But now suddenly and thankfully, we have a fully functional Shahenshah who is, at one go he is weeding out his entire inner circle. Remember his "Hum dekhna chaaahthe hain ki kaun kis had tak mukalfat karna chahtha hai" to his mother. At one go he can know who are on his side, who will support him in worst circumstances, who will dare defy him in crisis, who will harm his family, his empire, his people.
Jalal who has been endowed with a firm sense of Justice and principles and ambition to create a name for himself in the History of Hindustaan and inspired by his love to follow the path of humanism to achieve his dreams, has more enemies within that outside. While he can tackle the foes who charge at him from the front,(please have selective amnesia and forget/oversee the mirchi warđ) his backstabbers have always let him down. An able captain of a ship who can run his ship through great storms fails to save the ship when there is a leak from within. It is probably this hole that Jalal is trying to find and fill now. Unless he finds out the gaddar he, his family and his empire are always susceptible to danger. Afterall, the strength of a chain cannot exceed the strength of its weakest link. The weakest link HAS to be found.
In the process he IS hurting a lot who are his. His own mother, his wives, his unborn children. But well, to an Emperor none should matter before his praja and for their well being and prosperity, his own safety and the safety of his heirs is also important. For their welfare, anything and every heart ache is bearable. And that is also the price his near and dear ones and himself have to pay for all the respect, power and love they get from all because of this one man, whether it be the would-be-mother of his kids or his bachpan ki dost or his own mother.
Monday's episode showed what happens if this man is not the king anymore. Jalal is the thread that unites innumerable kingdoms. He is the symbol of and the reason of peace and prosperity in the country. If he were to step down or die, all the junior and sub-junior subedars will be ready to snatch the power for themselves. The religious unity that he has strived for and achieved to some extent will be gone completely. Praja will be subject to all the sufferings of an unstable government and constant wars between little kings. Jodha cries to Kanhaa that if Jalal marries Atifa and is king no more, Hindustaan ki shaanti bikhar jayegi. Such is the importance of his kingship and himself too.
This time like Dumbledore, he is playing his cards very close. Not even telling his closest circle what is in his mind. One may question, why? Why not illuminate them and ask them to play along?
No way. Firstly because a secret ceases to be one when made known to another. Secondly, reactions can never be the same.
For those of you who haven't read 'The adventures of the Dying Detective' in the Sherlock Holmes series, Holmes pretends to be dying in order to trap an enemy who sent him a box of poison that is lethal to touch. He pretends to have touched the poison and dying and pleads to his Dear Watson to bring that man who is the only one to have an antidote. When Dr.Watson offers to examine himself and treat him, Holmes goes to the extent of saying "If I am to have a doctor, let me have one in whom I have confidence. Watson, you are only a general practitioner with limited practice and medicore qualifications". This, to his most loyal and only friend. At the end, Holmes explains that the villain was a very very cunning man, and his entire plan rested on the desperation Watson showed in his convo with the villain. Had Watson known that Holmes was pretending, the earnestness and desperation would have been missing and the villain would have seen him through.
Thirdly as we saw today, he is worst to Jodha as he wants her to be TOTALLY out of the mess. He orders her not to attend his nikaah and stay in the hojra, so that even by chance she is not harmed. She is so precious to him.
Had Jalal made his inner circle a party to his plans, the sting would have been missing...MA or whoever else would have seen the plan through.
Why did Atifa have to wait for the wedding. Why not slash his throat anytime in the hunting trip or in their coochy-coo sessions? Perhaps the plan was more than just killing the king. It was to overake the empire too. The soldiers, support and everything had to be ready. This is why Jalal rushed through the wedding - in an attempt not to give them enough time for better preparations, but yet seem to be vulnerable enough to give them hope for attack. If executed well, if the logic and planning be convincingly shown in flashbacks, this could turn out to be one of the most memorable track so far. We would have our Ratanpur Qila Jalal back who would do anything only according to his plans and on his terms, yet with justice.
Just hoping that this Jalal has come to stay. Even if pretending, he was speaking the truth afterall. Ruqaiyya was more worried about the loss of her position and Jodha is always intent on opposing him and distrusting his decisions. The canons he got ready for the people was for the enemies perhaps. The biggest plus of this track is that, even if later he explains he was only pretending, the effect will surely be there in each one of them - what will happen if ever this one man changes from the good man that he is. Hopefully Jodha too will learn her lesson of what a gem her kanhaa has bestowed her with.
Finally, for those of us whose nazar tharas gaye the shaatir Shahenshah ko dekhne ke liye, it is celebration time. This time he has not only proved himself clever, but also strong, withstanding and sacrificing, someone who always does what is best for others, no matter what he suffers...and ofcourse thank you Adi and Khushi for your unwavering faith in Jalal and giving us hope too when things were gloomy. Lashy, Divi and I faltered like Jalal's own begums. Forgetting to believe the Great Emperor when circumstances were negative. Kya Karein yaar. Jaise ki unhone sab Atifa ko zyada tavajjuh diya, humne bhi CVs ki aimaktha ko zyaada tavajjuh diya.
May be he is not perfect, nor were his plans. He might have lost Jodha had she decided to suicide in hopelessness. But then no plan is foolproof. Also,he perhaps thought that she was made of sterner stuff. Nor did he anticipate the Khyber fiasco when he began his game with Atifa. But through this entire course, just imagine the heartache of this man, who has willingly put the most loved lot of his through this wringer, who makes himself fall in the eyes of all, for their own safety, who knows that he is facing great threat to his life, who knows that one slip, one wrong expression, his entire plan goes flop, yet who pulls it through with grit and determination, not allowing himself to stumble, and does his duty. This is possible only for our Shahenshah-e-Hind. WELCOME BACK SIR. (And sincerely hoping that you don't go about falling at everyone's feet after rounding your enemies, esp of your bhaagin begum who firmly believes that she has done NOTHING wrong and her Khaiber died to save you)
