Are most people pretentious?

Hi to all,

Are most people pretentious or say are pretending to be "nice" or are they exceptions to the rule? Are such people dark souls? Are most people trust-worthy?

I don't see how one can live life trusting others, not questioning if somebody is what they appear to be and not get burned by pretentious people.

How do you know you can trust someone?

Well its hard to be oneself with strangers till you know them. We can be ourselves with our family and friends and vice versa. As for being pretentious.... from experience I know some people do. What I mean is that some can be nice to your face and then stab you behing your back. When we are adults I would think that after a while we get to judge such a person and take appropriate caution. It gets easy to recognize superficial people after some experience.

As for trusting someone, I would really like to give someone the benefit of a doubt. Once I was stuck in a car turning below forty temp. in the snow and two young lads came running to the car. I was frightened at first but these two saviours helped push me out of the snowdrift. When they opened my car door to talk to me I seriously thought they were going to snatch my purse...... but all they said was they will help me if I manouver the car in certain way. So all I am saying there are a lot of genuine people out there who actually mean well.

I don't see how one can live life trusting others, not questioning if somebody is what they appear to be and not get burned by pretentious people. There are 3 things in life for sure. Death, Taxes and nice / pretentious people.

How do you know you can trust someone? Don't know. but people still trust stock brokers with their hard earned money don't they?😊

I think you meet pretentious people as well as very nice ppl who appear to be pretentious. In today's world, its kinda difficult to gauge the person too soon or perfectly as well.

As far as trustworthiness goes, theres this temporary situation, like the one GA mentioned. You are just left helpless and can just pray that nothing goes wrong at that moment. If your car breaks down in the middle of nowhere, its really hard to tell if the person who stops midway intending to help you, is trustworthy or not. Cross ur fingers and hope for the best.

And theres this long term trust. In this case, I think, you meet some people in your good times and some in bad times. The ones you meet in your bad ones are tested immediately...you can mostly figure out who you can trust, you can rely on. If you are riding the good wave in your life ..you tend to meet people in your good times and you really dont know if you can trust them in your bad times. My mausa ji's good time friend just turned his back on him when his business ride went rough all of a sudden, and this happens after 30 yrs of knowing his friend! And this happens when mausa ji's friend was on a good ride of life himself...so you really cant tell. Highs n lows in my life, even at this early stage in life so to say, have helped me filter out the people I can trust and the ones I cant.

But having said that, we never know why the other person just breaks your trust or lives upto it. Cus he/she always has some situations going on in his/her life as well.

unfortunately some are not trustworthy being awfully pretentious..

sweet talkers are harder to catch, but you'll figure it out by hanging out a few times. how far will their lies go? they also generate a reputation they can't escape because whether right or wrong, people tend to judge people😉, not all can be expected to be saints!

So what if some ended up not being trustworthy? as long as you did not compromise your chastity, sanity and honour, public image, responsibilities towards your loved ones, I guess one must move on learning from a bad mistake.😊

I am too gullible to be asked how I trust someone. I trust everyone unless found guilty of breaking it :(
Not the greatest way to live life!! 😆 😆 .. But guess what? I think I am still doing better than few of my closest friends and my hubby who thinks "all are guilty, unless proved innocent and are being nice only because they need something in return.. "- that is such a cynical attitude i think 🤢 .. although he is never hurt by people and i always am.. 😛
