Excerpt #2... will post the chapter very soon! :)

"Will you regret this?" he asked, searching her eyes. "We both know your intention right now is not to get pregnant."

All he found in her eyes was love - a lot of love.

"I just want you Randhir," she whispered. "I would never regret being with you."

She removed her hands from his chest and brought them up, resting them against his hands on her face.

"Don't you think you're cheating on Parth?" he asked her softly.

"No Randhir, I don't," she whispered in response. "But, I'd be cheating myself and you if I stopped myself right now."

"You don't need to separate us Sanyukta," he murmured. "There's no me or you... that's the mistake we made last time. Not anymore."

Chapter Fifteen

Randhir didn't know how to react. He wanted to be with her too - in fact, he wanted to say yes right away. But logically, there was no reason that they should be together. The only reason supporting their union was that they loved each other, and love itself was at a higher realm than logic.

If they got together, there were so many consequences attached with it, that Randhir had to make her understand.

Randhir slowly took one of her hands in his and lead her back towards the hotel. She looked up at him with mesmerized eyes, just as she had been looking at him all night. It was almost as if she was looking at him with a different light, and Randhir knew that she was. She was truly ready to forget about the past and start a new future together with him. She was ready to leave all her baggage and start afresh.

Still holding her hand, he approached the reception desk.

"Can I get a room for the night?" Randhir asked.

The receptionist checked them into a room and handed them both keys. Sanyukta continued to look at Randhir the whole time, studying his features so much, it was like she was noticing something she hadn't before.

Still holding her hand, Randhir entered the elevator with her. It was empty. Sanyukta was still looking at him with her mesmerized smile.

"Sanyukta, how long did you say you'll be out for at home?" Randhir asked.

"I didn't," Sanyukta said with a smile.

"You didn't? They won't know you might be out for the whole night?" Randhir asked, surprised.

"I told Parth that I was sleeping early and then I texted him to take care of Shraddha just as I was leaving," she explained.

The elevator doors opened for them and they stepped out on their floor.

"God Sanyukta... Parth is probably so confused," Randhir said, shaking his head. "Couldn't you just stay home?"

Sanyukta felt herself frown.

"Why are you advocating for Parth now?" she asked with a raised eyebrow. "You're feeling okay, right Randhir?"

"No just think about it Sanyukta," Randhir said with a frown. "How strange must it seem that you said you were sleeping early one moment, and then walked out of the door suddenly the next without telling him where you're going?"

"Yes, I suppose that it does sound strange," she admitted. "Do you think he knows I came to meet you?"

"I'm a hundred percent sure he knows," Randhir replied softly. "Parth isn't stupid Sanyukta."

"Then telling him I want to be with you will be easy," Sanyukta said with a satisfied smile.

Randhir shook his head. She was completely crazy.

Unlocking the door to their hotel room, Randhir entered, still holding onto Sanyukta's hand. He turned on the light with his other hand and looked around. It was a small, but luxurious room with a king sized bed that took up half of the room.

"Where do you live Randhir?" Sanyukta asked him curiously as he lead her to bed. "I mean instead of coming here, you could have just taken me to your place right?"

She sat down on the bed and leaned against the pillow, stretching her legs out and he sat beside her, leaning on the other pillow.

"I just moved out of my place," Randhir admitted. "I mean... I lived with Vidhushi, and when I broke up with her, I decided to move out on my own."

He noticed her face fall slightly, but she rested her head on his shoulder and held onto his arm tightly.

"So my new place is really messy. The bed isn't even set up yet," he told her.

She leaned into him more. Her face pressed against his neck made him have the urge to bring her closer to him, but he stopped himself. He had another purpose for bringing her here.

"You were cold outside, so I thought we could spend some time talking here," he explained.

They were silent for a few moments, both of them quietly listening to each other's breathing, when Sanyukta spoke up.

"Randhir," she said.

"Hmm?" Randhir asked.

"Vidhushi must be upset," she pointed out.

Randhir frowned slightly. Why was she even talking about Vidhushi?

"Yes, she was very upset when I told her," Randhir said.

"How long were you with her?" Sanyukta asked softly.

"Three years," Randhir told her. "Maybe a little longer."

"Three years," Sanyukta repeated, seemingly in deep thought. "Did you have any feelings for her? At all?"

Randhir looked down at her with a raised eyebrow.

"Why are you asking all of this Sanyukta?" he asked.

"Three years is longer than we were together Randhir... a lot longer. But you still left her for me?" she asked.

Randhir sighed, and pulled her body off him before looking her in the eye and cupping her face with his hands.

"Sanyukta, despite being with Vidhushi, I would... I would think about you," he admitted. "I told you this last night too. It was always you. We slept in different rooms... despite living together, despite being close to each other. I still couldn't sleep in the same room with her at night."

"So you never developed feelings for her?" Sanyukta asked.

"She was my friend Sanyukta, so of course I had feelings for her," Randhir told her. "In fact, yes there were some romantic feelings too... but not as intense as anything we ever shared."

"Why did I never feel anything romantic for Parth, Randhir?" Sanyukta asked. "When he's supported me so much? I've respected him, I've felt grateful towards him... in fact, so grateful to the extent that if he asks me to give him my life, I would."

"Parth would never ask such a thing Sanyukta," Randhir told her.

"I know, he's so selfless," she said with a sigh.

"I don't know about selfless, but he truly cares about you," he said. "If you... if you did give him your life, if you did marry him, he wouldn't let you be sad."

She looked up at him, and Randhir could feel her disappointment.

"How can you let me go so easily Randhir?" she asked, looking hurt. "Doesn't it hurt you like it hurts me?"

He tucked a few strands of hair behind her ear and watched as she shivered slightly. He had always loved having this effect on her, but today the effect felt so bittersweet.

"It hurts Sanyukta," he told her - only he knew how much the thought of letting her go hurt him, "But then I remember that it is for you and Shraddha, and I feel better about it."

"But I don't love him Randhir," Sanyukta whispered. "How can I be with him?"

"He loves you though," Randhir explained, stroking her cheek softly. "That's all you need."

"But you love me too Randhir, why can't I be with you?" she asked him, her eyes welling up with tears.

"You can be with me Sanyukta," Randhir told her, and her face looked hopeful for a few moments, "But you tell me... don't you think your guilt will build up and one day you'll explode with guilt. Look at what Parth has done for you. You just expect things from him - you text him once to take care of Shraddha and give no explanation of where you're going at night, and he does. He doesn't question you."

She looked down shamefully.

"He's already Shraddha's father Sanyukta, whether Shraddha calls him that or not. Do you think Shraddha would be able to forget Parth so easily if you two come to live with me? She's very attached to him. I can sense it," Randhir explained.

Sanyukta nodded and Randhir knew that she knew this truth too... if him and Sanyukta ever got married, it'd be hard to detach Shraddha from Parth.

"But she can visit him, she can still spend time with him," Sanyukta told him.

"Sanyukta, this change in her living style won't be easy for her. Think about her," Randhir explained.

"We're just assuming Randhir," Sanyukta said stubbornly. "Yes, Shraddha loves Parth, but she loves you too Randhir."

"She doesn't love me more than Parth Sanyukta. Face it - that's the truth, and you know it too," Randhir told her. "She would choose Parth over me any day."

"But Randhir," Sanyukta said, sounding frustrated now. "Shraddha's a small child, it won't be hard for her to accept you. Maybe in the beginning, she'll take time to adjust, but she'll come around."

"Okay fine, let Shraddha be for now. How about Parth?" Randhir asked. "Will you be able to live with the guilt of leading him on for so many years and telling him you'll marry him, giving him false hopes, only to leave him for me? Tell me Sanyukta. If you feel like you can live with it, then I'm ready to be with you."

Randhir watched as she looked down in guilt.

"Randhir, but I wouldn't be able to keep him happy after we get married," Sanyukta whispered. "Isn't it better to break it off?"

"Why won't you be able to keep him happy Sanyukta? He'll be happy just being with you," Randhir told her. "He's not the kind of person who'll expect much."

"After... after we get married I'll have to... I'll have to... sleep with him," Sanyukta told him, slightly cringing at the thought.

"He won't even expect that from you Sanyukta," Randhir said, feeling slightly upset. "But... yes, you will have to. And what's the big deal? Just do it."

She looked up at him in shock.

"It's that easy for you to say Randhir? You're easily telling me to go and sleep with another man?" she asked him.

"Not another man Sanyukta. If anyone is the other man here, it's me."

He took a deep breath before he continued.

"I'm telling you to sleep with your husband after you're married to him," he pointed out, feeling his heart drop at the thought. "There's a difference."

"Okay fine, let's say I will sleep with him," Sanyukta whispered, looking upset. "But... I won't be able to tie my emotions to him. How do I forget that I love you Randhir? Isn't me marrying Parth a recipe for doom... not just for me or you, but for him too?"

"It comes down to the guilt factor Sanyukta," Randhir told her seriously. "If you can be with me without feeling guilty about leaving Parth, then I'll happily marry you. But if you are going to hate yourself for it, then I don't think it's a good idea."

"But Randhir, I just don't want to leave you," she whispered. "I don't care about anything else."

"Sanyukta, if you and I get married, we'll be happy... we will. Maybe for the first few days, you'll be happy to just be with me, but then as time passes, we will be so routine that you'll start to remember how you left Parth, and you won't forgive yourself Sanyukta. I know you, that's why I'm telling you this... I'm doing this for you," he told her.

She shakily pressed her hands on his chest, letting them form imprints on his shirt as she leaned closer to him.

Randhir knew that she was going to kiss him, and he wanted to kiss her too... but before that, he had to make sure that she would be okay with all of this. Holding her face, he stopped it from moving forward.

"We'll think about the future later... but for now, just let me follow my heart, and you follow yours Randhir," she replied, looking into his eyes.

Then without a word, he straightened his back, slipped his hands under her knees and picked her up gently before placing her on top of his lap. She turned around to face him and pressed her body against his as close as possible, before closing her eyes.

His hands automatically went to her knees and slid under her dress as her hands cupped his face and she brought her lips closer to his, his eyes snapping shut in the process.
