The Moon
Aastha is the Moon and all that is associated with it. Moon influences mind and moods. It is associated with Dreams, Intuition and Emotions. It illuminates the path in the darkness with its Subtle Light. Its element is Water, as it influences the tides. It is white in color, which symbolizes Purity. It rules over the night, which indicates Mystery. Moon has cycles and hence is associated with the Feminine. It is a symbol of Renewal because it waxes and wanes continuously. Moon governs the Transition from dusk till next dawn. It Balances the day with its night.
In Kolhapur, Aastha gazes at the full moon and wishes for happiness. She enchanted Shlok with her purity and shined the light on Shlok's dark heart. Again in the Jungle honeymoon, wields her feminine strength and puts Shlok in his place. In Goa, she couldn't let go of her dreams and wished to be with Shlok for eternity. She faced all the challenges with immense courage and turned her dreams into reality.
Aastha's dreams and intuition had always played an important part in her life. She dreams of Shlok roughly pulling her to himself in the rain and telling her that he will erase her path that frequently crosses his path. She dreams of a caring Shlok, who brushes away all her worries and soothes her. She dreams of marrying him and having a happily ever after with him.
Water in the form of rain also played an important part in Aastha's life and even in her dreams. Rain washes away sorrows and refreshes the soul. It symbolizes renewal and fertility.
According to Hindu Mythology, Moon (male form) emerged from the the Milky Ocean along with Goddess Lakshmi, when the Gods and the Demons churned it using the great mountain, Mandara, which was supported by Lord Vishnu in the form of a giant turtle.
Goddess Lakshmi is sister of the Moon or the feminine form of the Moon in Hindu Mythology and Lord Vishnu is the Sun or Suryanarayana. She is the Goddess of beauty and bounty. She is also known for her fickle-mindedness.
Her animal vehicle is the White Owl, which happens to be a nocturnal animal. It can see in the dark well and is known for its wisdom. She is flanked by two white elephants, also called Airavata, which bring monsoons. So Goddess Lakshmi is associated with the night and also with the rains.
If the Sun rules the day, from dawn to dusk, the Moon rules the night, from dusk till the next dawn. They are polar opposites, but both night and day are interdependent. Without either of them, the cycle is incomplete. They balance each other. The Moon and the Sun; The Water and the Fire; The Yin and the Yang. Same goes for Aastha and Shlok. They are completely different from each other but balance each other perfectly.
