Govinda dismisses the rumours about his unprofessional ways as nothing but the work of a mischief-monger.

ALLEGATION NO. 1

You were on the verge of being replaced by Jackie Shroff in Jagga Jasoos because producer-director Anurag Basu was exasperated by your tardiness.

Rubbish! I was always on time, even when I was unwell. I even took an IV drip to the sets.

Why does my reputation precede me? I am not living in the '90s. I'm putting my best foot forward, trying to be ethical and professional. Yet somebody out there is trying to sabotage my career.

All this has opened my eyes to the fact that in this industry you have neither friends nor foes. Sab time time ki baat hai. It is sad but true. In fact, when these rumours started floating, I called up Anurag to check what's going on. I was really upset with reports in the media that I was playing Ranbir Kapoor's father. Let me clarify this once and for all: I am NOT playing Ranbir's father.

ALLEGATION NO. 2

You opted out of Vikas Bahl's Shaandaar, produced by Karan Johar because you didn't want to play Alia Bhatt's dad.

I hadn't signed that film. Yes, there were reports that I was going to play Alia's father, lekin woh bhi galat tha. Clearly, some mischief-monger was at work. I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same person who spread the news that I was playing Ranbir's dad in Jagga Jasoos.

I don't mind playing even a grandfather provided the role is good. Work satisfaction is important to me.

Vikas was keen that I do the film but I didn't get the script till 20 days before the shoot. Aise kaise kaam hoga?

ALLEGATION NO.3

You were not sensitive to the feelings of Karan Johar, Vikas Bahl, Salman Khan and Mahesh Manjrekar.

Why would their feelings be hurt? I'm not a yesteryear star living in a make-believe world. It doesn't make a difference to anybody if I accept or quit a film.

ALLEGATION NO.4

You've taken a big gample to produce a film, Abhinay Chakra.

Yes, I have put my hardearned money into this film. But so what? If I hadn't made the film, I would have lost the opportunity to revive the Govinda brand. And I wanted to do that without making it look like I'm trying too hard. The film, which also stars Makrand Deshpande, Harish, Ashutosh Rana, and Murli Sharma, has me playing a cop. Director Deepankar Senapati has done a wonderful job.

ALLEGATION NO. 5

David Dhawan and you, once the Midas jodi at the box-office, are no longer on speaking terms.

Right. In fact, David and I haven't spoken in the last five years. But I really don't wish to elaborate on this.

ALLEGATION NO. 6

David's son Varun is being seen as the next Govinda.

I am happy for him. Ditto for Ranveer Singh and Kapil Sharma who also have a flair for comedy. But can you show me one newcomer, who you can assert, will go on to do 165 films like Govinda?

Umm.. 95% of those films were pure crap. 😕

And then

I was really upset with reports in the media that I was playing Ranbir Kapoor's father.

Stepdad dad hi hote hai, Chi Chi Uncle. You are not playing a dad that won't make you as young as Puja Bose or whatever the name of that chick you are doing.

He sounds bitter here. I wonder why?
I was his huge fan. Wish he gets one more time to shine. But a role that suits his age

Nail clipper - you are posting too many messages on "doing" today.
Gossip thread would have helped.
Oh well.

On topic - That is the culture of BW though, mutual back scratching in the times of need.
