Abhi Pragya One Shot fiction: tete-a-tete
Rockstar Abhi had married demure, spectacled college lecturer Pragya out of revenge. He had believed that she trapped his best friend, Purab for money and took him away from his sister, Aaliyah, who was Purab's fiance. So, he had offered a richer himself as Pragya's groom so that she moves away from her friend. Pragya had married him but little did he know his assumptions were completely wrong and she had married him to please her ailing mother. Purab was never in love with Aaliyah but had not dared to admit that. It was Pragya's sister Bulbul whom Purab loved and Aaliyah had mistakenly assumed that it was Pragya. Abhi had intended to throw Pragya out of his life, exposing her greedy intentions once Purab married Aaliyah. Purab had indeed agreed to marry Aaliyah guilty of his indecision that caused to Abhi to trap Pragya in a marriage. Purab and Aaliyah were about to marry the next month.
Although Pragya was not Abhi's choice for a wife, she had happened to be his grandmother's only choice. She was not aware of his and Pragya's marital issues and he had maintained it that way for the time being. He had imagined once he exposes Pragya's real face, his grandma would throw her out of the house on her own.
For now, Abhi had to play a good husband in front of his grandma. Pragya always went along as a return for his grandma's trust in her and for him since he played the good son in law for her family.
This time Abhi's grandma had again asked him to take Pragya out for a dinner just like that. Abhi or Pragya could not come up with a reason to deny her request, so they had agreed. Abhi took Pragya to a posh Italian restaurant of his choice since the last time he had gone by her choice and they had left without food due to a creepy eve teaser in the restaurant passing comments on Pragya, enraging Abhi.
Abhi and Pragya were found themselves in a reclusive corner in the restaurant that would go largely unnoticed by anyone around.
Abhi: So Chashmish, happy?
Pragya: When did you start caring about my happiness?
Abhi: Again you started. See, I am very hungry. I am in no mood to fight.
Pragya: Sorry. Do you think I enjoy fighting with you?
Abhi: Then, why do you start every morning, evening, anytime of the day you are around me?
Pragya: Do I start? You are the one to always taunt me with something.
Abhi: How about this, at least for dinner tonight, we will not fight.
Pragya: Do you think we can even talk without fighting, like two normal human beings? Talk honestly?
Abhi: Honesty and you Chashmish? And I don't fight with anyone else, well except with my grandma.
Pragya: And for your information, I am soft spoken and polite with everyone on earth except for you.
Abhi: Oh I am so honored, your highness! Okay, let's not fight today and please try to be honest for a change!
Pragya: If only you can... okay I will be honest. By the way, I really don't know what to order. I never ate in such a restaurant. Please order something vegetarian for me.
Abhi: You never eat non-vegetarian food?
Pragya: Nope, never.
Abhi was so hungry that he skipped starters and ordered basil chicken ravioli for himself and pesto tomato-mozzarella spaghetti for Pragya, two of his favorite dishes from that restaurant.
When the dishes arrived, Abhi suddenly thought of torturing Pragya by making her eat chicken. Before the waitress announced the name of the dishes, he directed her to place the ravioli plate in front of Pragya.
Before she left, the waitress asked for Abhi's autograph. Abhi not just wrote his name on her palm but also kissed her hand and made her day. Pragya looked away while the waitress just fell short of dancing on the table.
Abhi: Bon appetit, Chashmish!
Pragya stuck her fork in a raviolo and was about to mouth it. Abhi held her hand and stopped her.
Abhi: Hold on. There is chicken in it. I don't want you to shout on me later on.
Pragya: What?
Abhi: Here is your veggie spaghetti.
Abhi exchanged their plates.
Before Pragya could be angry on him for planning to make her eat chicken, her anger was replaced with unexplainable gratitude towards him for stopping her from eating non vegetarian food. She just looked up at him with a small smile playing on her lips. He was always her torturer yet savior.
Abhi: I am not as bad as you think.
Pragya: I know. By the way, you treat your female fans really special.
Abhi: I like to please. I love my fans, especially girls.
Pragya: Some of them end up being your girlfriends?
Abhi: Oh come on, I don't sleep with my fans, well not all of them.
Pragya: So there are exceptions.
Abhi: Well anyone who approaches me always comes to me saying they worship me.
Pragya: And you get carried away.
Abhi: If they are pretty and hot, why not? *winks*
Pragya: Whoa! You are just shameless.
Abhi: Come on Chashmish. I have only had 4 relationships so far. And I am 32. That's actually bare minimum for a rockstar.
Pragya: Just 4?
Abhi: See, the first one was a college crush. I really thought we were gonna be forever. But I dropped out of college and she dropped out of my life. Second one was a Bollywood actress, don't ask me who! She is married now! Third was this crazy fan, actually the daughter of a business tycoon. And then Tannu..
Pragya: So, Tannu is the permanent one or?
Abhi: I had started to think so. But, may be not.
Pragya: What?!!!
Abhi: Because these days, I am falling out of whatever I had for her and I am into someone else.
Pragya: Another? Who is she?
Abhi: I am not gonna tell you that. You may just spoil it for me.
Pragya: We thought we were gonna be honest today.
Abhi: Yeah, but I can't tell you the identity of this girl. Respect that.
Pragya: Okay. Tell me if she is pretty? Is she a model?
Abhi: Well she is a model in her own league. I find her beautiful.
Pragya: Have you told Tannu about her?
Abhi: Not officially yet. But she probably has figured out since our relationship is on rocks these days.
Pragya: Good for you. Tannu is never a... Anyways... Tell me more about this new girl.
Abhi: She is different. Different from anyone I have ever met. But my story with her may never come true. It's so complicated.
Pragya: Why? What's wrong?
Abhi: Do you think it's okay to love Gabbar Singh?
Pragya: What are you talking about?
Abhi: Nothing. Why are you prodding my love life me so much? It's my turn to ask you questions.
Pragya: What do you want to know?
Abhi: Apart from trapping men for money, have you ever been in relationships?
Pragya: My love life isn't colorful as yours. I also don't believe in sleeping around before marriage.
Abhi: Oh come on! Marriages are overrated. And sex is essential. So you are a 30 year old virgin? No wonder you are so...
Pragya: Sooo... what?
Abhi: Hahaahahahah...Nothing. Anyways, you can trap men without even sleeping with them. I am impressed. Well, you have trapped me too.
Pragya: I have trapped you or you have trapped me?
Abhi: Yeah, I trapped you to save Purab from your trap. But you trapped me by taking my grandma on our side. Anyways, tell me more about your love life. You haven't dated anyone at all? You never found any man whom you could love beyond money?
Pragya: I mostly had failed marriages.
Abhi: What? You were married before too?
Pragya: No! They all failed during preparations.
Abhi: Who are those lucky men who didn't end up with you unlike me?
Pragya: Well, two guys. The first one I really didn't know the guy. It was an alliance. The second one was my best friend.
Abhi: Your best friend? Don't tell me it's that double battery friend of yours, what's his name, Suresh?
Pragya: How could you guess?
Abhi: He still has hots for you. The way he looks at you... How come he refused to marry you?
Pragya: He never had hots... Well, I thought he loved me. But before we got married, I figured out he loves someone else.
Abhi: Heartbreak? Poor Chashmish! Did you love him?
Pragya: I thought I did. Now I know I didn't.
Abhi: How did you figure that out?
Pragya: Because, after him, I have such strong feelings for someone else and I never had them for Suresh.
Abhi: And who is this new guy? And what are those feelings?
Pragya: I am not gonna tell you. You may spoil it for me.
Abhi: But you can tell me more without telling his name.
Pragya: I don't know what to say about him. He is a charmer. It's like I think of him and I can forget myself. I just feel this immense need for pray for his well being... Just want him to have all the happiness in this world.
Abhi: And a smile of that person makes you sing a song...You just want to be with that person and you hope time stops forever...
Pragya: Right! It's the most beautiful feeling. And you find it in a person you would never imagine to find it in.
Abhi: Even if you know that person may never be yours, you don't stop dreaming and hoping.
Pragya: Exactly. You still don't lose anything by loving that person. What if he won't be yours? You are his forever.
Abhi: That makes sense. See, this is why I am moving away from Tannu although I know this other girl should never be mine.
Pragya: You are in love, Abhishek.
Abhi: Aren't you as well?
Pragya: Oh, well...
Abhi: See, I never believed in love and all, but this one is dreamy even for me.
Pragya: And I had thought I had shut the doors for love after Suresh.
Abhi: Look Chashmish, after I get rid of you, just get together with this person and live happily okay? Stop trapping men for money and all.
Pragya: I will take your advice. But I told you na, this guy will never be mine.
Abhi: That girl will never be mine too. Anyways, why don't we raise a toast for that guy of yours and my girl?
Pragya: Oh sure.
Abhi: To the love of my life, and to the love of your life.. cheers!
Pragya: Cheers!
