Good Morning once again my Forumwaasis!!
So last night!! Wow!! What a night!! It started out with Sho's painful desperation and ended with her painful acceptance. We could feel her confusion, anger, despair leaping out of the screen and surrounding us. And amidst all that we have Vicky's quirky and blunt honesty making us groan and giggle and Sam's face ripped off the mask of decency and integrity making us mouth obscenities that would have our mouths washed had our mothers heard it.
Fantastic performance by the Terrific Trio. They deserve a standing ovation. As Vidisha has aptly said before none of them is an immature and they slid into their roles like they were made for them.
One major thing that grabbed my interest was this:
Usha Vs The Stranger
One was Sho's friend and the other was someone whom Sho has never met, interacted or even knew the name of. But both of them conveyed almost the same message to her.
Usha narrated about the four stages - Denial, acceptance, anger and moving on. She said Sho was in a stage of denial. And that she has to regroup and move on. That dialogue was definitely needed. But not at that point. One can't expect her to move on at that kind of warp speed. I mean.. come on, her husband literally just got arrested a few minutes back. She is confused and doesn't even fully comprehend what the hell... sorry... what in the world is going on and here madam was lecturing about accepting and moving on. Maybe that was why Sho hadn't been receptive to Usha's advice and got defensive about it. That is probably what any person in denial would do. Build a stronger defense. That defense was strong enough to even refute the words of the IG.
And the next morning.. Sho meets her mother (Oh, we finally got to know one more member of her family. Father passed away would be the obvious conclusion one can draw.) Even when her mother tried to talk to her, she had been in denial. But when she heard the words, "Don't ask him any questions. Just keep quiet. You need to courage to hear some answers." That was when I think the shock started loosening its grip on her psyche. That was immediately followed by Vicky's conversation with his friend that she overhears. "People are cowards. They have no issues with lies. They have issues with the truth. They can't face it, can't accept it."
Words were different but both Usha and the "Stranger" said the same thing. No point denying the truth. You need to accept it. But the stranger's words were indeed the deciding factor for Sho. They led her to Sam and the truth.
Why? Usha is her friend but Sho got defensive with her. The Stranger wasn't even talking to her directly yet she took his words to heart. Was it because a night has passed which gave her time to think? Or because her mother had already talked to her about maintaining silence and she realized she didn't want to do that? Or a combination of the two??
What made her go to Sam and the truth?
