DOTW: Pakistani Shows and Patriotism

Greetings,


With any ado at all, I'm gonna be introducing the topic. For, it has been inside my head for some time now but due to lack of ideas, I was saving it for DOTW.


A few weeks ago, I suggested my tuition teacher to try Zindagi and I told her that Pakistani serials will make you want to never watch Indian ones again. There the much needed breath of sindoor and look-look-hawa-hawa less air that we have all secretly been wanting for sometime now. In reply, she told me that I'm one of those Indians who dun like what the country offers. If American shows and movies come around, my kind of people watch them and criticize Indian ones. We're so unpatriotic, if you will toward our country that we will even watch Pakistani shows.


"Apne aap ko bech doge kisi din,"she said in reference to 'people like me'. 🐷


In summation, ever since then I have been meaning to put worth the following question to as many people as I can:


Do you think that watching foreign shows, especially Pakistani shows is unpatriotic on our parts? Please do justify your opinions.


I'm looking forward to a healthy discussion here.

Firstly, Brilliant topic!

Do not start this Patriotism tag with the people who watch other countries shows .

I do not think i have to write anything . Why specially the educated class is appreciating Pak dramas ? Is it not the time that our makers has to do some introspection,what kind of trash they are feeding the people . If we appreciate or watch American shows then we are not unpatriotic ?, if watch Pak sensible shows then we become unpatriotic . Its we common people who both the sides have the same problems . We have same traditions , same values , same kind of families . Whats so different , just 60-70 years ago we were from the same soil . And sorry i am off to Hindi channels long time back where just are going for rat race and story takes the back seat . ZGH , no doubt was the breath of fresh air .Most of we Indians had thought of some other kind of vision of Pakistan . Just watching felt , nothing is different here and there . Stick to story ,end within 28 episodes , no trash in the name of romance , its emotions which tells the story .

Why do not our makers bring back the pre K era when we had strong content stories . Now do not have to use creativity . Already have copied three of across dramas into one .

Why this came to mind when Pak dramas are becoming popular specially in educated crowd who were off to Hindi ones already . No dearth of talent where its subtle . No over the top melodrama whatever shows i have seen . I do not think this topic needs healthy discussion . Watching Pak shows does not make me less patriotic yes feel ashamed of my own Hindi serial makers who have put their brains in the deep freezer . Such a vast country with treasure of literature , do not have the stories to tell .

Did not wanted to write but watching Daam ,Pak drama , do we have these kind of stuff where emotions are the story ,which makes you feel the pain of real people not the reel people . . Already have seen so many class and quality shows and just makes me surprised ,how well directed and the how talented actors are who do not have to use glycerine factory , not go on with love chanting saga , not falling and slipping every time , no ever ending crap name eye locks .
Can go on writing .

Pakistanis have always been watching Indian movies. I don't think that makes them un patriotic . So if we watch Pakistani tv shows then how is that any different.
I didn't even know people could think like that. Idea of tv is that u watch anything that appeals to u. That's where the production house's creativity comes in. If that wasn't true then probably pakistan people would not have worshipped kishore da, Lata, amitabh, rekha, shahrukh and all the people we luv. For them it's simply that Pakistan doesn't make good movies but india does so watch it and support the good work.

watching Pakistani shows did not affect our patriotism at all.there is absolutely no connection between the two.i dont understand how people connect these two with each other.i watch pakistani dramas because they offer good stories having good content in just 20-25 episodes plus they are very close to reality with no nonsense. I love pakistani dramas that does not means I dont love my country.i love my country more than anything.
I am watching pakistani serials since 2011 , my friends used to tease me by calling pakistan drama deewani.when i watched humsafar one day I convinced to watch humsafar to one of them and she was so impressed that after watching she started asking me whether I had downloaded the new eoisode or not so that she can watch it.
i was so happy when zindagi started. now when zindagi started I referred ZGH and zindagi to my other 2 friends and now they are diehard fans of fawad and sanam saeed.they agree that there is no comparison at all between ZGH and any indian show.

Who said watching Pakistani Shows effect ur Patriotism? I havent started calling myself Pakistani..!! I am was and will be Indian till my last breath. And those who take it to the level of Patriotism they do not know it better than me! Being The Daughter of an Ex-Navy Personnel I very well understand the meaning of Patriotism.. I have it in every iota of my being. My Father has served the nation for glorious years.. So they do not know the definition of Patriotism better than me. All I know is Art, Litreature, Artist, Sports And Sportsman have no boundries.. I just appreciate the fact that our neighbouring country has sum classic shows. Not like our Indian Sitcoms who are just limited to Dupatta-Flying, Eyelocks, Hair-Waving, Trip And Hold, Hero-Heroines neck kissing And Satin Sheets which u cant watch being embarresed. All these years, The Indian audiences have been fooled with such superficial norms for love. Even I used to believe in them. But then came in Our Zindagis, Zee Zindagi, Zindagi Gulzar Hai And

The Man Himself Fawad Afzal Khan who cumpletly changed my outlook towards Love and Life. Zindagi Gulzar taught me the real meaning of life which isnt a bed of roses as shown in our shows.. It changed my outlook towards Marriage.. It isnt all perfect and dreamy wid Romantic Candlelight dinners and romantic momemts.. And Then Fawad...!!! What to say? Call me a crazy Fawad Pankhi or whateva.. But I love this man cuz he taught me the real meaning of Love Or Mohabbat. It isnt only about huggs, kisses and gifts.. Love doesnt needs to be declared always.. Just a simple gesture of holding ur partner's hand and a look can create magic..❤️ What I dont understand is by watching American, British and Latin-American shows we dont becum an American, A Britisher or A Latin American so Why wid the Pakistani Series? To Be Very honest..We seriously need to change our mindset. My Mumma and I enjoy the Pak Dramas on Zindagi and my Father neva objects on that. These series have actually taught me about life!
