This post will likely have no takers but it was something I did feel like sharing.
If there is one thing that I have learned being on this forum is there are different values and way of evaluating things ... That is why the things that seem so obvious I was so surprised that folks felt vehemently opposed to it.
It is because each have a different way of evaluating things ... For some intentions matter more, some more the action; for some, they evaluate based on 16th century standards, others 21st century, for some , they feel more empathy for women then men and hence apply standards differently. That is why- no matter how well articulated argument we will not see eye-to-eye.
But, that does not make any one point of you view biased, more positive than the other, more equal than others, more better than others - because people define things in different ways.
For example, what does loving Akdha equally mean? During the Sujamal fiasco there were posts that were for just those who love Akdha equally. But, what does that mean?
- Does it mean you never criticize either?
- Does it mean when you praise one you have to praise the other and when you criticize one you have to criticize the other.
- Or does, it mean holding the same bar for each other? Criticizing what you don't like, praising what you do like? And each person has a bar of what they do like and don't like.
Where do the lines of criticism blur? We have no issues criticizing the CVs for not doing their jobs - they also have salaries, families, will likely get hurt reading our feedback- but we have issue criticizing actors and actresses?
Hence, no point of view is unbiased , equitable, perfect ... It is what resonates with you and your values. We can always disagree and this forum is made to discuss a serial and the people involved in it.
But, is it created to discuss among forum members who is better and superior, who is less biased vs. not, who is more positive vs. not? I never knew this forum was to discuss people in it ... I thought it was for the serial.
That is where I would say the lines between the reel and real are blurring.
In conclusion:
I feel all points of view should be allowed on this forum ... As long as it is within the guardrails of the forum, e.g., appropriate language, etc. You can say the argument is wrong, but you cannot really call the person making the argument is wrong. The way they evaluate things is different.
