Ishita/Divyanka's Kolaveri Di and Haryanavi

So there have been quite a few posts lately critiquing Divyanka's acting in these two scenes i.e. the Kolaveri Di and last night's Haryanavi scene. This is my first Divyanka show. In fact this is the first time I'm actually religiously following a KP show as well. And I was completely bowled by the acting prowess of these two. The chemistry these two share is the cherry on the top! Both of them have displayed their calibre multiple times and the best scenes for both have been when the two have shared the same frame. As it usually happens good actors always enhance each other and their performances stand out with one supporting the other and these two have done that for each other a number of times.

Thanks for this post! I'm kinda glad that more positive posts are coming up 😊 DT rocks!!! I can't imagine any other actress of current times who can portray such scenes with such ease!

Now coming back to this topic; Divyanka's or Ishita's Kolaveri Di was a delirium induced act...so perfecting it with the nuances of acting is actually not the call of the hour. She was in a semi-conscious state and had to do something comical that could be recorded and used by Raman. Personally I did not care for that scene much but could not find fault in Divyanka's performance per se. She had to deliver an OTT performance for Raman's benefit which she actually did.

Similarly in last night's scene, where I also think she need not have rushed in to save Sarika the way she did, her perfection of Haryanavi dialect was not the requirement. Her aim was to distract Suraj and co and get Sarika out of the room asap. She is not an actor or a mimic in the show, that all her avatars need to be perfect. If her dialect was forced and not in keeping with Haryanavi, it just makes it more natural. How many of us can mimic or adopt dialects at the eleventh hour and that too perfectly? The scene last night only highlighted Ishita's quick thinking and handling of stress. Where Romi was lost and debating what to do next, Ishita took matters into her hands and rushed in.

So for me Divyanka has delivered in both these situations as was required by the scene. If it looked OTT, then that was the way it was meant to come across.

I agree with u...she acted according to the situation she was in...thats called natural acting which we see in the show every time and even DT and KP's Naturalism in acting is also one of the reasons for which the show is unique...DT,KP and YHM Rocks...😊

I applaud her for taking up such challenges... She knows it that this could go completely wrong but she doesn't stop from trying it!
