What she could have achieved by taking him to court? She wasn't leading as miserable life as Chanda or any other women from basti. She had a family to support her, she had education, she had aim in life which she could look upto. Further her husband had got enough punishment as the family had abandoned him. She just chose not to further add to their pain by taking their son to court.
Their was no question of loosing self respect in that case. Had she decided to go to court just for the sake of revenge, there would have been no difference between her and Gauri.
It had nothing to do with family or no family, she just acted according to situation.

Hold on, so Anandi decides that her situation is good or bad and acts accordingly and then she also decides for other people??? Shouldn't Chanda be the judge of whether her own situation is satisfactory or not? In fact Chanda even told her she doesn't want to call the police and she was happy with her husband but Anandi forced her.

@bold. Contradictory!!!! 😆

Anandi's liberation from the shakles of traditions that bind peopdidn't happen overnight.
She didn't divorce him back then because
She realised that he would be put away for bigamy and his family be put through more pain than they already are in.
The society she is a part of did not approve of divorce
Divorce does not give her anything more than what she had or take away anything from her.Simply because her marital status ceased to matter to her
Even if she went after him for leaving her and marrying Gauri nothing would change things for her.
Her words to Shivani - with her actions three people would have been unhappy and now at least two out of three are happy. And at the time she considered the great Balak Var also a victim of child marriage.and supported his right to live his life with a girl of his choice.
She also didn't do it for the same reason she lied to the police who came over to her home when her child marriage happened - sheer fear for her loved ones.
Not because she hoped that they will get back together one day.
I believe that she should have filed for divorce way back when he brought home souten but that is my way of thinking she did what she thought was appropriate to her and her family.

This is quite the conundrum!!! 😕 When Jagya needs to be bashed, Anandi become victim no. 1. 😆
When Anandi's hypocritical actions are critiqued then Anandi has moved on. 😆

When it is said that Anandi has different set of rules for herself and her family as opposed to the likes of Chanda then it is disputed, YET it is then acknowledged as in @bold that she DOES INDEED mete out different actions for her own family as opposed to outsiders. 😆

THAT was the end of the Gauri track? Rubbish! Handled horribly. We never even got the loose ends tied up! What happened to the child?

The Gauri track shows the levels to which this serial has fallen - BV once used to be a cut above the saas bahu serials, a realistic portrayal of rural India - over the years it has deteriorated into this mess.

I stopped watching after Jagdish married Ganga - I tried to watch it again on hearing about Gauri's return and found the closure forced and one-sided. Jagdish was as much to blame as Gauri for their breakup, and what happened to the strong, independent Gauri that they had shown earlier? She was negative but interesting, a successful doctor with many shades of grey. She was selfish, possessive, ungrateful, insecure, jealous but she was a thorough professional and a strong person. How did she become this sad, weak woman who is pining for the man who humiliated her? Looks illogical. It would have been far more interesting to see Gauri as a top notch doctor, remarried and her path crossing with Jagdish.

The Ganga track started well and turned into a distasteful mess, with a sheltered homeless woman cunningly playing her cards to get herself attached to the haveli and its son. Jagdish's impulsive action of marrying Ganga was nothing less than what was expected from him, he has always been a self centred and selfish character, it was worse to see Ganga clinging on to the haveli and its members like a desperate leech, long after she was plainly told that she was an outsider given shelter and was no longer welcome there. This Ganga character did not have anything like self respect in the way she clung to the Singhs and to their son - not only when she could not afford self respect being a homeless fugitive but also after she had got a nursing degree, rather than find a job and become independent, all she wanted was to return to Jaitser even when she knew that she was no longer welcome there.

It is interesting to read how many people on the forum say Jagdish gets along with Ganga as she worships the ground he walks on- obviously, Ganga had set her sights on the haveli and clung to its heir so that she could ensure a comfortable life for herself and her kid, and also gratify her romantic infatuation even though Jagdish was engaged to someone else. Even though the Singhs considered her as nothing more except just another receipient of their charity, Ganga cared the least for Sumitra - the way she casually took over the haveli kitchen, mingled closely with Jagdish in spite of Sumitra's obvious disapproval and that wretched scene in which she casually sauntered into the haveli hospital with Jagdish, without a single glance at her hitherto benefactors. The way she kept her eyes averted showed clearly that she was aware of her misgivings and her eyes had this desperate, hungry look for a home and family - which she appropriated through her cake competition, furtive poems and Teej celebration with a man committed elsewhere.
Now that she has secured her place in the haveli by marrying Jagdish and giving birth to a heir, she looks placid and contented, but the way she got this place was downright cheap and distasteful.

It would be interesting to see Ganga get some comeuppance for her thankless behaviour with the Singhs - Gauri turning up with a child in tow and a legal loophole that gives her equal rights, and then some sort of closure in which Gauri goes away, after apologizing to the Singhs and gets remarried to someone else.
And as someone had written here, there could have been a get together of Jagdish and his wives & ex-fiancee for comic effect.

It needs a lot patience to deal with this kind of approach.

Forgiving is not about saying what the others have done is not wrong but making it clear to them that what they have done is not acceptibe and still not discriminate them and treat them badly.

She made sure that Saurabh was removed from Sanchi's life because what he is doing is unacceptable but tomorrow if Saurabh is in a situation where he is in need of help she will help him.

Coming to GAuri - she did not tell Gauri that what ever she had done to her she had no problem with it.For her Gauri realising that she had been nasty to her is enough she is not whitewashing her. At the same time if Gauri asks for help she will not refuse her or hold her past against her.

She has not given Jagya a clean chit as a husband but she did best to help him when he was trying to do the right.

Forgiving doesn't mean she will let DB get away with it and take some more nonsense but she will hit the root cause that is making DB behave that way and start working from there.

i am not comapring characters but the acts

Gauri - Jagya made her insecure with constant Anandi jap and refused to let go of Anandi but she would let Jagya get away with it and pounce on Anandi. - That is a wrong way to deal with people.

- She will not tell DB that she is okay with whatever she has done but she will just tell her that this is not the right way to deal with whatever problems she had with her.

That approach sadly is not correct in all cases. Some acts deserve only the strictest form of retribution and/or legal punishment, and you can't let them hang around freely in the name of trying to redeem them.
