Hello! I see your point but I think I have a different take on it.

Since the time Bhavna would have asked Raj to break of this relation, there were only some ways he could do it. He obviously can't tell Avni that your mother asked me to break of the relation, as then it is as good as Bhavna's truth coming out which Bhavna didn't want. He could have told her something along the lines of I love you but we can't be together but that wouldn't make sense and Avni wouldn't believe him and try to needle stuff out of him and keep hoping. Or he could make Avni hate him. He chose the last one as it was most effective.

Now, to make Avni hate him, he had to go all out. He had to leave Avni no room for doubt that he was acting or still cared. He had to be so harsh that Avni wouldn't think about why or how but just hate him for everything he said. So he completely went back on everything she believed about him. All the things he loved Avni for, he turned them as points against this relationship. Insulted her parents, didn't care about anything. Avni would have been hurt regardless of any method he chose. But this way, hate will be a more overpowering emotion. She will think him the worst sort of cad and scoundrel who ditched her at the altar and someone she is good to be without. According to Raj, it will be easier to get over him then because he expects nothing out of this now. A clean break is what he wanted. So he shut off his emotions and went with it. It was like choosing between the devil and the deep blue sea and he did it.

And I have said before that Raj would do anything for Avni. So even if it meant him turning villain and hurting Avni so that she could later, according to him, find happiness, he would do it. So I do think he still was in character. I felt horrible for Avni but I felt equally bad for Raj as well. Having to do this would have killed him from inside.

Given all this, I understand why Raj thought this was the best option available.

Fine he wanted Avni to hate him but not on disgracing her like this and lower her self-esteem..thats not done...Those insult are more deep than a physical wound..let that he goes on an insulting spree towards the khandelwal..

Tomorrow Raj will cry his heart out saying i had to do this to you Avni etc after pouring so much venom to her..so cliched..

For me its a total butchering of a character in a few minutes...Now a leap is introduced and focus on Avni as a career woman.. ..this Bhavna past..wedding track viewers could not make head nor tail out of what creatives wanted to show..it was so confusing and messed out completely..hope this leap is a saving grace for the show..
