It is not ajeeb sa poshak...it is Yakshagana...a dance form that we are trying to keep alive in Karnataka.
It is sad that we know contemporary, ballroom, jazz but not our own...it is not your or anyone's mistake...we are too diverse a country...and the traditional dance forms are not publicized or much liked..#suchislife 😉😉 Some forms are slowly dying out...
Typically this dance form is done in coastal karnataka..there are 2 styles - Badagu (North) Thittu in North Kanara (Karwar/ Kundapur) and Thenku (South) Thittu in Mangalore/Kerala...
The costume that Ashish is wearing is from the North style...where there are more dance moves and rotating on knees...the south style has less dance moves but stiff round jumps (this part is interesting)...I hope they do a fusion..
His costume is of some other character not of Yama (which he mentioned)...but I am extremely extremely happy to see Ashish and Shampa be so gutsy to try out different dance forms and rasa every week and promote little known dance forms like thangta and yakshagana...
Go Ashish!! (Just hope he wins Jhalak )😃
thankyou so much for sharing the knowledge...👍🏼
i love all indian classical dance forms...this is one of the dance form which
today"s generation is not aware of...thanks to ashish & shampa that they r
trying to give glimpses of different dance forms...
as u say it is indeed sad that we know more about western dance form
than our own dance form...even though we r diverse atleast we have a
platform like movies & ofcourse JDJ where we getto know about them...
