudly in the phone.
"What's wrong? Don't tell me he turned out to be a jerk again?"
"No. it's nothing like that. I think I might have implied something to offend him."
"What did you say?"
"You know I was out with Aahil, the man I did business with about his company and I.."
"Woah! Wait a minute. Aahil.. Aahil as in Raza Ibrahim - The Nawab?"
"Yeah" she said causally not sure where her sister was heading.
"You were out on a date with a Nawab? OMG! He's the same guy Rehan talks about."
"Rehan?"
"You're seriously asking me that? Where have you been in the last six months?" Seher exclaimed.
"I told you about Rehan and where I had met him."
"Sorry, I've been busy lately."
"Well, I'm seeing him and listen to this. He is his half-brother of Aahil."
"What? He's his half-brother? Just how do we end up in these situations?"
"Me? It's easy, I'm a hot magnet, and I attract hot guys to me."
Sanam sighed.
"But I've got to say, Nawab? And that Aahil? Hold on a second, let me just Google him."
"Seher.."
"Hush, Sista. Let me do my work."
Sanam sat listening to her sister typing and then a second later, she heard a whistle.
"Damn, he's sure is a catch. What did you do to turn him off?"
"Seher, I swear.."
"Okay, jeez. Relax; now tell me what did you do?"
"First of all I did not turn him down."
"Ah, so you admit you have a liking for him? I knew it."
"You're clearly not helping with the situation."
"Whatever you have done, I'm sure it can be fixed. The night is still young. Go and approach him again. I'm sure things are going to be in the best hands afterwards. Just remember not to let him have the upper hand if you know what I mean."
"Seher Ahmed Khan, for God sake where is your mind at?"
"Right now? In your boring book of yours. Ugh, I'm really thinking on watching some action movies right now. Anyway, go and catch him, woman! And I'm going to look forward to hear everything once you're back. Bye"
"Bye."
She hanged up and turned on the engine as she drove out from the parking lot, toward her new destination.
