India beat South Africa by six wickets

BELFAST, June 29: Sachin Tendulkar became the first man to score 15,000 One-Day International runs as India beat South Africa by six wickets in the second match of a three-game contest at Stormont on Friday to level the series at 1-1.

India, set 227 to win, finished on 227 for four after Tendulkar top-scored with 93.

However it was the second time in as many matches that Man of the Match Tendulkar, who made 99 in South Africa's series opening four-wicket win on Tuesday, had fallen in sight of a hundred.

His exit came amidst a collapse that saw India, cruising to victory while Sourav Ganguly (42) and Tendulkar shared an opening stand of 134, lose four wickets for eight runs in 28 balls.

It needed an unbroken stand of 85 between Yuvraj Singh (49 not out) and Dinesh Karthik, 32 not out, to see India home with five balls to spare.

Earlier, Morne van Wyk's career-best 82 was the top score in South Africa's 226 for six which also featured a run-a-ball 55 not out from Mark Boucher after the Proteas had been seven for two.

Part-time spinner Yuvraj took three for 36 after fine new-ball bowling from fellow left-armers Zaheer Khan and RP Singh.

The series concludes at Stormont on Sunday.
