Aahil needs to grow...

Aahil is a very emotionally confused person as a result of physical abuse in childhood and years of emotional blackmailing and guilt. He didn't have a stand of his own before.

Before, he did whatever his mother told him to do. Depended on her phone calls to him from jail, telling him what to do, reinforcing her position in his whole life, making sure he is weak and centered on her. He had meaningless dalliances, all instant noodles type, commitment scared him. Because it would distract him from his mother.

But when it suited his mother, she made him marry. He put up a half hearted protest, but ultimately he did as she wanted. For her.

But he couldn't help his attraction for Sanam. He saw a remarkable woman who defied him, embodied truth and strong principles. He saw someone more admirable than his mother.

Sanam asked him to quit drinking, he quit. She didn't like his past, he left it all behind. She asked him to let go of his guilt, loneliness and nightmares, for her, he did just that. She told him that if they wanted to be with each other, no one can separate them. He believed her, and started to hope.
Then came the clash between will of mother and will of his newfound love. His mother wants him to give up his love, he fights it privately; is very much tortured by the prospect. But ultimately the noose around his head won.

But then he thought Sanam rejected him. After all that acceptance he got from her, suddenly it looks like it's about to go away altogether. And he couldn't stomach it.

For the first time, he made a stand on his own. He wanted to be with Sanam, whatever his mother wants or says. Sweet boy that he is, he's convinced he can bring the mother's mind around it.

But he decided, all by himself, that he wants Sanam, no matter what, and is ready to fight for her. This is just a small start towards him being his own person.

I'd like to see Aahil grow into a man who decides his life and makes all his own decisions. Regardless of what his mother or Sanam want him to be.

Aahil is one of the best thought out characters on QH, along with Asad Ahmed Khan...

Lovely post on Aahil to be self reliant

He should and lately he must have understood what is love and obligation.

Hope they show this difference occurred to him.

He must recognize his strength and weakness then only he can really rectify what is to be done and take his own decision not be influenced by either Tanvir or Sanam.

Self reliant decision is necessary to differentiate between good and bad.

The Aahil whose spine is bent in obligation should straight in love.

Great post, and agree totally. Aahil was always under Tanveer's thumb because he was completely blinded by her so called sacrifice, and also the fact that she knew his so called "Truth"? Which was that he was a killer. He lost his idenitity and became her pawn, because his guilt at his supposed crime, and also his Mother taking his punishment was too much for Aahil to overcome on his own. He was completely weighed down by it. He had a bad start as well, with his father's neglect and abuse. Tanveer showed him affection and gave him attention and he was already under her spell. So he believed her implicitly when she told him he killed his Father. What Tanveer did to him was even worse than what his Father did. Emotional abuse.

The attitude and the bravado we see in Aahil at the start, is just his facade. He was only sure of himself when it comes to business and his meaningless dalliances. He didnt actually think anyone would love him, other than his Mother. Maybe that is why he didn't get involved with women of substance. Only fickle women who wanted him for his wealth and title. Women like Sanam were never in his orbit. But from the moment he first saw her, and she defied him, he was totally fascinated by her. Taken with her. She made an impression. Not something women usually do to him. Nida was a friend, so he had a different equation with her. But even that relationship was shallow. She too was only interested in using him.

Finally yesterday we saw Aahil being unable to suppress the greatest desire of his heart. Attaining Sanam's love and keeping it. He wanted a life with her. That life they dreamed about living in their dream home with their kids! That dream that Aahil saw months ago when he bought that farmhouse and saw Sanam playing with those kids in the grounds. Finally he reached out for the love that had been offered to him. The love he always wanted from this women. The idea of losing her was enough to compel him to act. I loved it, and it was a full circle moment for Aahil.

Now, Aahil needs to use this momentum to stand on his own with his own identity and not be shadowed by his Mother. But Sanam knows that the only thing that can totally set him free and save him from Tanveer's clutches is the truth.

My favorite line from the Bible is;

"You shall know the truth, and the truth shall set you free!"

No truer words have ever been spoken. Nothing but the truth can set Aahil free now. But he has taken a step in the right direction finally!

Agreed. Do I want SaHil separation? No. But Aahil needs the separation to be able to stand on his own. He is too dependent on both Tanveer and Sanam. Tanveer is a facade and fake, and Sanam is the real thing. But even so, he needs to find his own self and be able to sustain without Sanam. He needs to have the strength to care about himself and his life, without it being tied to Sanam.

Aahil as a character has always been strong.

We praise Sanam for her strength, forgetting that she was nurtured by her loving strong grandmom... in a stable atmosphere. Even though she may now feel bad that the truth of her parent's truth was hidden, it certainly saved her vulnerable psyche as a kid...which is why after the truth actually hit her she didn't go berserk and instead started finding out whatever little she could about her parents.
Aahil was practically parentless ...even with a father who was actually a sorry excuse of a father anyway! Real mom dead, a fake mom present with her fake love, guilt of killing his own dad... and then living in years of neglect...must have played havoc with his soft emotions
And then as a kid he must've wondered if he indeed is worthy of love or not. If his own dad could not love him, why would anyone else love him.
The fact that he is able to stand up after living a crippled life with so little support is commendable and this when Ammi 's halo is still intact.

lovely post
for aahil to really grow he needs to be free of his past, his supposed crime. Basically he needs to know the truth soon.
sanam managed to free him of his guilt and burden a little, but still his attachment to his ammi exists cause he feels that he is indebted to her for her sacrifice.
so i feel aahil needs to know the truth about tanveer and her crime(which she used to manipulate him ) for aahil to really start taking his own stand
agree with @Mrdarcyfan- only the truth can set him free now
right now he only takes a stand when he is pushed to the limit, like here when the thought of losing her is when he actually takes a stand.
but def aahil is the best and well written character of QH and excellently portrayed by KVB👏

I'll be back
*********

Woah, there are some long comments on this post!
Mine won't be. Simply because I haven't watched since last week. I will hopefully catch up this weekend.

I just wanted to say that yes, I completely agree in terms of how you think about Aahil. Everything that has happened from the time Sanam has come into his life, has been a step in the direction of him "finding himself".

It's been a pleasure to watch how much he's grown and I am sure it will continue being so.

I might say more after I actually catch up with the epis!

good post SF!
YES!Ahil needs to grow, if only they'll let him, amidst the cacophony of all the cat fights😉

Ideally, the Nawab's murder truth should have been focused on Ahil, his character growth,as he comes to terms with the lie he has been forced to live and the true face his murderous mom.Instead we've a khichadi with the vamps and khala-khalu dominating. Not happy. Too many tracks exploding all at once.
It'll be sad, if they show Ahil not able to see thr' Sehar immediately. What happened to the soulmate connection? He always showed up when Sanam was in danger. He should atleast be shown restless.
Not sure how this will play and have no interest in watching a bumbling petty thief pushing and arm twisting an old blind serial killer, not what i signed up for post leap. So, be back to watching after the chaos have settled.

I hope Ahil doesn't become the Maamji of IPKND and sent off on an eternal business trip overseas.

They've great potential for a complex character and a fabulous actor who can do justice to the role.

Ahil has whole lot of issues to grapple with before he can stand on his own & take charge of his life.

We don't know how his mom died, is she dead,or locked up somewhere?little Ahil might have grown up with abandonment issues from his mom's death. He has only accepted recently that he is worthy of being loved for himself, when Sanam came into his life.He still has the massive guilt. When he was confessing killing his father he said he killed his Abbu not the abuser.
For sensitive guy like him, believing he killed someone might be eating him alive all his life.
OH!there's lots they can do with his character other than making him unbutton his shirt.
