That actually is my question. Why are we following anyone in the first place? Our makers lack creativity?
I understand the makers wanted to make a show based on the theme of revenge and the English version gives them this inspiration. But dont we have our own creatives ? Why cut copy paste is such a WOW thing to us ?

Even a petty shopkeeper will give you this line, Madam quality guaranteed hai . akhir imported jo hai. I mean what does that mean. We cannot make quality things or what ?

Besides, why story line cannot be changed because it is an adaptation ? If it was an adaptation why not make the exact copy ? Why bring the theme of rape and then let the lead lady marry a rapist ? I always find rape heinous of all crimes. Sice, the issue is sensitive and deals with women and women empowerment we cannot just say Emily married Jack so make Durga marry a Goenka. What example does it give us ? Marry to get justice ?

India is a different land altogether. Surrounded by various sorts of social issues and as a victim of various social crimes, Indian shows have to use their own brain instead of blindly following their western counterparts.

I can name thousand of such shows which were suppose to be an adaptation of some novel and ended like a disaster

@dey they have changed it to suit the Indian space. Coming to creativity well that's a different topic and I don't want to comment on it. But the point is EHT is similar to Revenge and that have followed a similar trail which maybe not for some interesting, but there are others who are finding it interesting enough.

Since you agree that they have changed it to suit the Indian space then there is no reason why it has to compared to English counterpart every now and then.
My initial post was reply to TM's notion that even the English version had ups and downs.

My question is about social responsibility. Look the western world is not struggling with the position of women in the society. India on the other hand is struggling hard to fight discrimination against women. First there are section of people who wont the let girl child survive. Then there are people who wont believe education is equally important for girls. Then women are to be burnt alive in the name of dowry and so on. In such a situation showing such stuffs cannot be appreciated.. Tv doesn't mean entertainment alone.

Its not about you like or what I dislike. Its not what you find interesting and what I dont find interesting. Its about ethics first and entertainment second.

Besides, you will have to agree that an Indian bride is not only a wife. She is bahu first and wife second. The institution of marriage is absolutely different in India. Here the bride has to live in her sasural. A Sasural which literally is defined as father-in-law's house. How exactly am I to calculate EHT on the lines of American culture ? How can one possibly believe that Emily and Durga will resemble each other in future only because they both got married the same way?

Its really sad how the quality of Indian shows has become a big joke now. Nothing to learn because all the medical or legal facts are baseless. Nothing inspiring. Nothing to follow just watch it and forget it thereafter.

In Revenge too Emily has her emotional ups and downs. Durga also needs to go through this ups and downs is my take.
How you will you survive through your emotions by keeping the mission intact. Relations whether we agree or disagree forms an important part of woman's life in India.
Just because she became a bahu she need not be shown weak. How she can stay strong after she becomes bahu is also a point to be taken.
So I will wait till how they are shaping Durga's character post marriage.
When I said Indian space I meant the romantic relations for both male and female has been kept conservative. Emily has affection for 3 men in Revenge. Here they have restricted the real romantic feelings only for the male lead.
Similarly the male leads also have multiple pairs. Jack actually marries another woman, not the one he loves. Here they have only kept Durga another woman but in the end it will be shown the male lead gets the woman he truly loves.
Else the characterizations are more or less the same.
