Salaam Namaste fellow DSK-ians!šŸ¤—

Okay! So if you guys don't know it already, I'm in charge of doing all the random topics. You know why right? Cause I'm the most random person you'll ever know!šŸ˜†

Anyways, let's talk about being Indian (or Pakistani, or West indian etc. No offence meant!).

If you, like me, don't live in your cultural area, how is it like living there?

Do you prefer living where you're from or like it the way it is?

Is there somewhere else you would like to be?

Is there other people of the same culture there?

And for people already living where they're from, is there some one else you would rather be?

Is there ever a moment you feel like you on't belong?

Happy Discussing!😃

PS: Just wanted to say I'm going to summer camp next week for two weeks! I'm gonna miss you guys! I have been really inactive for the past while and I'm gonna be tottally inactive in the next 2 weeks! I just want to say how damn proud I am of the forum and how active you guys have been! You all are so great!šŸ‘

It's different, but I like it. You learn different cultures and accept some of those qualities, but I think that you don't know your own culture so well then..

Do you prefer living where you're from or like it the way it is?
Well. I'm not sure. I like it here, but I miss my family from back home too..

Is there somewhere else you would like to be?
Somewhere peaceful.

Is there other people of the same culture there?
No, not a lot.

Is there ever a moment you feel like you on't belong?
Yes, the different things we do. It's hard for other people to understand sometimes and you feel out of place.

It's not too too bad. I mean, you do sort of miss the language and culture, but that's why we have India-Forums, right?

Do you prefer living where you're from or like it the way it is?
Where I'm from there are just too many family problems and too much going on, plus, now this is home.

Is there somewhere else you would like to be?
Nope, I'm happy here.

Is there other people of the same culture there?
Yeah, lots. I mean Toronto is the most culturally diverse city yaar.

And for people already living where they're from, is there some one else you would rather be?
Not at all!

Is there ever a moment you feel like you on't belong?
Nope. People are nice here and very welcoming. I never feel out of place here.

If you, like me, don't live in your cultural area, how is it like living there?
--- well i live in toronto and the area i live in is full of people from india, pakistan, bangladesh, (so it has the "back home" feelšŸ˜†) and tons of other countries (so it has the "culturally diverse" feel toošŸ˜†) so its great ........😊

Do you prefer living where you're from or like it the way it is?
--- well i've actually never been to india (that's where my family is from) so i can't say for sure ............ but i love living where i do😳

Is there somewhere else you would like to be?
--- not right now but maybe when i retire i'd want to live in some villa in italyšŸ˜ (but i'm a long way from that - don't even have a job yetšŸ˜›šŸ˜†)

Is there other people of the same culture there?
--- where i live? - yes ......... in a villa in italy? - don't know ...... but it is possible😊

Is there ever a moment you feel like you on't belong?

--- no ..... that's the best part about toronto ...... i'm not going to say that we're multicultural since there are still a lot of divisions between the communitites ..... but despite that ....... i feel that i'm able to express my cultural identity without feeling like i don't belong😊

great discussion ...... and you know it isn't that random ..... especially if you're a bride living away from your family ......... i mean technically even this discussion could relate to dsk ....... well the general idea of living away from "home" could anywaysšŸ˜†
