you are right, that being uprooted from the only place you consider home is just too painful to even think about! At that time the world just watched as thousands if not millions died because some idiots decided that partition was a great idea!
Hope that one day people can look beyond religion, our blood is the same colour, the creator didnt make a difference...
In my mind the whole Indian Subcontinent is one nation because we have similar culture, and when invaders came here, they said bharat, they didnt say pakistan or bangladesh!

@bold: i think that was more a problem on the western border. i think bengal in that sense, esp east bengal has always been reasonably genger neutral. but yes, i agree that there is no real difference amongst the people. for thousands of years they were the same region and suddenly we become different nations. even if we accept the political reality of separation, we must atleast live as cordial relatives , not enemies.

I guess the people on the east are better in that sense;
exactly, totally agree with you, my cousins tell me about how they went to school with some pakistani kids and its like they are told to not like indians, or told that they are different, they are told that hindus and muslims cant live together, its just horrifyingly amazing how people can say that and get away with it!😡
