'I could have been crushed!'

Aparna Tilak recounts her horrific experience when a wall fell down in front of her

HARSHADA REGE

The recent rains sent everyone in a tizzy. While many preferred to stay indoors, some TV actors had no option, but to head for the sets to shoot. And actress Aparna Tilak was one of them. The actress had to head to Powai from her residence in Dadar to shoot for Left Right Left on SAB TV. "It was a rainy day and I had asked the production people to let me know in advance if there was going to be any change, but they confirmed that we were going as per the schedule. When my car approached the gate of the studio, I could see stones falling down from a distance. But at a turning, I lost sight of the wall. I stopped the car as I couldn't locate the CD I wanted to play. As we reached the gate of the studio, the wall next to it, which was about twostorey tall collapsed in front of my eyes!" she says.
Aparna believes she has had a lucky escape. "Had I not stopped at that particular turning I could've been crushed under the wall! I lost my nerve as I realised what could've happened. I refused to get down the car, but the production people were really nice to me. They kept telling me that everything was okay now," she says.
Aparna says that clearing the debris was a tough job too. "The unit members held the people from BMC to clear the debris as the cars belonging to the cast and crew were inside the studio," she says. Aparna says that thankfully the rest of the day went by peacefully.
On a positive note, she is happy that hubby Amod, who's a badminton player and neurosurgeon has been awarded Rastriya Gaurav Purskar. "Though sports like badminton are not encouraged much, such awards are great morale boosters," she says.
