What are Smita's Chances???

II3 definitely has been the best among the 3 seasons - barring a few, the selection (I mean Top 28) has been near perfect.

In terms of tonal quality, voice modulation, feel, and rendition Smita is clearly the best among girls. However, given that ultimately looks will matter to the median voter, what are her chances? How far can she go?

I would not entirely agree that looks is all that matters in the show! If that be the case, then Rahul Vaidya, Prajakta Shukre of II 1 or Amey Date of II 2 wont have been out in favour of those who eventually won the contest. At the end, it boils down to who woos the audience more.. either with singing or with any other attribute, be it looks, sympathy, etc.

Completely agree that the quality of talent which has gotten into the final 13 are undeniably the best so far in the show, in these years... barring an odd one here or there...

On Smita, more than physical beauty, she needs to connect with the audience, she needs to appeal to the audience. As a singer or a performer, unless you connect with your audience, your job is half done. Take a reclusive singer, who has a fantastic voice and control over the sur, taal etc. but who is shy of public, or who holds him/ herself aloof during the performances, or who is completely lost within him/ herself during the performance, such a singer may just find him/herself with a smaller audience, as opposed to a singer who is good but importantly, through his/ her singing, has the ability to reach across to the audience and involve the audience with the performance.

For all her kiddishness and for all the babyishness in her voice, Richa still touched a chord in many a heart during her audition performance and that was purely not because of her looks...

For Smita's own sake, I wish she would get more confident and reach out more to people than whats she is doing right now. Would definitely help her in the contest.

Well I don't feel that she's the best among the girls. Sometimes her sur goes flat (Its the time to disco, shisha ho ya dil ho), and sometimes it seems she is not getting the feel/mood of the song quite right. The tonal quality is definitely interesting, but her singing isn't that perfect. In terms of singing I would put Deepali and Puja above her, and in performance plus singing, Charu would be higher. I would rate the other three girls lower than her. So she should go upto the middle of the galas, but not further, IMO. 😊

it depeneds on how everybody and herself perform today...if she's gud she shud definitely stay...

She has a good voice, but I dont think she has very good control on her singing. Like if we see Baras Ja, its like she was stretching a few words vs just singing them crisply like Puja or Deepali. Both these gurls have phenomenal control on their singing. Puja thorougly thru me flat with her Sajna Aa Bhi Ja.. Each word was sooo clear and same with Deepali, even while singing a song like Nisha, each word was clear, not stretching and dragging.

All said and done, she is a good singer with tremendous voice range. i want to see her at her best in the galas.
