Chapter 14:
Karan looked at his watch and realized that it was getting quite late. "Oh look at the time...it seems to have just flown by. Bro, it was really good to catch up with you after so long and Rachna bhabhi, I must say that I've fallen in love with you already. I wish I had met you earlier."
Rachna gets serious upon hearing that, but smiles when she sees Karan wink at her.
"Karan! You're too much!" Rachna playfully punches Karan, while Kabir looks on, amused by their banter.
"Ok Karan...I'll catch up with you later. Bye!" The two brothers hug affectionately.

After Karan has left, Rachna picks up her purse and also gets ready to leave but Kabir catches her hand.
"And where are you going my darling?"
Rachna blushes. "Kabir...what are you doing? Come on...we should also get going."
Kabir tilts his head to the side and pulls Rachna close to himself. "Really? What's the hurry? Let's have some dessert, spent some more time together...I haven't seen you in the past 11 months! You have to make it up to me, don't you?"
Rachna became serious. "I'm sorry Kabir. How could I be so foolish and hur..."
Kabir put his finger on Rachna's lips and quieted her. "No more apologies. We can't undo what has already been done but that doesn't mean that we're not going to move on. A wise man once told me 'You can't start the next chapter of your life if you keep re-reading the last one.' I love you and no piece of paper from any court in this world can change that. Got it?"
Kabir kissed Rachna on her forehead lovingly. She was touched by his words and gave him a nod in agreement. Kabir smiled at her and then called for the waiter.
"Hi, can we please get a molten chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream on the side. Bring two spoons and go heavy with the ice cream."
"Sure sir, I'll get that for you right away."
Once the waiter left Kabir turned his attention back to Rachna. He was about to say something but was interrupted by an announcement from the restaurant's owner.
"Attention everyone! Sorry to interrupt your wonderful evening but it is actually the 10th anniversary of this restaurant today. And co-incidentally, it's also my wife and I's five year wedding anniversary. So to celebrate the restaurant's success and our love, we would like to invite all the couple's here tonight for a small dance competition. The winners will get a special prize. And hey, even if you don't win the competition, you're still a winner because you get a romantic dance with the person that you love."
The chatter in the restaurant resumed and some couples also began to move towards the front of the restaurant where a small stage had been set up for the dance competition.
"So Rachna...let's start writing the next chapter of our lives. How about a dance?"
Kabir stuck his hand out and waited for Rachna's response. She placed her hand in his and smiled brightly. The two of them made their way towards the stage.
Once all the couples had gathered, the manager explained the rules.
"Thank you so much everyone for participating. So the rules are simple: each couple will dance for one minute on the song of their choice and then we will choose the winning couple at the end by popular voting. We will take a vote from all the diners here tonight. So please make your way towards the DJ and let him know your names and the song that you want to dance to."

All the four other couples have performed already and at last it is Kabir and Rachna's turn. As they take the stage, the lights in the restaurant are dimmed, just like Kabir had requested the restaurant staff to do.

Rachna and Kabir stand separately on the stage, facing each other...looking longingly at one another.

Kabir stretches his hand out and Rachna places her hand in his.

He holds her waist and she places her other hand on his shoulder.

Kabir pulls Rachna closer to himself and she places her head on his chest. They start swaying gently from side to side with the music. He twirls her once and they stand facing each other again.

Kabir holds Rachna's outstretched hand and interlocks his fingers with hers.
Tu jo paas ho...phir kya yeh jahaan...tere pyaar mein, ho jaoon fanaa...(When you are with me...what use do I have for the world...let me be destroyed in your love...)
She spins herself towards Kabir and lands with both of her hands on his chest. They stare into each other's eyes as he holds her by the waist and lifts her up while Rachna places her hands on his shoulders.

Kabir slowly brings Rachna down and holds both her hands. He twirls her once again and catches her is his arms. He has both of his hands on her waist and Rachna has both of her arms wrapped loosely around his neck.
Jitne paas hain...khushbu saans ke...(As close as...fragrance is to breath...)
They gently sway to the music while looking at each other. Their faces are so close that each one can feel the other's breath.
Jitne paas hothon ke sargam...(As close as melody is to lips...)
He moves his lips closer to hers but she shyly turns away and he kisses her cheek.
Jaise saath hain...karvat yaad ke...(As close as...twists and turns are to thought...)
Rachna moves away but Kabir holds her hand and twirls her once. She stands with her back towards him, their bodies touching.
Jaise saath baahon ke sangam...(As close as arms entwined...)
He runs his fingers down both of Rachna's arms, from her shoulders to her hands. He grabs her hands and turns her so she is facing him again. Her eyes are closed.
Jitne paas paas...khwaabon ke nazar...(As close to me...as my dreams...)
He kisses her eyes gently...one by one. She opens her eyes and stares at him romantically.
Utne paas tu rehna humsafar...(stay that close to me my life's companion...)
She wraps her arms around his chest and hugs him tightly.

He touches her face tenderly and she looks into his eyes.

Kabir holds her hand again and twirls her once. She places her head onto his chest and they sway to the music gently.
The song fades away but Kabir and Rachna remain lost in each other's arms, swaying in silence as the song continues to play in their hearts. The thundering applause from their audience brings them out of their romantic thoughts and they quickly move off stage. Rachna blushes as the other couples stare at them. The restaurant owner walks onto the stage with his wife.
"Wow! That was an unexpected treat! Rachna and Kabir, this applause by our audience says it all...you guys are unquestionably the winners of this competition. So please come up on stage. Ladies and gentlemen, let's welcome this very much in love couple on stage once again!"
Rachna and Kabir walk onto the stage, hand in hand. A glittering crown is placed on her head and he is given a bouquet of red roses, which he lovingly gifts to her. They also receive a voucher for a two day all-expense paid trip to Goa.

He loosely interlocked his fingers with hers while they strolled down the empty beach on this tranquil night. The moon shone brightly down on them and the waves created a peaceful song to fill the silence.
She paused and sat down in the sand, hugging her knees into her chest. He followed suit and sat down next to her. They sat next to each other and stared out at the calm waters. He placed his arm around her shoulders and she rested her head comfortably against his body. Neither of them felt the need to say anything...the silence said it all.
