and yes... I forgot that I mixed up Bhatia's and Dipali's surname.. thats just my carelessness.. sorry guys to confuse u.. Dipali wont come in the story now..😛

Part 17

RK was now in the office. All the while during his drive he had been lost in the complications that his life made him face. Everything seemed to entangle. Why he was the one tested so much? God is said to be benevolent and even-handed for all. Then why some people are given all the happiness in their lives while some are not even allowed a mere peace of mind. And there are some like him who hate their very own existence. Wasn't his repulsion with himself enough before, that now he has been held responsible for hardships of Madhu's family too. He remembered Padmini and tear fell through his eye again.

He was still lost in thoughts as he passed by Madhu's desk. She was sitting there working. She saw him and sighed expecting him to come and bother her now. But to her surprise RK didn't even look at her today. He was too lost to look anywhere.

"Looks like my boss is late today.." she intervened trying to start a conversation to judge what state of mind he was in.

RK looked at her for a second and shook his head with a slight smile. Madhu suddenly felt something terribly wrong with him. This smile wasn't naughty, wasn't evil, wasn't even delight. It didn't even reach his eyes and He wasn't the one to just let go her comment.

"What happened? Won't you bother me today?" She asked trying to sound delighted though she wasn't feeling that at all.

RK turned to her and smiled. "You were a better actor Madhu.." he said.

Madhu looked at him and then frowned. "Fine! Tell me what happened?" She asked not trying to act anymore.

"And why are you so worried?" He asked back.

"Its my duty to know what bothers my enemy other than me.." she said as a matter of fact tone.

RK laughed lightly. "Okay.. so don't worry.. Its you only who is bothering me.." he said as he walked away. He didn't like staying there. He wanted to be alone.

RK entered his cabin but soon after Madhu entered behind him.

"Why are you not retorting to my comments?" She asked restlessly.

RK turned to face her. "I just don't feel like.. Already I have bothered you enough.." he said.

"Why?? That's what I am asking.. what happened suddenly..? Till yesterday you were ready to knock horns with me.. And now.." she said anxiously.

RK smiled a bit but then his gaze locked on her. He walked towards her. Madhu felt frozen as if his intense gaze had hypnotized her. Just the way it did the first day when she came to his cabin. He looked at her so passionately. He came closer to her but she couldn't move away. Finally he was face to face with her and he kissed her cheek lightly. Madhu looked at him as if in a trance.

"You are very pure Madhu.. Never change.. For anything.." he said still close to her face. Madhu looked at him shocked. She looked at him closely as her eyes wandered over his face, his eyes, his nose, his lips, his chest. She was still scanning him closely as she felt the urge to throw herself on his chest and cry her heart out and she might have even done that but RK stepped backward. She jerked when he stepped back. She wavered her gaze for a few seconds not knowing where to look anymore and then walked out of the room.

RK looked at her retrieving figure. He closed his eyes as a single lone tear fell. He had realized that if he stayed anymore closer, Madhu might loose herself and come closer to him. And he didn't want her to do anything that she might regret later. He knew that she loved him inwardly. But now he didn't want her to realize that, lest she would feel guilty to fall in love with her father's murderer.

In the afternoon Mr. Kapoor had called RK to his cabin. He went in to greet him.

"Mr. Kundra.. I see that you have given a leave application for tomorrow..?" He asked with a frown.

"Yes.. its an emergency.." RK said nodding.

"But you know that we are to receive Mr. Bhatia tomorrow.. And you being the project manager.. Don't you realize how crucial your presence is?" He asked him.

RK chuckled inwardly. Kapoor didn't know how crucial his absence is tomorrow. If Bhatia sees him at the wrong time he can very well escape his clutches which he couldn't afford. "I understand. But I suppose the contract is to be signed the next day. And I would be here without fail that day.." he assured him.

"Yes but your absence might hamper our impression.." he said worriedly.

RK almost snorted inwardly. What does he have to do of impression on a dying man.? "If it wasn't something urgent I wouldn't have asked for a leave.." RK said acting helpless.

Mr. Kapoor sighed. "Fine.. But you have to be here day after tomorrow. And I am letting this because I know that you are a hard working employee.." he said.

"Thanks." RK said smiling and came out.

He came out of the cabin and didn't find Madhu there. He felt amused. He walked to her desk and knocked on it.

"I went to Kapoor's cabin.." he told her in an amused tone.

"I know.." she said uninterested.

"Wow..!! No spying anymore" he said.

"I don't need to run after you all day.. And already I am tired of it.." she said dramatically.

"Really Madhubala..?" He asked amused at her. "Anyways I have taken a leave tomorrow.." he told her.

"Why are you telling me?" Madhu asked confused.

"Because I promised you last time that I would tell you everything myself.." he said. "And besides that as I am already taking a leave.. How about going for a long drive?" He said flirtatiously.

"Hah!! Dream on Rishabh Kundra!" She refuted.

" Yeah.. Like on a romantic date... oops I mean for us it would be hate-mantic date.." he said jokingly.

"Haha! Very funny... I already regret those dates I had to go out with you... and here you ask for another." Madhu said dramatically.

"Yeah why not.. We can have boxing or wrestling if you wish.. Unleash the entire wrath you can!" RK said in a playful tone.

"Your sense of humor is going down the drains with each passing day.." Madhu looked at him making a seriously pitiful face.

RK laughed at her. Just then he noticed Dipali coming.

"Do you think she still likes me?" He asked to make her jealous.

"She is blind darling.. She can fall for anything called a male.." she said looking at Dipali with a disgusted face. RK chuckled seeing her reaction. Just then Dipali looked at them and Madhu faked a smile.

"Man! You are the actress..!" He exclaimed.

"Who can know that better than you.." Madhu said looking at him in a mocking expression.

RK's smile dropped while Madhu clearly enjoyed the look on his face.

"You really like hurting me like that right?" He asked seeing her smile.

" Yes much more than you think.." she said delightedly.

"I give you an offer. Marry me and you can hurt me all you can for the rest of your life.. Biwi.." RK said happily.

"Shut up Rishu... that's not even a joke... go away.." she said in an irritated and tired tone.

"Love you babe.." he said laughing at her reaction and he realized that unknowingly she called her Rishu.

"And I hate you.." she said making an angry face though she was biting her lip to stop herself from smiling.

RK gave her a flying kiss and went away.

The next day RK went to Sultan. He had his day off and he decided on finishing all that was needed to be done before ending it Bhatia.

He was about to barge through the door when he decided against it. He knocked at the door.

"Who's it?" Came Sultan's voice from inside.

"RK" he said.

The door opened in a flash. "What man? Are you okay?" He asked baffled.

"Why? What happened?" RK asked back.

" Why were you knocking.?." Sultan asked shocked.

"You are such a confused man.. When I come barging in you have issues and when I knocking then too you have issues. I wonder what Trishna finds in you that she is so head over heels for you.." he says making a pitiful face as he sits down.

"Very funny..." Sultan makes a face.

"Anyways.. Here are all the details regarding Kapoor industries. How they work.. With whom they work.. And everything that you can ask for.." he said handing him a oen drive.

"Wow... thanks man! I thought you would do it after you are done with Bhatia.."

"Na..You know RK doesn't keep any favors.. and moreover.. who knows I may survive tomorrow or not... Bhatia is not an easy fish.." RK said casually.

"Don't say that.. I won't let anything to happen to you." Sultan said confidently. He didn't like what RK said one bit.

"Ohh no!! No sultan.. I don't want to see any of your men there.. I don't want to loose him like last time.." RK said getting serious suddenly.

"Don't worry RK.. I realize what I had done then.. I wont let anything go wrong this time.. Only I would be there.." he said

"Sultan..." he tried to argue.

"Its no use RK.. I will be there and that's final.." he said authoritatively.

RK sighed. "Fine!"

"I will try and make Madhu stay at home that day. But she is a little stubborn so she might come.." RK said to him.

"yeah right.. Little stubborn.. Of course.." Sultan bit his lip to stop himself from laughing.

"Okay fine. I know that! So ultimately she might come there.. And if that happens I want you to protect her. She has to be your first priority if anything out of place happens."

"But I am going there for you.." Sultan argued back.

"And she is me!" He said in a definitive tone.

Sultan looked at him for a second and then took a deep breath. "Fine.. Madhu would be my priority.." he said.

"Thanks.." RK nodded at him smiling.
