The show that began with a dashing, rakish, proud yet just Shahenshah-e-Hind who could hook the most critical viewers with his total authority and easy charm. But then, things began to change and Jalal was reduced to a mere shadow of himself. All hopes were lost after the constant dumbing down of Jalal in the Tasneem, Ben, Mathura and mirchi war tracks, where Jalalluddin Mohammad Akbar was reduced to a spineless guy fit only to count his begum's hunars and apologise whether the fault was his or not.

But now suddenly and thankfully, we have a fully functional Shahenshah who is, at one go he is weeding out his entire inner circle. Remember his "Hum dekhna chaaahthe hain ki kaun kis had tak mukalfat karna chahtha hai" to his mother. At one go he can know who are on his side, who will support him in worst circumstances, who will dare defy him in crisis, who will harm his family, his empire, his people.

Jalal who has been endowed with a firm sense of Justice and principles and ambition to create a name for himself in the History of Hindustaan and inspired by his love to follow the path of humanism to achieve his dreams, has more enemies within that outside. While he can tackle the foes who charge at him from the front,(please have selective amnesia and forget/oversee the mirchi war😉) his backstabbers have always let him down. An able captain of a ship who can run his ship through great storms fails to save the ship when there is a leak from within. It is probably this hole that Jalal is trying to find and fill now. Unless he finds out the gaddar he, his family and his empire are always susceptible to danger. Afterall, the strength of a chain cannot exceed the strength of its weakest link. The weakest link HAS to be found.

In the process he IS hurting a lot who are his. His own mother, his wives, his unborn children. But well, to an Emperor none should matter before his praja and for their well being and prosperity, his own safety and the safety of his heirs is also important. For their welfare, anything and every heart ache is bearable. And that is also the price his near and dear ones and himself have to pay for all the respect, power and love they get from all because of this one man, whether it be the would-be-mother of his kids or his bachpan ki dost or his own mother.

Monday's episode showed what happens if this man is not the king anymore. Jalal is the thread that unites innumerable kingdoms. He is the symbol of and the reason of peace and prosperity in the country. If he were to step down or die, all the junior and sub-junior subedars will be ready to snatch the power for themselves. The religious unity that he has strived for and achieved to some extent will be gone completely. Praja will be subject to all the sufferings of an unstable government and constant wars between little kings. Jodha cries to Kanhaa that if Jalal marries Atifa and is king no more, Hindustaan ki shaanti bikhar jayegi. Such is the importance of his kingship and himself too.

This time like Dumbledore, he is playing his cards very close. Not even telling his closest circle what is in his mind. One may question, why? Why not illuminate them and ask them to play along?

No way. Firstly because a secret ceases to be one when made known to another. Secondly, reactions can never be the same.

For those of you who haven't read 'The adventures of the Dying Detective' in the Sherlock Holmes series, Holmes pretends to be dying in order to trap an enemy who sent him a box of poison that is lethal to touch. He pretends to have touched the poison and dying and pleads to his Dear Watson to bring that man who is the only one to have an antidote. When Dr.Watson offers to examine himself and treat him, Holmes goes to the extent of saying "If I am to have a doctor, let me have one in whom I have confidence. Watson, you are only a general practitioner with limited practice and medicore qualifications". This, to his most loyal and only friend. At the end, Holmes explains that the villain was a very very cunning man, and his entire plan rested on the desperation Watson showed in his convo with the villain. Had Watson known that Holmes was pretending, the earnestness and desperation would have been missing and the villain would have seen him through.

Thirdly as we saw today, he is worst to Jodha as he wants her to be TOTALLY out of the mess. He orders her not to attend his nikaah and stay in the hojra, so that even by chance she is not harmed. She is so precious to him.

Had Jalal made his inner circle a party to his plans, the sting would have been missing...MA or whoever else would have seen the plan through.

Why did Atifa have to wait for the wedding. Why not slash his throat anytime in the hunting trip or in their coochy-coo sessions? Perhaps the plan was more than just killing the king. It was to overake the empire too. The soldiers, support and everything had to be ready. This is why Jalal rushed through the wedding - in an attempt not to give them enough time for better preparations, but yet seem to be vulnerable enough to give them hope for attack. If executed well, if the logic and planning be convincingly shown in flashbacks, this could turn out to be one of the most memorable track so far. We would have our Ratanpur Qila Jalal back who would do anything only according to his plans and on his terms, yet with justice.

Just hoping that this Jalal has come to stay. Even if pretending, he was speaking the truth afterall. Ruqaiyya was more worried about the loss of her position and Jodha is always intent on opposing him and distrusting his decisions. The canons he got ready for the people was for the enemies perhaps. The biggest plus of this track is that, even if later he explains he was only pretending, the effect will surely be there in each one of them - what will happen if ever this one man changes from the good man that he is. Hopefully Jodha too will learn her lesson of what a gem her kanhaa has bestowed her with.

Finally, for those of us whose nazar tharas gaye the shaatir Shahenshah ko dekhne ke liye, it is celebration time. This time he has not only proved himself clever, but also strong, withstanding and sacrificing, someone who always does what is best for others, no matter what he suffers...and ofcourse thank you Adi and Khushi for your unwavering faith in Jalal and giving us hope too when things were gloomy. Lashy, Divi and I faltered like Jalal's own begums. Forgetting to believe the Great Emperor when circumstances were negative. Kya Karein yaar. Jaise ki unhone sab Atifa ko zyada tavajjuh diya, humne bhi CVs ki aimaktha ko zyaada tavajjuh diya.

May be he is not perfect, nor were his plans. He might have lost Jodha had she decided to suicide in hopelessness. But then no plan is foolproof. Also,he perhaps thought that she was made of sterner stuff. Nor did he anticipate the Khyber fiasco when he began his game with Atifa. But through this entire course, just imagine the heartache of this man, who has willingly put the most loved lot of his through this wringer, who makes himself fall in the eyes of all, for their own safety, who knows that he is facing great threat to his life, who knows that one slip, one wrong expression, his entire plan goes flop, yet who pulls it through with grit and determination, not allowing himself to stumble, and does his duty. This is possible only for our Shahenshah-e-Hind. WELCOME BACK SIR. (And sincerely hoping that you don't go about falling at everyone's feet after rounding your enemies, esp of your bhaagin begum who firmly believes that she has done NOTHING wrong and her Khaiber died to save you)

(All this is hoping there is some logical explanation offered by the CVs as to the couse of actions so far...)

Jokes apart ... lovely post ... it is a price you have to pay for the power, respect, and responsibility for the awaam indeed

Brilliant track, Sandhya...n an equally brilliant post!!!. 👏...this track really has had us on our toes...😃...Adi & me from the beginning, u guys later...😆

Looks like Maan Singh, Atgah, TM with TE in this for sure...
Adi thinks Tansenji also in it...
(MAAN Singh has most probably found CB when he must have being investigating the repairs of the jails...must have found the surangs too...MAAN Singh must have been sent by Jalal to check upon Jo in yesterday's epi)...to check how she is coping up with all the stress...

THIS ITSELF TELLS US WHY NEITHER JALAL NOR MAAN SINGH (nor anyone else with TE in his plan) COULD HAVE CONFIDED WITH JO ABOUT THIS PLAN (& hence save her from all her heartbreak during her delicate condition of pregnancy)...ITS HER DEFIANCE OF THE EMPEROR'S ORDERS ALL THE TIME, (under the pretext of self righteousness) THINKING SHE IS BETTER EQUIPPED THAN ANYONE ELSE TO SOLVE ALL PROBLEMS OF ALL MORTALS ...(I for one have always appreciated Jo's greatest virtue of having the purest heart...but am also the biggest critic of her self righteousness n egoistic stand in every situation)

Last week, the Khybu track was totally useless n an attack on your senses, IMHO.

Atifa track is awesome...but the sad part is, majority audience is so used to the feminist tracks & harem politics, that they are neither able to comprehend this track nor appreciate it...(not all are blessed with a bird's view vision 😉...where the highly critical macro picture appears crystal clear & does not permit you to even ponder over the micro aspects...)hence a dip in the TRPs 😆..n then we curse EK for useless tracks...😆...isliye toh she is forced to put in all this OTT drama of Jalal misbehaving so much with a pregnant Jo 😆...yeh sab spices are required to lure the audiences...only thing is, they could have made Jalal drop a few hints openly to the audience from the beginning...that might have resulted in better TRPs...

Jo once told Mainawati, "Rani toh Raja ke saath chalti hai na...."

I would like to make a slight correction, keeping the essence same...
"Rani ZYADATAR Raja ke saath chalti hai, kabhi kabhi Raja ko kuch der AAGE chalna padta hai Rani ko peeche chhod kar, Par Rani Raja ke aage toh DEFINITELY KABHI BHI NAHI CHAL SAKTI HAI"

I sincerely hope Jo learns this lesson after this track...

Welcome back, Shehenshah -e- hind. ...🤗🥳

(To be very honest, I had no faith in the cvs... & had some faith in Jalal...
But most of all, it was my FAITH IN RAJAT'S ACTING which held me on...it was awesome fun to analyse every single nuance of his acting after every episode since 31st July...⭐️👏

Every single expression of his, the way he uttered those double entendre. ...everything was a dead give away for me 👏.RT...you're too good man...too too good...⭐️

I would advise all to rewatch all episodes carefully starting from 31 July. ...)

Apology accepted, Sandhya...😆

Great post, really hope the Teda Emperor is back, his tedapan adds a lot of spice to the show. Today's episode is critical, the CV's have a great chance to resurrect Jalal by giving a plausible explanation.

And since Jalal's behavior was so outrageously eccentric, the emotional aspect of this will stay with the viewers and wipe out the image of the spineless Emperor. It is like a shock to the system.

By the way, the 'Dying Detective' is my 2nd favorite Holmes story of them all. Can you imagine Rajat enacting that role, I can?

Srry for such a late update Sands but sabse pehle one biggg huggg🤗

I am dbly happy becoz with the Return of TE we also have the return of Sands in full form

I have been missing your takes here Sands - abb gayab mat ho jaana 😉

Now for our TE - hayeee main sadke jawan 👏

Iski kya baat karen - hum toh bahut chote hain iske baare mei kuch bhi bolne ko - so I will let some others spk about him - Akbar - in their words -

According to Richard von Garbe in his book Akbar the Emperor of India -

Akbar was a rough, strong-nerved man, who was seldom angry but whose wrath when once aroused was fearful. Akbar showed himself to be ready to grant pardon to an almost incomprehensible extent. Again and again when an insubordinate viceroy in the provinces would surrender after an unsuccessful uprising Akbar would let him off without any penalty, thus giving him the opportunity of revolting again after a short time.

He quotes Noer - It was apparent often enough in the military expeditions that Akbar far surpassed his contemporaries in generalship. But it was not the love of war and conquest which drove him each time anew to battle; a sincere desire inspired by a mystical spirit impelled him to bring to an end the ceaseless strife between the small states of India by joining them to his realm, and thus to found a great united empire.

But the best info that has been given by S.M.Jaffer is this - This took place in January 1561 when Bairam Khan's dismissal cleared the way for the 'Petticoat Court Party, the most prominent Government' : member of which was Maham Ankah, lasting between 1560-64

By the year 1564, Akbar had fully established his authority; he had taken the reins of administration in his own hands, had overcome his rivals and had firmly seated himself on the throne of Delhi. He had shaken off the tutelage of Bairam Khan and the influence of the Court Party and had entered upon his personal government. As a man of strong imperial instinct, he aspired to become the sovereign-ruler of India. Before he entered upon a career of conquest, he was called upon to suppress a series of rebellions and revolts.

This is exactly what is being given to us as 'Natakiya Rupanter' by EK and her team - but atleast this has some historicity - what exactly happened we dont know - only the players long dead can tell us, but something did - and this is mentioned in Akbarnama in chapter 48 of the 2nd volume where Sharif's absconding is mentioned - Fazl says -

When God, the world-protector, wills to cleanse the site of the eternal dominion from the evil and black-hearted, and to deck it with the sincere and loyal, a state of things spontaneously arises which could not be produced by a thousand plannings. The hypocrites depart from the threshold of fortune by the efforts of their own feet, and fall into destruction.

What actually happened, neither AN nor A'in nor Tabakat says - also they all were written after 1570 - hence the part before must have been either told by some of the nobles or Akbar himself - but the fact that the details are not mentioned tells us about the character of this Great Emperor - who never highlighted his own acts - but the same AN and Tabakat do extoll the acts of bravery of Rani Durgavati - does that not tell us of this man's large-heartedness ????

Beautifully written. And even if he does apologize to his begums for the hurt he has caused, he will not fall in my eyes, only rise further for having been brave, unselfish, a true king and for being human enough to feel bad for (unintentionally) hurting the people he loves.
