Meena,

Very true. Who could stand watching this character indefinitely? Maybe Ekta and her creatives but believe me not the masses - at least this member of the masses.

I understand that RK is a fantastic actor, it's the reason I was addicted to KS, but there is only so much eccentricity any audience can stand. Take for instance AD. RR is a fantastic actor, but his eccentric character of AD with his weird hand motions and his use of all the A words in the dictionary wants the majority of the audience to give him a tight slap back to Timbuktu.

Every article about JRT stresses that he is an eccentric, cat loving, green wearing character that has never graced Indian television. I'm sorry if I offend anyone - but really is there anything unique in any of these serials. The creative pool is so limited - that there are now genetic mutations occurring from inbreeding. Wasn't there a mysterious cat stroking man walking down some stairs in Betiyaan a few weeks ago??

When the production house has to constantly remind the 'masses' that the character is someone unique, never seen before, be prepared for a let down because I can't see them being able to maintain the hype. Look at the dismal Durga track in KS. The hype was completely over the top and the reality of the Revenge track was pathetic.

In American tv there are a few sayings when an actor or a production house has taken a wrong turn:

'He/She jumped the shark" referring to the show Happy Days when in an episode Fonzie the cool character water ski-ed over a shark. It signalled the end of the serial.

"He pulled a David Caruso." Caruso in 1993-1994 after getting much praise for his portrayal of a policeman on NYPD Blues decided to leave to pursue other roles and fell into anonymity because his fan base didn't follow him. He only regained his popularity in 2002 when as the character of Horatio Caine in CSI:Miami.

Good luck to RK, Ekta and Balaji. JW was the character that intrigued and captivated the masses to bring so many accolades national and international to KS and its actors. It's a shame to see KS now being kicked to the wayside.

What Ekta doesn't understand is that the majority of JW fans - love that character - his staid, resolute, khadoos, powerful, passionate self. He is someone that we can fantasize about because RK has infused life into him (yes) but also because at some level there could be a real JW. (Sorry difficult to explain this). But ladies who would fantasize about JRT. I realize that the character could change but beard, green clothes and cat stroking - doesn't add up to anything I could or would fantasize over 😆.

Anyway sorry for my rant - my addiction to KS is almost over - but I love this forum. Good luck to RK - hopefully he has gotten his fill of adulation from the masses as JW because I'm not sure if he will receive as much as JR Thakral.

If I understand the articles, JR Thakral is going to be slowely established and will not hog all the screen time. He is supposed to be integral to the other characters and bring change. I do not think Ekta will overdose the screen with his character, I think or rather hope his character will be evenly spaced out. Kyunki is a long running serial, its not easy to just push away other characters who are loved by audience. She says that she wants to change the format of the show, I know that Thakral in a saas-bahu serial may not seem like a good idea, but if he's handled well by the creatives, the character may survive. By handling well, I mean, not hogging the whole screen time, good dialogues and the dignity of the character kept intact unlike AD.

I can understand RK's need to experiment. I mean for 1.5 years he's playing the same character. He's a great actor, JW has been brought to life by him. But what happens when KS finishes? I guess he felt the need to prove himself in a role other than JW. In a way, to play a suave, sophisticated businessman and a madcap, eccentric character must be creatively fulfilling to him. I guess sometimes we have to put ourselves in the other person's shoes to understand their view point!
Of course, KS getting step-mother treatment must stop!!

As for the character JR Thakral, he's eccentric, different and green! 😆 I think people should give him time before passing judgement. Every character does not require to be fantasized by the women! 😆 Maybe in time we'll like Thakral cos he's different from the usual characters! As for AD, blame the creatives for making the character boring with the dialogues and hand gestures!! This character was also different but in a irritating sort of way. Lets see how Thakral turns out! If his dialogues are witty and charming, then it will be a plus! Well, RK did say that the length of Thakral's role will depend on the audience!
