It's like a person does the challenge and donate money and if u fail to do the challenge then u donate more money.Then u challenge more people to do the same thus creating a chain reaction in the process. Yes tht is the whole point..u accept the challenge and donate money...popular celebs doing it has made it viral and raised awareness in general public as well..and ya its true why thy doit wid ice water is bcs this guy ws describing how he lost him.mum to the disease and how horrific it is 2 feel numb wid no sensations in ur body while fighting the disease so whoever is doing it feels numb for a few seconds to go through the same pain..

In wikipedia found that the person who accepts the challenge within 24 hrs is suppose to make $10 contribution then challenge 3 more and one who fails to accept it is suppose to donate $100.
Maybe some people are seriously making some contributions to the charity but i have a feeling most people worldwide are just enjoying it as a challenge game and nothing more as its gone viral.

As per the reports The campaign has gotten a huge response this year compared to other years.They have collected a lot more funds than they managed to gather in the previous years.

I think this technique worked mainly because more people came to know about ALS through the challenge. Its a sad thing but people mainly don't pay attention to anything around them unless its something that interests them.Hence one has to come up with such things to garner attention and create curiosity amongst the masses. As it involved their favourite celebrities in some cases more people wanted to know what is it all about and actually bothered to pay attention and then more people decided to contribute.

One has to know about the problem before finding a solution and I think these videos and challenges managed to do that if not anything else.

Most of the people are doing it just for fun. But it's a good cause since so much money has been raised which wouldn't have been possible if not for this challenge.

I wasn't thinking that way before i was much curious abt the donations, but now i think, it was successful in making many people aware of this disease.

They definitely made a very good to strategy, but its still going in 2 directions. One is people are getting aware and also contributing. Another one is mostly teens and youngsters r just playing around without even knowing the cause behind it. Its already made it in my whereabouts too !

But yes i agree with you, leaving the contributions aside in such a short notice more people are getting aware of ALS including myself.

Does anybody know how people are suppose to contribute to this charity through the challenge? Coz i didn't receive any links for the donation just the invitation for the challenge.
