"Mutual funds are the best bet to invest" - Karan Grover

Money. That's what drives everyone in the final analysis, whether in the glamour world of acting or the hard grind of scripting and producing. Cashin' In sits down with TV celebs to know well they handle their financial matters, and tracks their spending patterns.

You first saw him essaying Arjun in Star Plus' modern day Mahabharat, Saarthi. Now he's busy playing a jealous lover Raj in Meri Awaz Ko Mil Gayi Roshni on the same channel. Meet Karan Grover, the man behind these portrayals.

In a discussion over money matters, the actor gets into conversation with Kavita Dadhe.

The young and restless actor is of the opinion that it's vital to save money when one is young as it will aid for a life time. "Always have a systematic investment plan that will help you to save wisely and still have enough liquidity."

When it comes to the best bet of investment, Karan voices, "I usually invest in mutual funds as your money grows over a period of time. However if you want to play safe then a recurring account in your bank is the best policy, force your self to put in one thousand a month and by the end of the year you already have a lakh and a half to your credit with compounded interest. This kind of investment is the best as it is never heavy on your pocket and you don't even realise how these droplets of cash end up being good investment." Quite a calculated thought!

Getting into the details of bank economies, he continues, "I do not believe in having a separate account for your savings, you don't use money from that bank account but you cut cheques from the same, so it ends up being used. Its best to have a long term investment as well, say you take an LIC policy or the new ones that are in the market; its best in terms that they give you the interest that you can use plus the money collectively over the years is going to be beneficial in your old age."

And a financially sound man like him can't ignore property investments in this conversation. "Another option that is always a good investment is property, but you need to have that kind of money for it. To begin with you can take a loan and then rent out the apartment. Always remember an EMI towards this asset is always an investment; it no dead well that you are putting your money in. However property rates in Mumbai are so bloated that at times it completely out of budget to even think about buying a place on outright."

However there's a light at the end of the tunnel for Karan who foresees a drop in the property prices soon, as the balloon will burst in no time! So if you plan to invest in such holdings hold on to your money for time being'
