who is john galt.
oh wasn't that the first line of atlas shrugged. thrilling book back then.
howard roark... you know on crooner we'd keep talking about him and asr. i don't remember too much of fountainhead... but that was one fabulous man. the idea of genius and a strong character with extreme inner courage... exciting.
sometimes barun paints asr with just a look or turn of head... says so much. in thing inside asr which no one but only his actor could portray... how brilliantly barun did that.
shot of him in that jeep... how unstoppable he felt and looked. this is a very thin, not too tall, not terribly well traveled or wealthy young man... he looked like a prince, mythical almost... he looked like a man on a terrain unknown out to discover a new world, he could have been any "hero" type character who would conquer no matter what... and he looked just totally sexy. how was this even done.
Indi di you won't believe what just happened.. I wrote this post and came here to reply to yours and got a message on my phone from my own ASR. "Who is John Galt in theater now".. completely out of context, out of blue his msg arrives just when we are talking of this here.. am a little overwhelmed with telepathy I tell you..
I love both Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. Ayn Rand, the author, lived and breathed her characters. Set up schools to spread her theory of objectivism. She knows every single detail of what goes on in their heads, how they would handle a certain thing, who would they love, how would they love, how would they live.
And then comes a TV character, disowned almost by his maker, abandoned to strive for himself by his creators.. and still I end up comparing him to not only these heroes but so many more. ASR didn't conquer the world, he even stopped going to office, or wearing his suits, but Indi di you are right .. there was something about him that tugs at your heart and refuses to let go.
The conception of ASR deserves accolades.. what barun adds to ASR with each minute detail can't even be comprehended.. lanky.. the word keeps coming to me as I see him in that dirty vest, black trouser(not even a jeans to make it looked rugged), formal shoes fashion disaster combo..and I can't take my eyes off him... Those eyes, facial muscles, arms, stature, dialogue delivery.. everything just stays with you..
And barun portrays ASR in so many different moods..the intial days.. as the smile enters.. as he starts to play.. the heartache.. through all of it ASR shines through.. time and again I think story wise he is not doing anything great.. no takeovers.. a little play with lady love.. taking care of his family.. not even fighting an arch enemy worth fighting.. still you can't help get excited and know the man is destined for great things, just like you say above.. all thanks to that loads of extra that Barun brings with him.. and credit to the dialogue writers too.. he always got to say things that ASR would say..
